Beautifully maintained cottage in South Kent
The cottage is charming and tastefully and beautifully maintained. It has everything you need in an orderly way. The beds are comfortable and view is gorgeous, even on a rainy day. The screened porch is delightful. One could happily have a longer stay in this house. It is conveniently located to Kent which has a lot to offer. A+ experience.
Refined and rustic
We enjoyed our vacation here in this lovely, well-designed home away from home. All the rooms are cozy, with artfully arranged and carefully chosen furniture that fit the sensibility of each room. The enclosed sun porch, which was cool in the morning, warmed up in the course of each day and we watched the sky and an infinite collection of clouds move on, and off, the hillside forest. There were five of us for awhile during our stay, including a 4 month-old baby and there was plenty of room for us all. We could take breaks from each other as needed, and our grand daughter delighted in the over-head fans, the light that entered and left each room, and being carted about outside to learn about the rocks, and the pine needle carpet and the hummingbird. Thank you!
Great stay...great property
Just stayed here during parents weekend at South Kent School. Great location on a hilltop overlooking the school . Very peaceful and tranquil. Property was in great condition and highly recommend to those considering staying here. Thanks very much for your hospitality.
RFO review Oct 2017
Nice property. Easy to get to at this time of year, without the snow. Once there, user friendly. Would have liked more time at the property to enjoy the view and outdoors, but we are slaves to a schedule sometimes. The only item I would add is a coffee maker. Other than that, greatly enjoyed the property and would definitely use again. Easy to reserve, easy to pay, easy to find.
If you're planning a trip here (which you should) I'd say to you "look for the neighbor's Grateful Dead mailbox and sign, then take the next right. If you see the Phish "Fishman Donut" mailbox, you've gone too far."
My family (wife and 2 daughters) and I stayed here for almost a week. We loved it. The view is fantastic. The screened-in porch is where we spent most of our time either enjoying breakfast, having a beer or playing games. I also stayed in there during a massive rainstorm, watching the lightning and listening to the thunder as rain pleasantly sprayed onto me. The kitchen is solid, if a bit small and there is only 1 bed in the 2nd room. My kids slept together some nights and switched off on the floor for others. I cannot overstate how much we loved all the things we could access from this location; Lake Waramaug, Mt. Tom, Kent Falls Brewery, etc. Highly recommend!!!
Beautiful cottage in scenic setting
We spent a few days here to just escape to somewhere peaceful, and it fit the bill nicely. The cottage is well-kept and nicely appointed, and it's in a beautiful area of Connecticut near the NY border. There are lots of places to hike nearby, with beautiful lakes, streams, and waterfalls. The nearby village of Kent is quaint, but without many tourists--at least during the week when we were there.
