What makes this house unique

Great place for family reunions. Plenty of room and very relaxing on the lake!!

Guestbook comments from the owner

This guest left my house a complete mess with pet droppings that weren't cleaned up.. My property manager also stated they never tried contacting her like they said. Be careful renting your home to these people they didn't leave a great review also where most of my reviews are very positive!

Lake life at a great house!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay so much last year we came back again this year. Great spacious home on the lake with a dock for our boat. Already looking forward to our 3rd annual trip next year! A special thanks to the owner for being so responsive and gracious.

Beautiful views and lake; house needs cleaning and some work

  • 3 of 5

Upon arrival via a long graveled road (30 min to downtown Ellsworth on winding roads) the house was easily accessible via the key holder. However, the excessive humidity inside the house was evident as the dehumidifier that had been turned on was already full. The mold behind the downstairs shower stall is extreme. There was dust all around the house and on all of the many tchotchkes, which are everywhere. It seemed that no one had been in the house two weeks prior to our arrival, so the house was rather "stale". The other upstairs shower nozzle was off and we put it back on as best as we could. The most interesting room was the upstairs level bear/moose room, but since we came in the summer, we never spent time in there.

It would have been nice to be able to open the sliding glass door to the outside from the kitchen, but it has been broken for a considerable amount of time and there was a note asking for us not to touch it. So, in order to go outside, we had to go through a back hallway or back out through the front door. I have let the owner know about these various issues and she said she is taking care of them. Because we came from SC, I would not pick as remote a location next time.

All that being said, the view from the house is heavenly and we spent most of our time on the lake on the paddle boat or floats purchased by us or visiting local towns and parks.

very spacious home with much needed cleaning

  • 2 of 5

We just stayed at this home for a family getaway for Memorial Day weekend. This omcluded 16 people from ages 1-40 When we arrived we were very pleased with how big the home was. As we each settled in to our areas we came across alot of issues with the upkeeping of home. One of the bedrooms had a broken bedroom door. Door was hanging off hindges. We called the property manager several times with no responce. They charge a cleaning fee when you book but the home hasnt been cleaned at all. We found soiled clothing under bed and cobwebs in every corner of the home. If you plan on booking this home I wouldnt count on the grill. it is a small rusty grill that when we turned it on only one side would light up.The lake was beautiful, but the pedal boat they say is available onproperty does not work(petals broken). Like I said Property Manager never returned my calls. I would NOT recommend this home I was very disappointed.

Owner's Response: Hi. I'm the owner and I apologize for some of the issues. Grill was replaced and am having boat fixed also. I am a widow in NJ and depend on my property manager. I will discuss with them the cleaning and broken door. I wish you would've contacted me first.

House has recently been remodeled but there are some details that have been left out.

  • 3 of 5

The house is aesthetically appealing but is lacking in a few areas and some things are a bit unfinished. The cleaning crew that they have does not do the best job and there were some areas that we had to clean when we got there. The lake is extremely muddy and not much fun for the adults that went on the trip, but the kids didn't mind as much as we did. The propert managers were very punctual and helpful when a problem arose. We brought our own kayaks and did enjoy visiting the island right across the lake. This house however is a 45 minute drive to a town with shopping centers, even though it's inly 15 miles away, and is down a dirt road 2.5 miles, which we did not know when we rented it. This was quite an inconvenience. Over all a nice stay, all things considering

It is a very large home in a very quiet area of Maine. Lovely!

  • 3 of 5

The house is very large and has a lot of comfort and emenities. It lacks dining seating for 16 people which is how many the home could sleep. In addition, there are many unfinished parts of the house... Including outlet covers and switches for lights. Also, our children found a knife on the sand on the beach and other garbage by the water. The house was mostly clean but the carpet in the first floor living room smelled awful. We had a great time staking in Maine but are not sure we would stay at that house again.

We had a fabulous vacation but the house could use some improvements.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed! As for the debris by the water I notified my property manager of that. I added the additional dining table earlier this year to hold more people but I really like to rent to groups of 12 rather than 16, so it does accomadate. There is another dining area outside too. Smell on carpet is first I heard. Have addressed it with property manager. Unfinished sections confuses me. There may be one outlet cover missing? All rooms are finished. Addressed also. Thank you for your stay and responses.

Super location for getting away from the chaos

  • 5 of 5

This house is huge, clean, well maintained and the owner is very responsive to questions and concerns. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out and be where they want to be. With 3 bathrooms and lots of space for your stuff, this place is great for larger groups (or smaller if you want to feel like you're living in a Mansion). With 2 bedrooms on the main floor, it is perfect for those that don't feel like managing the stairs. We had a great time in the evenings while cheering on the USA in the Olympics from the multiple family rooms. The lake was a nice attraction for both kids and adults. Many hours were spent swimming, kayaking, fishing or just floating around. Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are nearby and we also took advantage of Lucerne Golf course, which is about a half hour drive. The kids enjoyed the Wild Acadia fun park with the Go-Carts, Mini golf and ropes course. The family friendly fishing trip out of Bar Harbor was great and we caught more fish than we could keep track of. The folks that went on the whale watch trip also were successful and had a good time. We even did our own lobster dinner. Plenty of shopping nearby in Ellsworth. If I had the opportunity I would rent this property again. It's so quiet here that my friend was joking with me that I should have picked a place that wasn't so noisy. If all you want to hear is the sound of the Loons, this is the place.
