Best place I stayed at the entire trip. Traveled with my 2 daughters in their 20’s. Doug was great!
We stayed there 4 nights and the place was perfect. Spacious, fully equipped kitchen with all appliances, dishes, utensils, etc. Nice eating area and very comfortable living room, able to spread out. Doug was very available and friendly and answered all of our questions. There were two bedsrooms with closets and dressers so we could unpack and not live out of our suitcases. The bathroom was beautiful, very modern, and the shower had a sauna to use. Plenty of hot water. An abundance of towels. The location was just a couple of blocks from good restaurants, gift shops, the Aquatic museum which was very worthwhile, and to stroll along the waterfront. Seward is a lovely town and it was enjoyable just to walk around. We took a day cruise with Major Marine Tours to see glaciers and wildlife and also took a hike one day to Exit Glacier which was only about a 15 minute drive and a nice hike. There was another hike to the Harding Icefields which takes a long time. We took about half of that trail to the meadow area which gave us a good workout and beautiful views. I would highly recommend spending time in Seward, more than we spent, and go kayaking or other activities. People were friendly and helpful. AND I WOULD DEFINITELY STAY AT DOUG’S place again if it was available!
Naomi. Traveled mid August
Very comfortable, clean, and good location
This property is located within easy walking distance of the downtown area. It is very clean, neat, and comfortable. It was a perfect place for the three of us. Highly recommended!
Great place to stay in Seward. Doug was wonderfully helpful and the place was very, very nice. We had a short but sweet stay and would love to come back.
Great host! Great property! If you know anything about Alaska properties, you will realize what a gem Doug has! Thanks for sharing your beautiful place with us!
Great place in Seward
We looked at a lot of options for Seward including hotels and Airbnb but we lucked out with this rental. It’s the perfect base for activities here. Greattub and shower, a nice view in the living room, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable bedrooms. Nice simple check in procedure. Really close walking distance to downtown. Check out the Seward brewery for dinner. Best burgers and pizza in town. Sea beans is great for coffee
It’s what’s on the inside that counts!
Don’t be fooled by the rundown exterior. Doug, the owner, has done an amazing job remodeling the interior with great attention to detail. The home is meticulously clean and supplied with every amenity! He has decorated with beautiful & unique antiques! The beds were very comfortable & the bathroom, amazing! The big living room windows provide a gorgeous view if you happen upon a clear day; unfortunately, we did not. The living room & diningroom could use better lighting for reading or playing games. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the overwhelming smell of moth balls and antiquity as you walk inside. If you can get used to that, which we did, then you have found a gem!!!
Kathi, Dan and family were the kind of guests I totally appreciate, responsible and neet!
The house is presently receiving a new paint job. So there is painters caulking and sanding at the entry. The front siding is cedar planks which will remain so until it gets a new design and new picture bay windows. It looks like the listing picture!
MOTH BALLS? I don't think so and the current guests agree. It smells clean other than what you cook or shower and bath with! After four years of vrbo and hundreds of guests no one else mentioned (the overwhelming smell of moth balls) not even a hint of moth balls! Maybe they confused this house from another they stayed at.
location of property is downtown, walk to restaurants, bars, shopping,' museums, library, churches and free shuttle to harbor and grocery stores
