About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, Beautiful yard, One block up from the shoreline

A renovated 1880’s farmhouse in the Village of Manset, two blocks up form the shore. Stroll down to the shore and watch the activity along the working waterfront. Stop in at the Dockside restaurant for an afternoon cocktail or the dock for boat fresh lobster. Just down the road is the Seawall and the walking trails of Wonderland and Ship Harbor. It’s a short 20 min drive to Bar Harbor or take the free Island Explorer that stops at the Manset Town Dock. The town of Southwest Harbor is about a 3 minute drive, and has gift shops, restaurants, and a specialty food market.

The house is decorated to reflect its coastal Maine location. The first floor offers a modern kitchen with everything you need for your stay. A dining room off the kitchen has seating for six. The living room has flat screen television with cable and chromecast to watch your Netflix or Hulu. The cottage is equipped with broadband WiFi. On the front of the house is the enclosed porch perfect for starting the day off with a cup of coffee. This floor also includes a full bathroom.

The second floor has three bedrooms. The Master has a king bed and attached bathroom with shower. The second bedroom has a queen bed, and third bedroom has two twin beds.

Off of the kitchen is the small back deck with a gas grill. The deck overlooks a nicely large landscaped yard, and a charming terraced patio above a patch of blueberry bushes. There is a fire pit for enjoying in the evening after your day of exploring this great island.

For those coming by boat there may be a mooring available in the harbor on request.

Why Sara Vosloo chose Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island

We purchased this house in 2001 and have been spending summers here ever since. We cannot imagine a better place to spend the summer. From hiking to boating Mount Desert Island is a place you will want to comeback to time and again. We hope you will enjoy the house and area as much as we have.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I loved our stay and would certainly book again. We enjoyed being on the quiet side of the island while having a simple 20-30 minute drive to the east side of the island. The house is very clean and well cared for. I love the trees that surround the house and make it feel secluded. The yard is a nice size and we loved the fire pit! The only thing I would recommend for improvement is to provide instructions on how to work the TV; we spent 30 minutes to an hour googling how to use it! Haha not a big deal at all as we watched less than 30 minutes of tv during our 4 day/3 night stay. Otherwise, the house is perfect and had everything we needed and expected. (Side note: If you’re traveling with more than 2 people, you may want to request extra pillows prior to your arrival. There were only 2 pillows in each bedroom for a total of 6 pillows. We use 5 pillows so we were glad nobody else was traveling with us!) I definitely recommend this place. Thank you, owners, for a comfortsble stay!

Away from the tourists.

  • 5 of 5

The location is perfect is you don't like to be in the center of all the tourist traps. SW Harbor has a number of 1st rate restaurants. Its a working harbor (as is Mansett), so that's pretty interesting.

The house itself is good. Very nice interior, and very clean. After long days at Acadia, we were able to relax in comfort and quiet. Good washer and dryer, which helps you keep the packing down.

You are about 20 minutes from the park and Bar Harbor. The cranberry ferry is a close walk and it's great. Would stay there again

Charm, charm, charm

Well furnished, extremely clean, and convenient location. Could not have asked for more. On a side note, great watercolors and photography throughout the house.

Great stay at a great place on the quiet side of Acadia National Forest

  • 5 of 5

This fully updated cottage had everything we needed for a great vacation of hiking and biking in Acadia National Forest. It was obvious that the owners put in top-notch appliances and modern bathrooms for the enjoyment of their quests. The WiFi was surprising fast and completely adequate for my electronic-reliant family. Note that there is no air conditioning or a dishwasher, but the neither was missed. Sara was always prompt in replying to our questions and my wife commented that the check-in information was the most complete she has ever seen. I would definitely recommend this place, especially if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor and do not mind driving the 20 minutes or so to get there.
