About Lorena Maddox
My husband and I dedicate ourselves to raise our sons. We live in the city and bought this mountain cabin retreat for us and our boys to go to enjoy the outdoors and to have time away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Lorena Maddox purchased this Cabin in 2009
Why Lorena Maddox chose Ruidoso
We chose to buy this vacation home because we desired for our sons to learn about mountain - outdoor living, like horse back riding, fishing at the lakes, climbing pine trees, breathing clean air, looking at the night stars without polluted skies, and to enjoy the quietness of the mountain. We particularly chose this cabin because it is located at the top of a hill and provides a beautiful view of the forest and the Sierra Blanca Mountain. Also, it faces west, therefore, having remodeled and put all glass windows and doors on this west side, we enjoy the sun all day warming us as we cuddle on the living room couches to read a book or sit at the table playing board games.
What makes this Cabin unique
Our family loves this cabin because it is inviting, pretty, and peaceful. Our cabin is very family friendly.

This place was absolutely perfect, our kids had a blast!! We loved everything about it, location, scenery, hot tub was perfect! We had a lot of deer came up to the back patio. We will definitely be coming back again. The owners were also very helpful and got back to you with questions you had!
Thank you so much S! It was our pleasure to host you at our Ruidoso cabin. Please do come back and visit us.
Great place to stay
This place has a great view . Very peaceful and quiet .
Thank you! Come back and visit. We'd love to host you again.
Our next summer plans are in Maine; otherwise, we would have already rented this cabin again.
We were looking for a quiet place to stay in the Ruidoso mountains for two months away from the intense Texas summer heat. We found this cabin and were able to completely relax in quiet, cool mountain air comfort.
Coffee at dawn on the second-floor porch gazing out at the Sierra Blanca, watching the humming birds feed, watching for fox, deer, and occasional elk to walk by. Plenty of room inside to spread out for working puzzles, practicing a guitar, or reading a Kindle.
After the sun goes down and the air begins to have a nip, there is a hot tub on the first floor to smooth you out. Back up on the second-floor porch for some star gazing in the cool, crystal clear night before turning in.
The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen for cooking meals in, usually breakfast. It was beautifully decorated with Western art. The living room/den area had a comfortable leather sofa facing a large fireplace, large screen TV, cable and wifi. Three bedrooms and two full bathrooms provided comfort for the occasional visitors.
Our next summer plans have us going to Maine; otherwise, we would have already rented this cabin again.
Thank you! Thank you also for all the sweet details you left at the cabin like the bird feeder and the snacks. It was a delight to host you and we hope you come back again.
Good experience overall
Cabin is in a remote location with a great view. Not far from downtown which is great. Only negative is cabin needs some much needed routine maintenance. Other than that it was a good experience.
We strive to serve all the people we host with outmost care. As soon as you checked out we replaced the living room ceiling fan and repaired the bathroom towel holder. We feel that the cabin, our second home, reflects us the owners, therefore we take very good care in keeping the cabin in excellent shape. Thank you for staying at our cabin!
Very peaceful, relaxing area close to down town.
The cabin is very nice, clean and comfortable. Everything you need was available. We had no problems with anything inside the cabin. Everything worked just fine.
We didn't get to utilize the hot tube or the bbq pit. But sitting out on the deck after the sun goes down is so peace full and relaxing. Didn't want to leave. The owner was super and was available if needed. Lorena you have a beautiful cabin, Thanks for letting us Texans enjoy your cabin and a little peace of New Mexico. We will be calling you for next year. Thank You. Robert & Debra B.
Dear Robert and Debra,
You were a delight to host. You were so polite and appreciative of even the smallest details in the cabin. You are welcome to come back any time.
Amazing views, cozy, clean, great price.
Amazingly comfortable. Views in the morning and at night were amazing. You can sleep under the stars. We had a party of 6 and could have still had room for more. It was well kept with wonderful amenities. Lorena was super helpful and always got back to me right away. Will stay here again.
I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. Come back and visit us again soon!
Only a five minute drive away you will find many restaurants, horse back driving, shopping, the Rio Ruidoso River, and the Grindstone fishing lake.
