2 Bedroom 2 Bath Loft With Private Courtyard Close To The Mississippi River

So…. what in the world is a Camelback? A Camelback is a classic New Orleans-style shotgun house with a second story over the back. We hope you enjoy the space and wonderful light that our home offers plus our private, outdoor courtyard !

This newly restored two-bedroom, two-bath century-old home blends historic character with modern convenience. The upstairs loft includes a king bed and full bath, while downstairs, you will find a queen bedroom, full bath, kitchen and open living room with vaulted, 24-foot ceilings. Dining is informal, either at the unique, circular kitchen counter or in the private outdoor garden patio, with a 2-burner gas grill and colorful adirondack chairs.

Our home offers a well-appointed kitchen, two matching “cruiser” bicycles, central air and heat, washer/dryer, high speed Wifi, new beds, a large and comfortable futon, flat screen TV and fluffy sheets and towels.

We are a 20-minute walk from Frenchmen Street and the French Quarter, or hop in a cab or the No. 5 bus, is nearby. Or borrow our bikes and go on an adventure !

Ted and Lara are proudly bi-city… dividing their time between New Orleans and Atlanta. The only difficulties we’ve found are the limited number of weeks in the month and the vexing Saints-Falcons rivalry. Partners in an international design firm, we share a love of unique places and old things. We carefully restored both homes with the desire to create places that are warm, inviting and a little quirky… with comfortable spaces to gather with friends, read or just relax in solitude. Cool Bywater home base

My husband and I spent a few nights at this Bywater cottage with our adult kids. It was well stocked with anything that we needed. We walked to Frenchman St and the French Quarter. Just a few blocks toward the water you will find a big maroon crescent bridge that brings you into a park with gardens and walking/biking trails. Markey's bar is right across the street. We had a delicious brunch at The Country Club restaurant, also across the street. We enjoyed delicious breakfast sandwiches at Satsuma, just around the corner and another delicious breakfast at Horns, which is about a 10 minute walk. But we only scratched the surface when it came to the many food options available in this area of colorful and cool homes.

A quiet bijoux in walking distance to the music and French quartier

In a quiet neighborhood you will find a lovely cottage furnished in style. There is a nice outside patio with a Weber Grill (didn't use, the restaurants are to good in NOLA), a very well equipped kitchen and even 2 Beach cruisers ready for use.

Whenever in NOLA we will come back to this Bywater Beauty!

Great Bywater home and location!!

Highly recommend staying in Ted and Lara's great home. The house was more than expected, as well as the Bywater area in a whole. Spent much more time in the Bywater area than we had planned due to the great locals at Markey's bar that filled us in about the area, from The Country Club to the local dive bars in the area to the Bacchanal wine bar, The Joint bbq, and everything in between. Definitely would stay here again A++

exactly as presented. plus some pleasant surprises

We really enjoyed our stay. So comfortable in a very good location. Our friend from Oregon was focused on NOLA's good music and good food. We enjoyed all. Of note, The Country Club completed a 1.5+ million remodel 8+/- months ago. It is quite beautiful. In the process they acquired the/or a chef from Commander's Palace, changed the menu which is quite affordable and VERY good. Saturday and Sunday Brunch reservations are so popular that you now would be safe to reserve 2 months in advance (according to the manager and personal experience) however they do serve at the bar, first come first serve. We also discovered an Italian restaurant (via a local) on Frenchman St., Adolfo's over the Apple Barrel Bar. 11 tables, great food, most evenings expect a wait, but worth it. You can enjoy the live music downstairs while waiting. We also enjoyed shopping at the French Market for farm fresh veggies and grilling on the patio. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the week and loved showing our West Coaster the true heart and sole of the South.

Great Space, Great Location

We've been to New Orleans many times and have stayed in hotels and homes all over the city, but this was our favorite place so far. The location, first of all, is wonderful. It's only about a 15 minutes walk to Frenchman street, but there is plenty to do right in the neighborhood. Most mornings started with a run in the riverside Crescent Park - just two blocks away, followed by a stop in for some fresh Popeye juice at Satsuma cafe. It's easy walking to some other great restaurants as well. Nice neighbors too.

The house itself is charming and so thoughtfully decorated. The beds are comfortable, the living space open and airy, and everything we needed was there. We especially loved having the fenced in patio area to hang out in for morning coffee or for quiet evenings when you just feel like getting a pizza from down the street instead of going out.

An extra bonus was the use of the bicycles. They allowed us to cover more ground than we would have otherwise and enabled a great picnic experience in City Park. We loved this little place and would definitely stay here again!
