Modern convenience on Federal Forest with panoramic views.
About Marcel Gajownik
Love the outdoors and living off the land in Ely is a future dream.
Marcel Gajownik purchased this Cabin in 2015
Why Marcel Gajownik chose Ely
Would you believe me if I told you this property found us? A perfect compromise between me and hubby....upscale inside while remote outside.
What makes this Cabin unique
Part of property is considered Federal Forest..a quiet place to wander or truly explore. Enjoy NW sunset views from main floor balcony or just sit on a boulder to watch the sun setting. While we are paddlers more than boaters, both are allowed on White Iron Lake which connects with Farm Lake, South Farm Lake, and Garden Lake. An easy paddle to Kawishiwi River is the perfect destination with ability to canoe direct into the BWCA...a dream come true. While only 7 miles into Ely, our cabin feels like a million miles from civilization.

Ely winter escape
Perfect base for exploring local bwca winter trails. Great layout and accommodates a group easily. Great kitchen and living areas. The house runs itself. Quiet, natural, great views.
Ice Fishing Trip
Great cabin and amenties
Cozy lakeview cabin
We visited family in Ely, MN for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Marcel checked in with us shortly after we arrived to make sure that everything was well. The cabin was everything that we needed for our a cozy winter weekend getaway. The wood burning stove kept the place warm and toasty. The kitchen was well supplied with pots and pans, dishes, etc. so that we could make a couple of meals in. And the short drive into town was reasonable to do a bit of shopping on Small Business Saturday. The drive was well plowed before we arrived, although we were happy to have AWD as it snowed while we were there and it would have been difficult to get to the road. Overall, we were very pleased and would consider staying again on return trip to Ely.
very good, could have been great
Overall experience was very good. Main master bedroom was worst I have slept in. Other minor short comings like like living DVD player skittish, bathroom bulb out, etc. checkout process seemed like a lot to do. No specified place to drop ashes and looked like we had to pack our already packed car with garbage from the check out description.
In the plus side, it was very well equipped and spacious. Clean and very nice setting. I would come again, especially if the above shortcomings were improved.
Hi. I'm sorry you feel this way. We were not told about DVD nor bulbs blown. Possibly the DVD beyond our control but have extra bulbs in laundry room.
No one has complained, ever, about main floor bedroom. Please contact me to discuss.
We never thought giving directions on where to dump wood stoves ashes...just outside and away from cabin. Please forgive our lack of directions.
Stripping beds, collecting used towels and taking trash are all normal duties for guests staying around BWCA.
Again, I'm sorry that the experience wasn't a more comfortable match for you or your family.
Fall visit to White Iron Lake
Spent the third week of September at White Iron Lake and this property. Had a wonderful time with gorgeous fall weather, literally watched the fall colors evolve every day. The property was very accommodating and certainly added to our great week up north. Highly recommended.
Located just 10 minutes from downtown Ely. Tucked away inside the Federal Forest on southern end of White Iron Lake. Cabin situated on 5 heavily wooded acres for exploring and solitude. Private view of White Iron with no signs of the "real world". 40 ft. dock to fish from or enjoy a sunset over the lake.
