5 Star through and through
Great value. Well maintained. Great host.
Perfect location, beautifully appointed, clean, and very comfortable!
This home is so warm and comfortable. The host is very responsive and accommodating. I was mostly there alone, and I had visitors at various times during my 3 month stay. I enjoyed walking to local restaurants, particularly Jaipur for delicious Indian fare. Beverly Hills and Westfield mall are a short drive. You can walk to the train and go into Santa Monica. The beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need. I’ll definitely stay here again. I’ve already recommended this gem to friends. The only negative is it can’t be booked for short stays of less than 30 days. I highly recommend this home whether for business or pleasure, whether solo traveler or a family. Thank you, Jill, for sharing this special place with me!
All the comforts of home
My husband and I stayed at the cottage for eight weeks while our home in LA was undergoing construction. We were so pleased with our choice. The cottage is in a very convenient location, close to two freeways as well as the Expo line. It is also convenient to every service, from dry cleaning to an array of beauty salons. You can walk to one of the best movie theaters in LA as well as a great brunch at The Six, a fun gastropub experience at The Stalking Horse, and the famous muffins at the Zen Bakery. Ethnic takeout choices are also excellent.
Even though many stores and restaurants are close at hand, the cottage itself is remarkably quiet and serene. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the comfortable chairs in the sunny living room in complete peace. Consistent with this atmosphere, the cottage creates a spa experience, with towels much fluffier than the ones we have at home, Egyptian cotton sheets, and very nice toiletries. And, as another reviewer mentioned, the king sized bed is very comfortable,
I am a cook, and I was worried about whether the kitchen would satisfy my standards. I was impressed with the well-stocked kitchen and the dishes and cookware. I was even more impressed to see that nearly all of the spices I brought from home were unnecessary because the kitchen included a supply. In addition to the kitchen, we thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor grill which, frankly, cooked food more evenly that ours does at home.
Also convenient, we could easily park three cars in the driveway!
I strongly recommend the cottage and it’s proprietors who were completely gracious and responsive. We would recommend the place to our closest friends and relatives.
Oasis in West LA
My husband and I stayed here for ten weeks while visiting UCLA.
I won’t repeat what is in the other reviews, which are truthful and accurate. Jill and Tim are great hosts -- easy and instant communication.
“The Cottage” feels like your home immediately. Not a house that is filled with way-too-personal things nor a sterile no-art-on-the walls soulless rental.
It’s Los Angeles. You have to drive. A lot. However, without getting in a car, you can enjoy walking in the neighborhood, buy basic grocery items, get a haircut, go to the movies, and sample a variety of restaurants. Braver souls can bike to UCLA. It’s an easy commute on the Metro line to USC.
A wonderful place in an interesting neighborhood!
Beautiful home exactly as described
My wife and I stayed in this home for 3 months while living and working in LA.
Jill and Tim are great owners. From the first moment that we reached out to them they were very responsive, friendly, and easy to work with which made the entire process and stay that much more rewarding.
The home is exactly as described. It is very clean, comfortable, modern but charming, and is well stocked with everything you could need. The floor plan is generally open and leads to the back deck and back yard. The back yard has a detached garage which includes the clothes washer and dryer.
The neighborhood is very quiet and safe. It is an easy walk to the Metro Expo light rail line (about 5 minutes) and there are many restaurants and a mall within a 10 minute walk. The 405 and 10 are very close for an easy commuting.
This was just a great place to stay. I highly recommend it!
Charming, Comfortable, Calming & Close to UCLA
We recently stayed at this lovely home for more than 5 weeks while receiving medical care at UCLA. The drive to UCLA was very easy, and never took more than 15 minutes, even in heavy traffic. As others have said, the pictures are accurate, but this home offers so much more. It was the perfect place for a restful recovery. The back yard is an urban oasis, and was a wonderful place to take meals and relax. The house was very clean, beautifully decorated and has all of the comforts that anyone could want. The neighborhood is great and provides easy access to all major highways. The streets are lined with trees and we enjoyed walking the neighborhood daily. Most importantly, Jill and Tim were fantastic and a joy to work with. Recovering from surgery can be difficult, especially when you're away from home, however, this home was exactly what we needed and we'll remember it very fondly. We have no hesitation in strongly recommending this home for your stay in Los Angeles.
Conveniently located near many of Los Angeles’ top attractions, the home a short 3 minute walk to restaurants, movie theaters, shops and bars/nightlife. Our home is also only 4 blocks from the new Expo Line Metro station, where the train will take you to downtown Santa Monica in 15 minutes and downtown LA in about 40 minutes. Our home is a short drive to Westwood/UCLA, Beverly Hills, and the Getty Museum, only 6 miles from Santa Monica and Venice Beaches, and only 10 miles from downtown Los Angeles, including LA Live, Staples Center, and the Music Center. For athletic activities, nearby Rancho Park offers: a beautiful regulation golf course, tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball diamonds, soccer fields and children’s parks – less than 1 mile away.
Other nearby attractions: The Grove shopping mall, historic Farmers Market, The Dolby Theater, Hollywood & Highland shopping, historic Grauman's Chinese Theater, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame – are all within a 20 minute drive. Public transportation is available within a 3-5 minute walk.
