About this property

Southwest Harbor Cottage steps away the Ocean and Acadia National Park

A renovated 1880’s farmhouse in the Village of Manset, two blocks up form the shore. Stroll down to the shore and watch the activity along the working waterfront. Stop in at Peter Trouts restaurant for an afternoon cocktail or the dock for boat fresh lobster. Just down the road is the Seawall and the walking trails of Wonderland and Ship Harbor. It’s a short 20 min drive to Bar Harbor or take the free Island Explorer that stops at the Manset Town Dock. The town of Southwest Harbor is about a 3 minute drive, and has gift shops, restaurants, and a specialty food market.

The house is decorated to reflect its coastal Maine location. The first floor offers a modern kitchen with everything you need for your stay. A dining room off the kitchen has seating for six. The living room has flat screen television with chromecast to watch your Netflix or Hulu. The cottage is equipped with broadband WiFi. On the front of the house is the enclosed porch perfect for starting the day off with a cup of coffee. This floor also includes a full bathroom.

The second floor has three bedrooms. The Master has a king bed and attached bathroom with shower. The second bedroom has a queen bed, and third bedroom has two twin beds.

Off of the kitchen is the small back deck with a gas grill. The deck overlooks a nicely large landscaped yard, and a charming terraced patio above a patch of blueberry bushes. There is a fire pit for enjoying in the evening after your day of exploring this great island.

For those coming by boat there may be a mooring available in the harbor on request.

Private Quant home away from home
Great place to stay in southwest harbor. About 20 minutes from the busy town of Bar Harbor. Quiet neighborhood. Would recommend staying here and the host Ian was great with communications. Id only recommend more toilet paper (maybe 2 instead of 1) in the bathrooms.

Great place
This was a great place to stay. It's easy to get to and the location is awesome! The home was clean and the beds were comfy. There's a nice yard with a fire pit. The kitchen had all we needed for cooking dinners and prepping lunches for hikes. There is a small grocery store nearby(it closes early) and a few gas station/convenient stores close-by as well. I think our favorite thing was the public beach access we found about a mile down the seawall road. It's rocky, so bring some sneakers. But it's a wonderful spot to just sit and watch the sunrise in the morning, or just look at the mountains on the other side of the water. Very quiet and peaceful. We would not hesitate to book here again.

Few Days near Bar Harbor
Rented this property for 3 days for the second part of our trip in Maine. It was perfect for our family of four. Wanted the convenience of staying in a home with all the amenities a house has to offer. Downtown Bar Harbor is about 17 miles away. The property is located in Southwest Harbor. Even though we didn’t get time to explore the town of Southwest Harbor we always enjoy our time in Maine! Can’t wait to revisit Maine again!

Southwest Harbor / Acadia Vacation
Amazing location and very comfortable house. The only things that were odd were only full bath on 2nd floor (where all bedrooms located) is in master & very difficult to find the house from the street - it would be helpful to have a more clearly marked house number since privacy shrubs block the entire house

Why they chose this property

We purchased this house in 2001 and have been spending summers here ever since. We cannot imagine a better place to spend the summer. From hiking to boating Mount Desert Island is a place you will want to comeback to time and again. We hope you will enjoy the house and area as much as we have.
