About Heith and Lacey

Heith and Lacey both grew up right next door in Wyoming and have been living in Custer for 2 years now. Lacey spent many summers in the Black Hills while growing up, so living here kind of feels like being home. Heith was new to the Black Hills but finds that it fits his lifestyle. He spends much of his free time hunting, when he isn't working on cars. They both enjoy getting out to hike, camp and fish within the beauty that the Black Hills have to offer.

Heith and Lacey purchased this cottage in 2015

Great stay!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed the little cottage. Great location and everything you need for a relaxing vacation. The two bedrooms were great for the three adults in our party and the kitchen and bath are very well equipped. We would definitely stay here again. Don't miss the Lynn Dakotamart grocery store. It is way better than the stores in Rapid City both for the product quality and price. You would not think to find a store like that in a small town like Custer.

Great location for Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, Needles Hwy, Crazy Horse & More!

  • 5 of 5

Not super fancy but clean and worked very well for our trip of 5. Walking distance to downtown Custer with plenty of shops, restaurants, grocery & liquor stores and much more. Also, very easy to book, communicate with owner & to access. Compared to the price and location of other options, this was very competitive and turned out to be perfect for us!

Cute cottage for our family

  • 5 of 5

Cute cottage perfect for my family of 4: parents, young teen, & tween. We were sightseeing most of our time so we only ate breakfast here (& slept), but it was so much better than being crammed into a hotel room. I loved the decor and we were close to the community but could see some Black Hills beauty in the windows and on the porch. I would stay here again!

Perfect location to explore the Black Hills!

  • 4 of 5

Great location

Communication with Lacey was easy.

House is extremely clean

Kitchen included some items that not all rentals provide (paper towels, soap, wash sponge, wash cloth, coffee filters, cork screw)

Nice towels and wash cloths in the bathroom

Samsung TV (great picture quality)- "basic channels"

Floor plan worked for its size, new carpet

Very bright inside- lots of windows. Good shades for bedroom morning light

Ceiling fan in the family room and extra fans in the closets ( box fan and stand fan)

How to make this a 5 star review

Kitchen accessories- add a hand towel or two. Made spegetti but nothing to strain it with. Add regular silverware knives (had to use a steak knife to spread cream cheese on my bagel)

Change kitchen chairs- preferably wood. Metal chairs were not very comfortable

Change couch. Not very comfortable after sitting a while without adding pillows to support your back.

Add another side table for the left side of the couch. We had to bring the nightstand from one of the bedrooms to use.

Offer a better selection of sleeping pillows- something that compacts a little bit more. I slept on a rolled up towel the first night until I found the smaller pillow in the second bedroom.

Overall we are very happy with our stay here- and would stay here again in a heart-beat. Great location and a great value

Owner's Response: We thank you for your feedback. There is a full set of silverware in the house, which I know you told me you found after you wrote this review. Also, we do supply the house with extra bedding and pillows - both medium and firm support to help with everyone's preference.
