Our Magical Place

  • 5 of 5

This house is perfect for the unpretentious, quite, and isolated beauty of Slaughter Beach. This is my second time staying here with my two dogs, but this year my parents and sister came and they fell in love with Slaughter Beach too. All of us live in cities, and escaping here is truly that, an escape. The community here is welcoming and unassuming. The beach on one side of the house and across the street a protected wildlife life refuge. We saw some magnificent birds, including what appeared to be a bald eagle, on our long walks. The beach is gorgeous with a bay that keeps the water warm and relatively peaceful. Since the beach is a protected spawning ground for horseshoe crabs, there is no big development or build up. The dogs find it fascinating, inspecting the various horseshoe crab shells, seaweed, and other nifty treasures the ocean washes ashore. We love this spot so much, we plan to make it a family tradition, though once a year isn't enough! So, we will be visiting at the start and end of the summer season from now on.

The house is comfortable and has gorgeous views from the second or top unit's balcony. There are plenty of bathrooms and sleeping space, adequate kitchens, and a washer dryer in the bottom unit that is very handy to have.

Clean it out!!!!

  • 3 of 5

Nice place but someone needs to clean it out! Too many useless dishes too many useless knick knacks, def looks like a 90 year old grandma lives there that make it very hard to put the things renters bring away. Sugesstion get rid of allllll the ducks and wedding cake toppers and candle sticks and 1000 throw pillows!!! You need 10 cups 10 plates 10 bowls, one napkin holder I counted 3! You need to leave some space so we can put food away etc. so much junk!! Get rid of the huge fake fruit Bowles and huge clock and the canisters on the counter!!! The coffee table has a huge old frayed atangement throw it out !!! Huge vase in the corner is horrid !! Could be a nice place if you just make about 6 trips to good will. Take down the 80 s art the walls are covered w random 70s stuff that makes you feel attacked leave the ocean prints ditch the gold leaf framed art it's so out of place and makes it look crowed and dated

So in summary

Get rid of 70% of the crap and the place will work and feel 90% better

Visit with Dad

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful location. The beach, while rocky in places, was perfect. Practically deserted. The house was very neat and clean and tastefully decorated. I fell in love immediately. While there are no local convenience stores, there are plenty of towns and places to shop within 10-15 miles of the house. We were able to find everything we needed for our stay. The handicap amenities were convenient, since my mother-in-law uses a walker. During their visit, she was able to use the ramp and the handicap restroom with no issue. Thank you for a great stay.

Independence Day Weekend!

  • 3 of 5

We were looking to find a relaxed location to get away from the typical craziness of 4th of July weekend and this rental could not have been better in that respect. The location was off the beaten path, yet not far from shops and restaurants. It seemed almost too quiet and sleepy along this strip of bay road for the time of year we were visiting. However, that was the most special part of the trip! The beach is literally a stones throw from the back door and such a spectacularly peaceful stretch of rocky beachfront. Perfect for floating on a tube or gliding around on a SUP. Our pup absolutely loved the freedom of running around on the beach with the neighbors dogs. This was the other best part of the trip. Usually, our dog gets left out of vacation activities, but this one felt like it was all about her. There were a couple issues that would have been nice to know about ahead of time. First, there are no curtains in any of the common areas so don't expect any privacy from your upstairs and back yard neighbors. They will walk right by the open windows anytime they head to the beach or parking area. If you plan to cook you would be wise to bring your own pots, pans, and anything you might be looking for in the kitchen. The plates, silverware, and glasses there should be sufficient for most groups. The classic coffee maker was broken, but the Keurig worked. There is no grill at this home which was disappointing given the nice backyard space. The condition of the home was in need of simple repairs such as touching up the paint and it could probably use a deep clean. All that aside, I would absolutely return to this rental at Slaughter Beach!!

Wonderful escape

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful week for my family ! Especially for my teenager who was able to benefit from the handicap accessible unit as he has a disability , the unit was spacious , clean and very welcoming . We especially loved being steps from the beach . The sunrise and sunset breathtaking , the area is quiet and relaxing ! Just what we had in mind . Shops and restaurants 15 minutes away as well as Lewes and Dewey beaches ( with the traditional boardwalk beach experience ) we will definitely be back and want to keep this gem a little secret . Thank you for a great vacation :)

Dog days of summer

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay at Slaughter Beach. The area is quiet, the property was well maintained. The sunrises and empty beaches were amazing and the dolphins swimming by added a special touch.

We could have done without the black flies but that's nature.

The unit was clean and bug free when we got there, and surprisingly spacious.

There was a cable issue, but it was corrected within 30 min. It's a 10-15 min drive to the grocery store and about 30 min to the crowded busy Rehoboth if that's what your looking for. All in all a nice quiet friendly area.
