3 Bedroom Cabin/sleeps 6 With Mountain Views And Modern Accommodations

Go to for more info. Whether you need a getaway from the stress of the city, or looking for some of the most acclaimed outdoor activities and scenery in the Mid-Atlantic, LostRiver77 has it all. Situated at the top of the ridge overlooking the George Washington National Forest and the Appalachian Mountains, LostRiver77 will allow you to relax and enjoy the best of West Virginia.

The nearly 2,000 square foot home is part of a homeowners association to take care of the roads and general properties, and has all of the charm of a mountain cabin but with the comforts of a modern home. It sits on five acres, which are great to explore right out the back door. The overall design is mid-century modern, and we are constantly renovating and making changes to the design elements of the home. The three spacious bedrooms sleeps up to six people comfortably with new beds, including a king, queen, and two singles (which can be converted to a king bed).

The living room has a new flat screen LCD TV with plenty of channels through cable tv, and a DVD/BluRay player. We have an assortment of movies to watch, or you can bring your own; perfect for a quiet movie night on the couch. We also have free wi-fi available that is amazingly fast via fiber optic lines.

The stone wood-burning fireplace nearly takes up one side of the living room wall and is the focal point of the space.

The kitchen has all of the conveniences you will need to entertain for a house full of friends or just cook for two. There is a refrigerator, stove and oven, a microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and plenty of space. It comes stocked with cookware and dishes, glasses (including wine and champagne flutes --- of course), silverware, modern coffee maker, and other kitchen essentials (fresh herbs are planted right outside the door). There is also a four-seat breakfast table next to the kitchen to enjoy your coffee while you start your day.

The sun porch boasts the best overlook views of the mountains and forest. There is a large couch and seating area to relax, enjoy the breezes and sounds of nature, and get lost in a good book or conversation. The porch also has a dining room table that can be expanded to fit up to eight people. Perfect for a nice evening dinner with friends with amazing scenic views.

The deck extends the entire side of the house and has views of both sides of the ridge. There is a brand new six-burner gas grill, some adirondack chairs, and a new patio table and seating for up to eight people. In the yard next to the deck, there is a large open fire pit to enjoy, as well. Plenty of space to get a game of cornhole (also available) started while hanging out on the deck.

Lost River has quite a bit of activities to enjoy if you are the adventurous type. There are numerous hiking trails, rafting/canoeing, horseback riding, skiing and fishing. If you want to enjoy a nice dinner out or grab a drink and socialize among the other residents, there are several choices including the Guest House Inn at Lost River (restaurant and bar -- and a pool), a brewpub in the nearby town, and several other places to grab a bite or drink close by.

All said, we love Lost River for so many reasons. We know that you will love it just as much as we do.

Why Greg Roberts and Daniel Brewer chose Lost River

We have heard so much about Lost River from our friends, who were spending a lot of time here. So we decided to come up and see what it was all about. We saw this property and fell in love immediately. The views took our breath away and the style of this home was unique for the area. After the first night we stayed in this house, we woke up to views of fog rolling over the mountains. We stood there, drinking our coffee and looking at this view, and knew that we made the right decision for a getaway from our busy lives.

Although it is nearly perfect as it is, we constantly like to change and update our designs so you will see things change from time to time. We have so many great plans to add even more views from nearly every room of the house, increase the deck square footage, add more artwork (we love to collect art as well), and so much more. We hope that you will go on this journey with us and return as often as you can!

What makes this house unique

The architecture of this home is unique for this area, and our mid-century modern decor blends well with it.

Throughout the year, we maintain a pest maintenance, but since the cabin is in the forest, there can be bugs and pests in and around. This is just the normal circumstances of being in a forest. Please be away prior to renting.

We'll return

  • 5 of 5

Cabin was ideal for our small group. Spent late afternoons and early evenings around the outdoor fire pit, taking in amazing sunsets. When the temperature dropped, we moved inside and spent time by the beautiful indoor fire place. Rooms we very comfortable. Sunroom was great for meals. Very close to the Guesthouse for those looking to get cocktails or dinner one evening, but you could also spend your entire time enjoying the view from the cabin.

Stunning views, tasteful decor - everything you could want in a remote mountaintop retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This home was a treat for our family from beginning to end. The stunning views would be reason enough to stay here, but as a bonus the house is decorated beautifully, the kitchen well appointed, the living room has a gorgeous fireplace and the yard has a huge, natural stone firepit. Because it is remote, we stocked up on groceries and grilled pork, ribeyes, hot dogs and more on the lovely gas grill. We roasted marshmallows by the campfire pit, hiked nearby with the dog, and when it rained, we cozied up to the fireplace, played board games and watched movies. The beds and linens are extremely nice and comfortable, and the artwork so tasteful. If I HAD to pick an area of improvement, it would only be cabinet space for the groceries/dry goods. Since you may want to buy a ton of groceries to last the duration of your stay (markets are a good 20-30 min. away), there may be more than the limited cabinet space can fit. Oh, and regarding the ladybugs of other reviews, yes, they are there, but not enough that I would have thought to comment on it. Besides, ladybugs don't hurt anyone. Thank you so much for allowing us to visit your home, Greg and Daniel!!! We'd love to come again sometime.

Wonderful get away

  • 5 of 5

The location was great and the home was beautifully decorated. The kitchen was well stocked, the bedding and towels were great quality and the artwork was really interesting. All the coziness of the mountains while still feeling very sophisticated. Most importantly, the owners were very responsive to all questions. I will definitely plan on staying at this house again. They also allow dogs. My big dog had a wonderful time romping in the yard and taking long walks with us. I highly recommend this beautiful home!

Great scenic views

  • 3 of 5

Recently stayed with a total of 4 adults and 3 dogs.

Pros: remote location, beautiful views, amazing star gazing at night, animal friendly, two beds on main level are very comfortable.

Cons: infestation of lady bugs in the house (I realize that's part of "country living" but it was a bit out of control), water pressure in hall bath sink and master shower was barely a trickle. IMO the pics on VRBO make it seem nicer inside than it actually is (to be fair - that's not uncommon).

Basically what I'm saying is for 2 nights for a total of just under $700 I expected a lot nicer, but I suppose that's what you get with VRBO and all the associated fees. btw the owners were responsive and nice to deal with.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying and for the feedback! Sorry that the ladybugs were in the cabin. Seems the entire area got hit really bad with them during this time and was unexpected. We have had the cabin treated as part of our ongoing pest maintenance, and have had no issues since. But yes, having a cabin in the woods is prone to these occurrence on rare occasions. We’ll look into the water situation as this is the first we heard of it and no issues with guests after you but nevertheless, we will have it reviewed. Thank you again for the feedback!! So glad you enjoyed the area and the quiet nature of Lost River 77!
