Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom/1 Bath Upstairs Suite 3 minutes to Downtown Hot Springs! Sleeps 4

We want your stay to feel like you stayed somewhere special so here is what we did. Post lamps and cobblestone brickwork mark each side of the driveway as you drive up to the entry gate, looking straight ahead is an old streetlight we refurbished to tie everything together. Type in your code and gain access to the private concrete parking in the rear of two 30's era two story homes. Walk around to the front door and you will notice the plants hanging from the the second story veranda among other places. You don't need a key, type in the key-code again and unlock the door. The monitored security alarm is there for your peace of mind while you are staying. If you noticed the video cameras as you were walking by them, they just sent me an email letting me know you have arrived. This suite is around 1000 square feet with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, townhouse style. It has been completely remodeled throughout, maintaining the charm of its era including that veranda you noticed stretching across the entire front of the house. You will see the hardwood floors and the staircase leading up. As you ascend, it will begin opening up into the living area giving you that feeling of being in a loft apartment. The windows are tall, covered by 2" blinds for you privacy, and surrounded by mahogany stained trim. The living room is small, but laid out well. There is a comfy leather sleeper sofa and recliner, a wall mounted 55" flat screen TV (w/Cable & Netflix) and a desk in the corner with some information for you. For your computer gadgets, there is Wi-Fi or you can plug in right at the desk. The Master Bedroom has the pizzazz with a tray ceiling, ornate fixture and marble fireplace and it's still big enough for king sized bed. The second bedroom is large as well and has its own charm with a queen size bed, lots of drawer space and some extra storage space for the empty luggage. The king bed is soft and the queen is firm to accommodate different preferences. The bathroom is custom tile with a curved tub for some extra room and plenty of linens. It has all the appliances you would find at home – side by side refrigerator w/ice-maker, gas range, over the range microwave, dishwasher, a washer/dryer combo, coffee maker, a cappuccino machine and even a panini grill.

If you would rather be outdoors, you could sit on the veranda, turn on the ceiling fan, enjoy the fresh air while sipping your favorite beverage. In the back there is another sitting area under the canopy of the tall trees where you can do some grilling on the big 5-burner gas grill and be sure to take note of the butterfly garden we just started.

We also keep a few people handy for those unforeseen issues you might encounter, they are just a few blocks away to keep your stay as pleasant as possible.

About K Maruther

I have lived in Hot Springs since 1976, retired.

K Maruther purchased this apartment in 1977

Why K Maruther chose Hot Springs

It was once an office, bought the building next door as well. The buildings were rentals since I moved the office. Over the years I decided on remodling the buildings. As we began remodeling it morphed into a complex with 4 apartments and a concrete parking lot.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a lovely time and will definitely have this location on the top of my list if we return to Hot Springs!

Clean, comfortable, and classy apartment! Loved the charm of the restored home.

  • 4 of 5

We were feeling a little skeptical as we pulled through the neighborhood but the gated parking, video surveillance and alarm system helped us feel comfortable right away. This space was great for us to spend the night in Hot Springs. Everything was spotless. Furnishings and bedding were excellent. Three TVs made my two teenagers quite happy. ;-)

If I ever travel to Hot Springs again I would definitely stay here again!

Large, private, secure, near downtown Hot Springs

  • 4 of 5

I booked this apt instead of a hotel, reasoning that a whole upstairs apt would be much quieter than a hotel, plus save on meals by using the kitchen. This apt's neighborhood took some getting used to; the apt has electric parking gates and entry alarms, which it sure needs in this neighborhood. The layout was comfortable with a living room, 2 bedrooms, a full laundry and kitchen, except dishwasher soap was missing. Front bedroom is much quieter than back bedroom, which is oriented toward Hwy 7. Owner's agent was very responsive to all phone calls and emails. The rental is about 1.5 mile drive to Hot Springs free parking downtown. After getting over the initial shock of the neighborhood, this place turned out to be OK, considering one would always be driving the car from its gated parking lot to wherever, and never need to actually walk the neighborhood.

Owner's Response: We do understand that our guests don't know our neighborhood or the Park Avenue Historical District like we do. The gated parking and security features are there so our guests have peace of mind, not out of necessity. Guests who come for a single night stay, may not have a chance to see the neighborhood for what it is, it is a bustling urban environment. The Chief of Police recently spoke about the Park Avenue area, calling it the safest community in Hot Springs. The neighbors, Bob lives on the one corner of the street, he keeps the yard looking good for us. Crystal lives across from him, a very nice lady. Joe lives across the street, and Preacher is on the far corner of our street, all good people. There are three more vacation rentals in a one block radius from ours. A one of a kind Coffee Shop, a food truck court, a retired city director, and our Justice of the Peace are only two blocks away in one direction, the other, two Historic Bed and Breakfast's and a brand new Amphitheater/ Memorial park, currently under construction. One of the cross streets, Pullman, leads to a major hiking trail, soon to be open for the International Mountain Biking Association. It is affiliated with Spa City Cycling in the shopping center directly behind the apartments. Cyclists ride by often, as there is a bike lane all the way to Downtown and through. Guests who like to hike, walk through the neighborhood to the trails. Other guests walk to Downtown regularly. Pullman was blocked today as they are laying new electrical lines for the new sidewalk lighting project that was funded by private donations to enhance Park Avenue. We are quite proud of our neighborhood.

Super cute apartment

  • 5 of 5

Beats a hotel any day of the week. Everything was perfect, no complaints. We met the owner the last day of our stay and he was more than courteous and very receptive to suggestions for improvement (not that there was much). The place was clean and perfect for our Memorial Day weekend away on the motorcycles.

The Park Avenue Historical district is just 3 minutes to Downtown Hot Springs National Park & Bath House Row with Shopping, Live Theater, Magic Shows, Wax Museum, & Fine Dining. A revitalization of the area is already underway. Just two blocks away a new city park is being constructed, as is beautification of the main intersection leading to the property with new green areas, bus stop, and flower gardens. A short drive will get you to Oaklawn Racetrack/Casino, Magic Springs-Crystal Falls Amusement/Water-park, Superwinch RV Park, Mid America Science Museum, Arkansas Alligator Farm. A little farther, you could visit Garvin Gardens botanical gardens, Adventureworks Zip Line tours, or one of our three beautiful lakes that surround Hot Springs with marina's, boating, watersports, parasailing and more. Whatever it is you are looking for you can find it.
