About Wendy Peck

Owned by the 4 children of G Richard & Helen M Peck, the property is maintained by Ozro and Wendy Peck who live just 3 miles up the road on the property that Ozro grew up on and has never moved away from. The other 3 siblings try to come "home" as often as possible, life pulled them away but part of each of them remains tied to this locale.

Wendy Peck purchased this farmhouse in 1930

Why Wendy Peck chose Chippewa Falls

This house holds many memories for Diane, David, Ozro & Avis along with their children as both generations have known it as Grandma's Place.

While the 4 were small their grandparents Joe and Rosa Aebly farmed here, milk cows and chickens were a part of life. Making balony in the basement, canning bounty from the garden, clothes out on the line drying & eating strawberries with angelfood cake are a few of the memories from the 1950s and 1960s. When cousins came from out of town hide and go seek in the dark along with tag were several of the games played in the yard.

The large front porch was a great place to gather on warm evenings, watching planes arrive or depart, watching fireworks that were shot off at the drvie-in theater or just talking.

Though the animals were no longer here, the next generation remembers the large garden along with their grandma generating many great smells coming from the kitchen as she cooked large meals for everyone that would gather. Grandpa spent time showing the boys how to do woodworking and fix things.

From the 70s thorough the 90s the land was farmed by the middle generation. Cousins continue to till the soil here.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The house has plenty of space for families to gather and make memories. If there isn't enough sleeping space a major chain hotel is less than 1/2 mile away. Though development is happening in the area, the house remains an oasis surrounded by farm fields. Mature trees and bushes in the yard and across the road make it a lovely place for birds to live.

We really liked the house. It had all the amenities and plenty of space for 4 couples. We had beautiful weather to sit under the maple tree and enjoy coffee & Bloody Marys. We would highly recommend if you are looking for a place in the area.

Cozy, Clean and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at this farmhouse over New Years Eve weekend. It was basic, but lovely, accommodated everyone beautifully and we had such a great time making memories here! It reminded all of us of our own Grandma's Place ;) It was especially cool reading the guest log and looking through the scrapbooks of the home's history. What a nice touch. We hope to come back in the future!

Home away from home

This was perfect for our family. We cooked breakfast and a couple lunches every day saving a lot of money. It is conveniently located with easy access to stores, restaurants and the city of Eau Claire. We loved it and enjoyed every evening by the fire pit!

Adorable and comfortable--great location!

  • 5 of 5

Convenient on/off major highway (Wisconsin 53), near Eau Claire and Chip Falls, where there is plenty to do. Lovely family farmhouse, all the amenities you need, decor and info provided by hosts is excellent. Water pressure is a challenge, but we adapted quickly. Sunny, airy rooms, well equipped kitchen, great wifi, decent beds, attentive but not intrusive hosts who provided more than enough local travel ideas and suggestions. Nice porches and fire ring. Truck traffic on road out front is loud and heavy on weeknights, but only affects front bedroom occupants and not at all on Fri/Sat nights. Great place, will re-book!!!
