About Marcel Gajownik

Love the outdoors and living off the land in Ely is a future dream.

Marcel Gajownik purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Marcel Gajownik chose Ely

Would you believe me if I told you this property found us? A perfect compromise between me and hubby....upscale inside while remote outside.

What makes this cabin unique

Part of property is considered Federal Forest..a quiet place to wander or truly explore. Enjoy NW sunset views from main floor balcony or just sit on a boulder to watch the sun setting.

While we are paddlers more than boaters, both are allowed on White Iron Lake which connects with Farm Lake, South Farm Lake, and Garden Lake. An easy paddle to Kawishiwi River is the perfect destination with ability to canoe direct into the BWCA...a dream come true.

While only 7 miles into Ely, our cabin feels like a million miles from civilization.

Magical summer days and nights at gorgeous "mansion" lake cabin

  • 5 of 5

After over 20 years of Boundary Waters adventures, my sisters and I did not feel up to the rigors of portaging the wilderness trails this year. We opted for a VRBO rental "on the edge" of BWCAW. My sisters and I just enjoyed 3 magical days and nights at this gorgeous "mansion" 3-story cabin. It was open, inviting, clean, comfortable, with everything we could want. We canoed, kayaked, used float toys (all there, in good shape). Pier was great for fishing and lounging. Hammocks were relaxing to "just hang out". The space was peaceful and quiet, with great sunset views from the deck. Our time there was not long enough. We plan to return for a longer stay next summer. Thanks for good communicating and sharing your spacious lake home!

Great Northern Get-away for the whole family!

  • 5 of 5

Our whole family really enjoyed our time. The location on White Iron Lake was ideal for relaxing and fishing. It was also a quick trip to Ely. We stayed here with our 5 kids and had space for everyone. Beautiful setting!

Very comfortable home with many amenities in a very quiet location on beautiful chain of lakes.

  • 5 of 5

Our 2nd year staying for July 4th week. Property sets high overlooking the lake in a quiet bay -nearly no boat/jetski traffic. Deck off main floor provides great views and we spend much time there. Main level has wood burning stove for chilly mornings as well as big screen TV with many decent DVDs and books. Lower level has a ping pong table and walks out to grill, fire pit, hammocks & picnic table. While we brought our own kayaks, getting down to the lake and dock is a bit steep and rocky so may not work for everyone. 2 canoes and a basic kayak are available -- it's great fun to run the river rapids where they flow into the lake not far from cabin. Owners are excellent communicators and have set up this property well. Kitchen is well stocked, beds and bedding are great. The drive into Ely is quick and great hiking nearby - Bass Lake trail.

A wonderful week, as always!

  • 5 of 5

As usual we had a wonderful week in this beautiful home. Everything about this place is perfect. Even the huge wind and rain thunderstorm at the end of our stay was exciting and showed how much the owners care about the guests. Trees blew over and blocked the road out and we had the owners on the phone within minutes and the road opened within a few hours. What an exciting adventure. We'll be back! :)

Great Group Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Our group had an incredible stay at the cabin -

The house is beautiful and so is the property. We enjoyed cooking meals in the kitchen space and eating in the windowed dining room together. The whole space felt very communal, open, inviting, and warm. We made proper use of the outdoor fire ring, as well as the indoor wood stove. The property is private and we had frequent visits from wildlife. We appreciated the short drives to several really great trails. Staying here was the perfect and proper farewell to winter we all needed.

Beautiful winter retreat

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful ice fishing escape to the boundary waters. Did not fish much on White Iron lake, but very much enjoyed the cabin and our stay. Found lots of fish on nearby lakes, guided by Ely Fishing Guide Co. Had everything we needed, and got toasty warm quite quickly with the wood burner. Marcel is very quick to respond to any questions or concerns.
