This is a 2 level home with 2 full size bedrooms and full bath on the upper level. The master bedroom and bath are on the main level. There is another smaller bedroom on the main level. The 3/4 bath is on the main level and shares the space with the laundry facility. All bedrooms have queen size beds. We have a 105 gallon hot water heater so you shouldn't run out of hot water. Vacationing in groups is fun but yet people need to be able to spread out and have some personal space. The main floor is spacious allowing for plenty of room for all guests. On the main level, there is a game room with pool table that also has ping pong table top in case you want to change your game. There is an outdoor hot tub that comfortably seats 4 adults. Our guests enjoy relaxing in the hot tub or sitting on the deck watching the deer and turkeys stroll through the property. It is not unusual to see see deer with their young fawn from the end of June through the end of summer. The kitchen is typically a gathering place and you won't be disappointed in this one. There are 500 square feet and includes a 46 inch flat screen TV. It is fully stocked ready for you to prepare your favorite dishes. There are a total of 3 big screen TV's with dish satellite service throughout the home. There is Wi-fi access. You will enjoy a relaxing evening on the 32 foot covered cedar deck. This allows you to enjoy being outside rain or shine. There is a Jenn-Air gas grill and a table for outdoor dining. There is an outdoor dog kennel for your pet to relax while you are enjoying the Black Hills. There is an attached 2 car garage to protect your vehicle from the hail that is common in this area. There is very little traffic in this area since it is a dead end road. You will be able to go for a walk after a long day of driving. The property is 2 miles from access to the Mickelson trail. It is 4 miles to the entrance of Custer State Park. This property offers privacy and allows you to be close to all that Custer has to offer.

About Sarah Schryvers
The original home was built in 1987. We built an addition and renovated the entire home in 2011. I have a large family that enjoy coming to the Black Hills. We renovated to accommodate large groups of people. We enjoy 4 wheeling and often leave from our home to access the many trails in the Black Hills Forest Service. I also enjoy cycling and will use the Mickelson trail but will also take my road bike out from the bottom of our subdivision. Hiking is a family past time. There are many trails in Custer State Park and in the Black Hills National Forest. Harney Peak is a short drive and offers a moderately challenging hike with beautiful views at the top as your reward. We golf at Rocky Knolls 9 hole course in Custer. We also golf the Southern Hills Golf Course in Hot Springs, SD. It is a beautiful 18 hole course on nearly 6000 acres.
Sarah Schryvers purchased this House in 1997
Why Sarah Schryvers chose Custer
Proximity and Spaciousness! You will feel like you are miles away yet you are very close to all of the things you want to do. I have stayed in VRBO properties and have found many of them to be compact. This property is anything but compact.
What makes this House unique
The covered deck is definitely a plus. It is not unusual to have evening rain storms. You can even enjoy the rain without getting all wet, unless that is what you want to do.

The house was wonderful and fit our family perfectly. Felt like home!!
We stayed at this home for five nights. After full days of sightseeing, it felt like we were coming HOME at the end of the day. We were three generations, and everyone had a great time. My grandson especially liked the pool table and ping pong table, even challenging his sister to a match. At the beginning and end of each day, we spent time on the covered porch just listening to nature and relaxing. When we are in the area again, we will surely stay here!! The homeowners are great to work with and very accommodating to our needs.
Thank you for your very kind review. We want to make your vacation as unencumbered as possible. We would welcome you back!!
Location great, cleanliness lacking!
The location and functionality of the house was great. The cleanliness of the house left a little to be desired. The pillow cases were very stained and the pillows were flat and smelly. The towels were very damp when we got them out if the cupboard. The fridge was very filthy and the boxes we put in the fridge stuck to the shelving. The toilets looked like they had not been wiped down. If items are left behind in the fridge from previous renters I feel they need to be removed prior to next rental.
Great house for a family vacation.
Everything you need is there t the house. Great setting.
Huge kitchen. Lot of area for everyone to be. Great deck, great house and awesome location!
Thanks for the great review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay.
The house and scenery is beautiful !
We recently were here as a party of 7 adults for 9 nights. The house and the scenery was beautiful. It was everything we expected it to be. The kitchen/ dining area was very inviting for us to hang out in . We also enjoyed the porch, hot tub and pool table area as well. It was absolutely breath taking to see the sites in Custer, including Custer State Park, Spear Fish, Hill city, Dead wood, Lead, Hot spring, Sturgis and Sundance. Also Iron Mountain Road, Needles highway , Devils tower, Mt. Rushmore and Crazy horse to name a few. The house is conveniently located and was a great place to come back to and relax in the evenings. Lonnie and Sarah were accommodating to us!
Thank you for the kind review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. We have been very fortunate to have great guests that took excellent care of our home.
Perfect Balance of Nature and City
Our group, consisting of two families (four adults, four boys 6-14) from large cities, vacationed at this home for over a week. It was glorious. The layout of the home is fantastic. The kids can go to bed at night on either floor, and grown-ups can continue to chat, hot tub, porch-gather without bothering them. The remodeled kitchen is a dream to feed large groups. The house was well fitted out with linens, towels, and ample kitchen appliances and supplies. We were want for nothing and the local grocery Lynn's Dakotamart was well-stocked for a rural area.
There are A/C units in each bedroom, and large windows to let in breezes to the rest of the house. This came in handy as Mother Nature decided to bring us 100 degree days (though fabulous nights). We were absolutely miserable when out and about for the day, but NEVER at this house!
The location is VERY close to downtown Custer, so eating out or groceries are nearby. We especially liked Maria's and the doughnuts at the Baker's Bakery. The owners of the house were very helpful in finding eateries and activities that our families enjoyed. They were very clear with check-in and check-out procedures, and so responsive and friendly.
This rental is perfect if you want to explore the southern portion of the Black Hills, Custer State Park, etc. We did have to venture out on day trips of 30-45 minutes drive, but the house felt very centrally located. If you love watching the stars at night (and seeing the Milky Way with your bare eyes because there is no light pollution), storms roll in with amazing lightning, rainbows, wildlife (deer, turkeys, chipmunks, etc), this is the place for you.
The last thing that is worth mentioning is the water. This vacation home has the best tasting water I've ever had in my life. Bring your reusable thermos, save the environment on your day hikes, because this water is AMAZING.
