About Charlotte Wenger

As Mennonites, we have lived all but two years of our married life, and raised our four children here on the farm. My father-in-law Noah Wenger purchased the farm for my husband and I before we were married. We have enjoyed the beautiful view and wonderful farm life with our children, and now our eighteen grandchildren who love to come and play on the farm. My daughters and daughter in law still love to come and walk the lovely, low-traffic roads.

Charlotte Wenger purchased this farmhouse in 1980

Why Charlotte Wenger chose Pennsylvania Dutch Country

We raise chickens and steers, and overlook beautiful farmland. If you want the true experience of Amish Country, it's here! You could spend the day just sitting on the front porch overlooking the meadows, and watching the Amish and Mennonite neighbors living life, and traveling the road. If you like to walk, jog, or ride bike, you'll enjoy the back roads with very little traffic.

Enjoy the drive through beautiful farmland! We're located off the beaten path, and only fifteen minutes from the Amish country of Intercourse and Bird-In-Hand. Take a peek in the chicken house on our farm, and maybe even pet a steer. Relish the view of cattle grazing in the meadow, and the horse and buggy traffic traveling down the road. There is a one room school house located beside our home. During school months, watch Amish and Mennonite children at play as you sit in our back yard. You'll experience the culture as you travel the neighborhood and savor the view from the front porch.

Wonderful experience. Comfortable Home!

  • 5 of 5

A friend and I stayed 3 nights in Charlotte and Elvin’s beautiful farmhouse, while visiting Lancaster county recently. They were very friendly and greeted us when we arrived. The rooms were comfortable and fully equipped and ready for us to enjoy our stay there. Watching the children play next door at the one room school house was an added bonus. We really felt like we were in the heart of Lancaster Co, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The home is within 15-20 Minutes of Bird in Hand, intercourse, and the Sight and Sound Thester. I would highly recommend staying in their home if you plan to visit Lancaster. We plan to stay there on our next visit,

It was the perfect retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had been to the Lancaster area before, stayed in a hotel. But this was a totally different experience, there was a calf being born next door when we arrived and we stopped to notify the farmers. The roads were all lined with cornfields and soybeans, it is a working farm. It was peaceful and quiet, with great walking roads and beautiful scenery. If you want to be on the tourist strip in the middle of things, this imight not be for you. If you want to feel a part of a community and don't mind a bit of a drive home, and a country setting, it is wonderful. The apartment was immaculate and had everything we needed, our hosts could not have been better. We went to some of the usual tourist spots, drove segways at Gettysburg, Hershey and Carlisle car shows, a livestock auction. But the best part of the vacation was coming back through the countryside, sharing the road with Amish buggies and bicycles, and living next door to the country schoolhouse and watching the children bicycle to school and play - outside - all the games that I played growing up. We all hope that we can stay here again when we come back in a few years!

Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our week at Charlotte and Elvin"s farm. They are very friendly and perfect hosts. The rental is very clean and comfortable. The countryside is so beautiful and quiet. It was relaxing to sit on the porch and watch the world go by. We enjoyed all the animals on the farm, especially the baby chicks.

We would absolutely stay again if we are in the area.
