We had a great time at this property. Jim was so helpful with all our questions and was very prompt on addressing any issues we had. He has big plans for updating the place. We are looking forward to seeing what he does this winter. Would definitely be interested in renting this property again. Great location on the lake.
Great location for cottage but kitchen was almost unusable
Nice sandy beach but dock needed better upkeep. One plank was loose, ladder into lake had top step that was started to split open and side we docked boat on needed better way to protect boat from hitting dock.
Cottage seems to be undergoing some renovations, bathrooms were improved but needed more lighting in downstairs one. Beds were good, green linoleum tiles were loose and would stick to your feet when walked on. The owner should fix this. This is an old cottage and we understand that, having rented five other summers on Lake Wawasee but the difficulty in cooking in the kitchen was the worst we have experienced. The old pots and pans were hard to use as food stuck to them and they were very hard to clean. Did not use the portable dishwasher as it provided the only usable counter space also I think that directions for hook-up and use should be posted. When I tried to use microwave the first time, it caused fuse to blow that shut off refrigerator and everything in kitchen. Refrigerator light was always on and visible through gap in door seal, door needs to be leveled and rehung. Oven was dirty, old gas stove was difficult to light, only rear left burner was reliable.
Last, the old refrigerator on back porch needs to be fixed or removed.
Thank you for the feedback about the cottage. Believe it or not we have rented the house for four years with many return renters and have not had any complaints. Some of these issues are great suggestions like extra light in the bathroom and the difficulty with pots and pans. We will get some new ones. We could go through and address each of your items here on this forum, such as the dock is only two years old and the back fridge just needs to be plugged in but it is probably better just to let you know that the entire downstairs is under full renovation including new appliances and renters should not have the issues going forward.
