About Nancy K. Mountford
Kent and Nancy are both marine biologists who love the sea and Manasquan. Kent's family owned the original cottage, which was destroyed in 2012 by Hurricane Sandy. This cottage captures the feel of the old cottage which was over 100 years old, but with all modern conveniences. Kent is now an environmental historian and writes newspaper columns and books from both here and our home in MD. Nancy also grows orchids on a commercial level.
Nancy K. Mountford purchased this Cottage in 1980
Why Nancy K. Mountford chose Manasquan
The original house on this property was in the family for over 90 years. We rebuilt new after Hurricane Sandy, putting it up on 8 ft. pilings and making it livable year round. This part of the beach is the best surfing beach in NJ. This summer has been wonderful for renting the beach house. We will be keeping the same rates for summer 2016 as 2015 until September 15, 2015 when we will have a small increase.
What makes this Cottage unique
Fantastic views from front and back; quick walk to the water - you can take a dip and come back to the outside showers and sit in the beach front or back chairs to sun. We are the third house from the Manasquan inlet which provides an endless parade of boats to watch from either the front or back porches and balconies. Families all know each other and are very friendly Scroll down and see the weather conditions as well. The best surfing beach in NJ is right out front! Prefer family groups and no 'group' rental or large parties allowed. Must be at least 25 years old (insurance requires this).

Great beach house
Great house and great location.
Great location, not for young children
The location was fantastic, right on a quiet, sandy beach. One morning we saw a pod of dolphins swimming up along the coast. Watching the constant activity; walkers, joggers, surfers and boats was a delight.
The planting of grasses in the front and back was thoughtful and correct.
The house is filled with personal items, of particular interest to small children. This made our stay much more challenging than we needed.
The selection of used condiments and toiletries left from previous renters was unnecessary and overwhelming.
Overall, the whole family enjoyed our stay and the adventures we shared there.
Great location and home. Would stay again.
Great house for family get together. Location location location
Great place to enjoy a summer vacation!
The house was a hit on all levels!
Weekend Getaway with the girls
Nancy and Kent are lovely hosts who take pride in the history of their home in Manasquan. The house has been in the family for close to 100 years and they share the history throughout the house. The house is very clean and comfortable. My daughters, their friends and myself had a wonderful stay and the location was awesome. The only feedback I would provide is that the home is probably not suited to young children due to the number of artifacts that the family has displayed. I had to keep reminding my daughters even though they are adults. We definitely enjoyed the use of the home and experience Manasquan.
Great house, great location :)
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at this beach house. The location is fantastic, right on the beach where you can watch the surfers. Handy cafes nearby. Beach passes, bikes and all sorts of other things included. Highly recommend!
Great family beach to swim, surf, fish and walk on boardwalk. Deep sea fishing and local seafood restaurants nearby. Ride our bikes (3) into town or to Allen Wood Park . Surf board, bogey board, beach chairs all here for you to use.
