About Cherie Scoffield

We inherited this 100 year old property and moved here in 2003. We are retired, and working locally. My husband is the Garfield County Tourism Representative around the world for our beautiful area. I work at the local elementary school We raised seven children and now have 19 grandchildren. We were born and raised in Utah but lived in several other states. My husband is a Navy Captain and is very patriotic. We love yard work, hiking, the canyon, and the close knit community we live in.

What makes this cottage unique

Our home is located under the escarpment of Bryce Canyon which is 12 miles away. The drive to and from is always an enjoyable one. The views from our home feature red rock formations and the white mountains as well as the small town country setting with sheep, cows, horses etc. It is a peaceful small town of only 150 residents, quiet, beautiful and a place of healing from the noise and crowds of city life.

Notes:
Individual tours available upon request. My husband is a tour guide for the Bryce Canyon area as well as the hikes. We recommend a day hike at Willis Creek, off Scutumpa Road. The hike is for all ages. Other hikes for families in this area can be found at Kodachrome State Park and Mossy Cave. We have a Wild Life Museum about 1 mile before reaching Bryce Canyon and several trail ride businesses for ATV's or horses for added adventure. A nice place to eat is at the Pines about 2 miles before Bryce for homemade soups and pie. The Pizza Place in Tropic is also a great place for family dinners. The Market there is the go to place for any supplies you need and they just opened a Rustlers Restaurant next door. In Cannonville, at the Grand Staircase Inn they have a an "IDK" (honey, "I Don't Know" when ask where they want to eat) eating kiosk which is rated highly for the scrumptious meat they prepare for sandwiches and other meals. Hiking the red rocks in town are also great fun.

Great location with room for a family

  • 5 of 5

As tiny as this place was it had everything we needed. It was great to have a yard for the kids to play in and to go outside and look up at the stars. We comfortably fit a family of five and could've had three more people with us.

Comfortable & Clean

  • 5 of 5

Loved the decor, cleanliness and well thought out amenities. Beds were comfortable, loved the country decor. Easy to get to and close to Bryce Canyon and area attractions. Definitely would stay there again if in the area. My teen kids loved the loft area too.

Very clean, great location, plenty of room.

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place to stay for Bryce Canyon National Park, it is a quiet location very well maintained, clean, plenty of room, everything you need is available for a stay. There was fresh baked cookies waiting for us when we arrived and they were excellent. Could not figure out how to work the AC but it was not needed during our stay with the low humidity the nights can get chilly. I would highly recommend staying at this location. Tom

We loved the bunkhouse!

Cherie is a delightful host and provides an excellent option for lodging in the Bryce Canyon area. Spotless and well-appointed (beds/linens are top of the line) Added bonus: history lesson based on her family ties to this amazing area. And the cookies!
