Guest Feedback: The villa is outstanding - what an incredible job you have done, such a beautiful spot. We loved Bigova - such a gorgeous bay and quite untouched by tourists, both the restaurants were very good. Montenegro is a gorgeous country and a great size for exploring, we would definately go back and will be recommending Vila Nada to all our friends and family. June 07. J Eagles-Scotland.

The villa is spectacular and easily accomodated our party (8 adults). The utensils and provisions made for easy stay for those days we decided to stay in, do our own cooking and enjoy the villa & pool. As landlords we must say that you were excellent, our group has rented superb properties in various parts of Europe over the last several years and you were the best to deal with. In short we would highly recommend Vila Nada as a vacation rental and Debbie & Gerran as reliable and conscientous property renters. July 07. D Peterson-Canada

More Guest Feedback: A fantastic location for a scorching fortnight (upto 40oC). July 07. E Dunwell, UK

Vila Nada is beautiful and in a fantastic location, view is just spectacular, we've had a lovely 2 weeks. August 07. A Dorning-UK

We have had a wonderful week. The villa lives upto its description and we have all been very confortable. The kids really enjoyed the pool and our favorite restaurant in Montenegro was Grispolis in Bigova. We had a fantastic boat trip with a little boat and driver all to ourselves for the day and went all the way up the fiord to Persast - stopping frequently for swimming & snorkelling, Aug 07. About Debbie Medlin

In 2006 I did something really mad and purchased a part built (shell) intended to be 6 small apartments in a relatively unknown country. With determination, hard work and a great team, 1 year later my dream was realised when Vila Nada was complete. I am a single mum of 2 boys (9 & 11) who have been lucky enough to enjoy Montenegro since they were 2 & 4 - in the early days the shell of the swimming pool acted as a great play pen when I had to be onsite! I work from home managing the rental of holiday homes for busy owners - it's a great job that evolved from my experience with Vila Nada.

Debbie Medlin purchased this villa in 2006

Why Debbie Medlin chose Bigova

I chose the location of Bigova for it's fantastic views, beautiful sunsets and long hours of sunlight. It is also a favourite of many Montenegrins and as soon as I visited in 2005 I could see why. My problem was that availability of villas in this brilliant location was next to none - then along came to opportunity to purchase a brick shell intended be 6 small apartments - not exactly what I had planned but luckily I had enough imagination to visualise the finished product and enough bottle to take the risk. So there I was.........with a reasonably blank canvas to create my own Villa - I drew the plans, designed the interior and exterior (including the rather unusual swimming pool) ,sourced and purchased all the furniture, fixtures, fittings and accessories and oversaw the whole project. Vila Nada really is my home from home - my boys and I love the magic it holds.

What makes this villa unique

Vila Nada is unique quite simply because it is my very own creation. The views are out of this world and there is a magical, tranquil feeling about the place. It is light, airy and open and designed to be very sociable both on the inside and outside. The swimming pool is one of a kind with a top shallow pool - ideal for younger children........and as I discovered for sunbathing on a plastic lounger with the water lapping round your sides!! Whilst the bottom pool is deeper and perfect for a refreshing plunge or swim.

Vila Nada is situated in the beautiful bay of Bigova, a small fishing village some 20/30 minutes drive from Kotor old town and 20/25 minutes from Tivat, the villa faces out over the bay in a south-westerly direction – giving you all day sun and a beautiful sunset into the sea each evening.

Bigova is fast becoming one of the most sought after destinations in Montenegro for its quaint un-spoilt characteristics. The village has its own very small pebble beach, shops and a number of restaurants & cafes. Plavi Horizonte (Blue Horizons), a beautiful sandy beach with restaurants & facilities which has been awarded the prestigious 'Blue Flag award' is only a 20/30 minute drive away.

Dubrovnik Airport is approx 1.5 hours drive and is currently the most accessible airport. There are a limited number of flights into Tivat Airport which is approx 20 minutes drive.

Notes:
This villa has undergone complete refurbishment inside and outside to include brand new kitchens, bathrooms and a new double infinity edged pool with gated access. This was completed in May 2007. Please note: As with many villages in Montenegro the roads in Bigova are narrow and unmade in places, there is a narrow access point at the entrance of the village measuring 2.4m wide. Vila Nada is in an elevated position (hence the superb views) and is accessed via an unmade road with one steep incline. We have accessed the villa in vehicles ranging from a small saloon car to a long wheel based transit. For car hire from Dubrovnik Airport we have negotiated special rates with peugeot-rentacar, ask us for details. When enquiring mention that you will be staying at Vila Nada in Bigova, Montenegro.

Villa Nada

  • 5 of 5

We had a fab holiday at the villa, which is beautifully decorated with all mod cons! We were 3 families each with 2 children and the villa was certainly big enough for us all to have plenty of space. It is extremely well equipped with everything necessary in the kitchen as well. Everything is clean and new! We BBQed on several evenings and watched the sun go down over the bay. The views are spectacular. The village is a short walk down the hill and the 2 restaurants there were lovely. The children were able to play on the waterfront whilst we had a leisurely meal. The water in Bigova Bay is delightful - beautifully clear and a lovely temperature. We all swam across the bay to the other side. We took a trip on a 40 ft ketch around Kotor Bay which is a must if you really want to see the spectacular coastline (details at the villa). Debbie was always on the end of the phone to answer any queries we had initially. We will definitely return!

Owner's Response: Reading this review just brings back such wonderful images of my villa - it's a great place for families with children and all adult parties too. I have enjoyed some very special times with my family and am delighted to be able to share it with others. Vila Nada is very personal to me and was the realisation of my dream - I was involved in its evolution right from designing the building layout to hand selecting the furnishings and went to great lengths to ensure it catered for every possible need , so I feel immensely proud to receive such a great review. Coming from a customer service background It is extremely important to me that people staying at the villa have a great holiday and as such have always ensured they are able to contact me at all times, I have established a great network of people in the country and am able to suggest places to go and things to do & see which enable people to gain the most from their holiday. Montenegro is a fantastic county with raw natural beauty, I loved it from the very first moment I ever set foot on it and get very enthusiastic about sharing it with potential clients.

Fantastic villa

  • 5 of 5

We recently returned from a most wonderful holiday at Vila Nada. Montenegro is the most amazing Country and Debbie (the owner) has certainly picked one of the best locations, with incredible views.

The villa is spacious and very well equipped with all the mod cons, we spent some great evenings on one of the terraces having BBQ's and drinking wine whilst watching the spectacular sunsets - just perfect. Nothing was too much trouble for the owner or her agents, we were given lots of help and advice which made planning our holiday easy. On arrival we were welcomed by the agents and shown how everything worked. There were fresh flowers, a complimentary bottle of wine and we were even given 2 local mobile phones for our use - outstanding service!

Bigova is a beautiful fishing village and within easy reach of Tivat, Kotor and Budva - a car is a must if you want to explore this beautiful Country, although we did use taxis (agents gave advice on who to use) and water boats from Bigova Harbour a couple of times.

This is on our 'must do again' list, there is something for everyone, definitely one of our best ever holidays.

Pretty location with great pool area but stay spoilt by owners response to drainage issue

  • 2 of 5

Villa is in a pretty location but would recommend car or make sure you have taxi handy to travel outside of small resort. Bigova village pretty and visited both restaurants and has a small shop for essentials- not suitable for those less fit or with disabilities as very steep hill back to villa. Pool area great as plenty of room to sit/sunbathe with great views, pool two tiered levels with shallow on top which is great for toddlers or just sunbathing in! Villa on 3 levels - 3 bedrooms on top floor well appointed 2nd floor main living area, bottom floor has 4th bedroom with small kitchenette seating area not as well appointed . Bit of an issue if like us you are two families of two adults and two children; the second couple can end up with the 'short straw' if use the ground floor bedroom. In addition if using ground floor bedroom, we ended up sleeping on sofa in lounge by 5th day due to sewage smell from drainage plug in floor of ensuite. Apparently this was due to the drain being connected to septic tank- this was obviously something that had happened in the past as very helpful agent immediately suggested topping up drain with cold water to 'seal' but limited effect. Just before end of holiday got drain blockage - this was our fault as some make up remover wipes were put in upstairs toilet and there were clear signs on all bathrooms, just didn't make sure teenager daughter clear on that! However response to this disappointing- owner claimed damages caused way over security deposit paid despite fact we mopped up flooding immediately. Costs of plumber seemed excessive for callout fee quoted to clear blockage (especially in montenegro - we have a friend there who's a doctor who doesn't earn the amount in a week! - we are a second generation English/Serbian family and know the cost of living well and have holidayed in Serbia Bosnia and Montenegro for years. some damages such as friction damage to plasterwork and doorframe caused by plumber! Also we pointed out to owner that other bathroom doorframes had similar water damage in past but were not replaced - this and damage caused by plumber was not responded to by owner. Overall, if you want a 3 bedroom property with 3 nice bedrooms and you can be super vigilant that your guests are only putting toilet paper in toilets so that you don't lose deposit then you may want to consider staying.

Owner's Response: Thankyou for the feedback, I"m glad that despite the flooding your daughter caused you had a lovely holiday, reflected by this comment you left in the guest book at the villa: “13.8–23.8 2016 2 English families. Lovely weather, lovely views. The villa is great & we had a great bbq one evening. The ladies at the local shop are lovely. We ate out several times in the restaurants. We visited a water park in Budva (well worth a visit) & went to Kotor twice. The climate is brilliant, a breeze allows you to stay out all day. The shallow pool’s the way forward, all were able to read books & remain cool at all times. Love Vranac–Excellent wine” Feedback from my agents on your arrival: “Guests arrived, they have no car, we showed them the local shop, restaurants & a boat that offers trips. They asked about removing their garbage, we offered to come by car & remove it for them. They look very happy” Day 9- you called my agents at 7pm as the first floor was flooded, they arrived promptly to find water all over the middle floor coming up through the shower, they tried to clear the blockage but had to call a plumber. It took 4 hrs to clean up & clear the blockage, caused by face wipes. The toilet needed removing & the pumping of drain rods forced ‘dirty water’ into the house causing a horrid smell & ‘tide’ marks on the walls. You told my agent none of you would have put wipes in the toilet as you had been to Montenegro before & understood the drainage system. It is commendable of your daughter to own up & I admire her honesty. I had no guests after you but had to ‘block out’ my calendar for the rest of the season. In emails between us I gave a breakdown of costs, sent photos of the damage & offered to refund anything left after costs, unfortunately I couldn’t as they were almost twice the deposit you paid, at this stage (weeks after your return) you posted your review. Re other points: I’m honest with potential clients & would rather say if my villa is not suitable for any reason than have unhappy guests. There’s 4 good sized bedrooms. Floorplans are in the photos on this website for guests to see if the layout is suitable before booking. Many parties larger than 8 enjoy the space–check out the reviews, in particular - Hanna S, 29th June 16 (14 people) Reviews show many people enjoyed wonderful holidays since 2007 with 100+ parties staying & this is the first time I have ever withheld a deposit Future guests are assured all repairs will be completed by 2018

Nice house in a lovely location

  • 4 of 5

We were 2 families with teenage kids and we enjoyed staying in this house. The living space by the pool is set up like a separate apartment which worked well for us because we had 2 teenage boys who loved having their own man pad with beer fridge but families with young kids may find this a problem because 1 of the 4 bedrooms in this house can only be accessed by the double door by the pool area so it's separated from the main part of the house. The other 3 bedrooms are all on the top floor of the villa and all very nice. The kitchen is large and the lounge is also spacious. We loved sitting on the top floor balcony in the early evening watching the sun set over the mountains. Bigova village has 2 nice restaurants and a well stocked small shop and there's a huge supermarket 15 minutes drive away. When we visited in August 2017 there were 2 boats offering taxi rides/day trips from the quay side in Bigova. Bigova is a lovely relaxing place to be and we really enjoyed the village and the house.

Wonderful Holiday

  • 4 of 5

Its is a wonderful well equipped villa with amazing views within in easy walking distance of the harbour.

The children spent many a happy hour playing in the lovely pool as did the adults! It would have been nice to have a little more shade by the pool.

Bigova is a lovely little harbour village with one well stocked shop and two restaurants. We spent most nights in Pod Volat where we enjoyed some amazing food and the hospitality of the staff and owner was first class.

Thank you to Debbie for all your help with the booking and the recommendation for the sailing trip we did which was fantastic.

Very nice summer house in a quiet village

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time in Montenegro and we can certainly say that we had a great time at Villa Nada. Bigova is a a beautiful small town, perfectly located to explore both the Kotor bay and the Adriatic coast. Debbie did great in finding such a nice spot. The view from the terraces is breathtaking and the house is very comfortable and spacious and can easily accomodate 2/3 families sharing the place. Debbie was very kind and promptly responded to all our requests. Edward the local agent managing the property was also extremely helpful during all our staying

Overall I highly recommend this property if you decide to spend your holidays in Montenegro
