Exellent! Awesome time!!! Cabin was so cozy and welcoming!
Enjoyed the cabin immensely! Beautiful scenery! Close to everything. (We did have to go in to do wash because the washer only had hot water working. Wanted to let them know the downstairs toilet leaking and after the rain the road did wash a bit so needs grading. ) Happy we had 4-wheel drive. The experience at the Moonshine Gulch was so memorable! Sunday with the locals jamming was a great time! Betsy’s hospitality and burgers were awesome! Thank you for having us!! We would sure come back!
Just lovely accommodations in the Blackhills
My family and I loved the cabin, hanging out on the verandah every evening. During the day we saw the sights on our 6-day stay. Loved the views and the wildlife, lots of does with fawns in July. We all felt very much "at home." Thank you to the owners for a wonderful stay.
We were so pleased with our stay at this homey, rustic cabin in Rochford. If you want peaceful and relaxing this is it. I loved not-having internet in the home because I could truly disconnect from the world and find harmony. The view of the gulch and the town below is quaint and beautiful. The home as all the little things you may have forgotten to pack. The wrap around porch is fabulous. The cabin road is located just left of the alley next to the Moonshine Gulch Saloon--just drive upward--Google said I arrived at my destiny when I reached the Moonshine Gulch. Just look upward:) Things to do: many good books/magazines/games throughout the cabin; cook some nice meals; go for walk/bike at the Mickelson Trailhead which is 0.25 miles from the cabin; eat some of Betsie's fine burgers at the Moonshine Gulch Saloon; swim @ Roubideaux Lake & boat/fish @ Deerfield Lake; Black Hills Playhouse is a longer trip but worth it; Hill City has the PrairieBerry Brewery & Winery; Lead/Deadwood for the Sanford mining exhibit/landmark; Deadwood for the Museum/gambling/live Wild Bill re-enactment; ATV rentals at the Hwy 385 junction before going to Rochford...
Cabin has a washer & dryer, one shower, two toilets and vanities; there are no campfires allowed in Black Hills National Forest but cabin has full-size grill and plenty of patio furniture to seat about 10 or more; there are about 4-5 tv stations this was not an issue for us with everything else to do (we brought PS4 for our ten-year old with a couple games and that remedied his need of internet--he probably needed a techno break also :)
Don't forget to just breathe in that wonderful mountain air and hear the rustling creek below and Enjoy!
Wow!! Thanks for the wonderful review.... I don't think I could have written one that great myself.
So glad you enjoyed your stay. Sounds like you really made the most out of your vacation!
We loved the cabin! We definitely give it 5 stars.
We just happened to be there at peak time for colors. It was beautiful! The cabin had everything we needed. We took the "partially paved" road between Rochford & Hill City & was pleasantly surprised at how good the road was.
Wonderful getaway location!!
Many thanks to our hosts who own this wonderful cabin in the woods. Yes, the hill climbing up was tricky at first, but got easier each time. The cabin is comfortable, so nicely decorated, clean and well maintained. It met all of our needs! Be sure and stop in at the Moonshine Gulch Saloon for a great meal and warm conversation with others! And don't miss the Rochford Small Mall across the street! A fun little store with so many things to offer and a very nice woman running it! We loved the views out every window and the sound of the gentle river flowing by. The deck was perfect for relaxing after a long day of sight seeing. We saw so many of the surrounding sights. The entire trip was just perfect. The Black Hills are so beautiful! We will highly recommend this lovely cabin in the woods to all our friends! Thank you again for such a special time!
Just what we were looking for and more. It was perfect. Close to Rochford, yet very secluded.
