About Karen King
Originally from Short Hills, NJ. I grew up going to the Jersey Shore during the summers.I've always enjoyed the mountains and moved to Berkeley Springs in 2016. My degree is in Fine Art and I am very active in the vibrant art community here. My attention to detail and standard of excellence set Bear Garden Retreat apart from the rest. This is my business and I will always go the extra mile for my guests. I am here to assist you in making your stay enjoyable. Please ask about year round specials and in cabin services that are available. As an artist, the mountains have provided a great amount of creativity. Bear Garden features many of my own original artwork. Aesthetics are important to me and provide a relaxing environment. Cooking is one of my favorite things to do for my family and friends. I've stocked Bear Gardens kitchen with two full sets of China. Reed and Barton flatware. Plenty of Crystal glassware, pots, pans and utencils. Everything you need to set a beautiful table and cook a memorable meal.

Why Karen King chose Berkeley Springs
Our love of the mountains and hiking brought us to Berkeley Springs. Berkeley Springs is one of USA Todays Top 10 Best Southern Small Town 2015. It is a Art filled town with it's own unique character and energy. There are plenty of fun things to do in town. Berkeley Springs State Park offers a Spa and Roman bath area. Or you can just wade in any time of year for free. Bring your water bottles and fill up fresh Spring water! Stroll the downtown for antiques, art or dine at the many fine restaurants. Bear Garden Retreat is South on 522 near Cacapon State Park. We enjoy hiking, kayaking, swimming, fishing, golfing, horseback riding and shooting at the range. The scenic Overlook is not to be missed. Cacapon State Park offers many free family activities year round. Hancock MD is near by and there is access to the C&O and Northern and Western Rail Trail. Both are excellent to ride. One highlight is the Paw Paw tunnel. Bear Garden Retreat sits at an elevation of 800 feet above sea level. We are at the end of a quiet lane surrounded by oak forest. We have seasonal long range views. You can stroll up and down the lane without any traffic. Our neighbors are friendly and few. Bear Garden Retreat is a gift and we are happy to share it with others.
