This house is a brand new 1440 square-foot southwestern style air conditioned home. It is 3 bedroom, 2 baths with a huge great room that includes a 6 person dining table, high end granite/stainless steel kitchen, dry bar, fireplace, and more. The property is 1/2 acre with unequaled desert views and dock access to the secluded south end on Martinez Lake. It is a quick walk down a 100 yard path to the dock (2 slips of the 4 are for this property) and the shared 350 square-foot deck, cantilevered out over the water. Easy access right on Martinez Lake Road, half-way between Fisher's Landing and Martinez Lake Resort. Lots of parking for cars, boats, and trailers. If you have a larger group, you can rent the adjoining property (#7053483) which also sleeps 6 and shares the 4-slip dock and the deck). Holiday weekends are 4-night minimum ($1200.00)
We are a Law Enforcement family from San Diego, CA. My wife, kids and I love vacationing here at "the river", and have owned property at Martinez Lake for more than 25 years. We visit as much as possible as the house is ideal for a weekend (or even a week) of fishing, boating, and relaxing. In 2014, we built this custom house on 1/2 acre of land.

We custom built this house last Spring specifically as a lake vacation home for our family as well as rental for our guests. Every room and detail was chosen in order to make the house perfect for a weekend getaway. It has the best of everything, plenty of parking, and access to a beautiful secluded cove at the South end of the lake. 2 of the 4 slips at our private dock are included.

Rupert Linley cancelled our trip and kept $300 of my money.
One of my guests, a disabled Marine, informed me a week out that he intended to bring his service dog. I contact the owner 6 days before the trip and informed him of the situation. I offered to hire a cleaning company, forfeit the cleaning deposit, or clean the place ourselves. The owner informed me he doesn't have the house cleaned because he finds the renters take better care of the place if they clean it themselves and said he did not want the service animal in the house. I again explained the dog is a service animal and offered to provide him with the documentation.
Shortly thereafter, he sent an email again stating he was not comfortable with the dog at his property. I sent him a follow-up message stating that my hands were tied because it was a service animal and that if he didn't want us we expected a full refund. Several minutes later I received a message stating “Mr. Jessup, Per your request, your stay is cancelled. Thank you.” I immediately sent a follow-up email stating that we never cancelled and I offered several options for cleaning and provided the certificates for the service animal.
I worked for about two weeks through HomeAway and direct contact with Rupert to get a refund. A check did come but was short $300.00. I contact him and again he fronted the narrative that we cancelled “when you refused to follow the no pets rule, and demanded a refund, that was a cancellation. My only obligation at that point was to try mitigate my damages, which I was partially able to do. I didn’t charge you the other costs associated with your late cancellation. That is the end of the matter.”
HomeAways last response was “If a resolution cannot be reached after efforts to contact the advertiser regarding the situation, you may need to consider other avenues. We cannot advise you on how you should proceed, and we are sorry for the negative experience you have had and that this dispute has not yet been resolved to your satisfaction.”
In short, our trip was ruined.
This house is very clean! My family and I have stayed here several times last summer. It's in the perfect location to walk to both restaurants and the store. My kids loved the space outside and it has just the right amount of parking for our truck and trailer. We would stay here every time we came out if we could! The owner is great to work with!
Beautiful new house! This house was perfect for our 4th of July vacation. It is new, clean, lots of room and centrally located. The main room was very spacious with new furniture and appliances in the kitchen. Rooms were good size, also with new furniture.
The house is in a good location, within walking distance of the store, restaurant and boat launch. A little further walk to the Fisher restaurant, bar and boat launch.
It was a fun time and a great place to stay!
This home was perfect for our vacation. Very clean, fully stocked kitchen with everything we needed to cook meals each night, very nice appliances and furniture, comfortable beds, and easy to clean concrete floors. The dock is just a short walk away, which was nice for loading up the boat. Also, having the TV and Dish network was really nice for our 4 year old, after a day on the river she could relax in a nice cool house.
Every summer my husband and his parents come to Lake Martinez to spend about a week on the river. Last year was my first time to go, we were only able to stay a couple days and I was thankful because the home they rented was a mess. So, this year when I knew we would be attending the whole time I was determined to find a nice place and I did!!
The owners were very friendly and easy to arrange everything with. Thankful for such a nice place to stay and hoping we can possibly stay again next year!
I would like to start out by saying Rupe you did a fantastic job on the house. It is an open floor plan so if you are in the kitchen or living room you can hold a conversation with people. There is TV with Dish Network so at night you can sit on the couch and watch a movie or just TV. The house stayed cold even when it is 109 out which is a very good thing when you come off the river. It also stayed cold through the night to help you sleep. The kitchen is very nice has everything you need to cook a meal and eat. It is easy to clean the floors are stamped concrete so any sand from the river can easily be swept up. We had no issues with noise or people. The cars you can't hear them unless you are outside in the back, we sat on the porch and it was nice and quiet. I am sure on big weekends you will have all kinds of things but that will happen no matter where you stay. What I should do is write a bad report so I can use the house every weekend but that would not be fair plus I don't have that much time. If you want to take your family out to the river this is the house to stay in. Your by the restaurant and store if you would like to do that or you can stay right there and cook a homemade meal. You can walk to the deck by the water and fish like I did with my daughter or just sit on it and watch nature. It has a nice dock for your boat. There is plenty of parking and the neighbors are very kind as well.
The kitchen was nice and the bedrooms are fine. However, there is no furniture other than a bed in the master bedroom. The closet was full of cleaning stuff and linens, so really know where to unpack your stuff besides the floor. The house was fine, just no lake view, access to the dock through the neighbors property, lots of bugs, and too much noise from the main street and the neighbors passing by.
The neighbors continuously drove back and forth, the driveway is shared, by the house between there six vehicles and partying keeping us awake. As we fished off the dock the next evening with my children, we had to witness the drama and profanities from the partying house guests at the dockside house.
The bugs were crazy, even with bug spray we were eaten alive. Too much dirt.
Hunting, fishing, and off-roading during Fall and Winter, water-sports duning the Spring and Summer. Abundant desert wildlife, including quail, raccoons, bobcats, coyotes, wild burros and many types of birds. Wildlife preserve nearby. 25 miles from Yuma, but the Martinez Lake area includes 2 bar/restaurants, a general store, boat repair, and camping.
