About Mary Godddard

My husband, Laurel and I live on a working ranch. Goddard Ranch was homesteader by Laurels grandparents in 1878. The family has been here for over a hundred years raising cattle, farming and selling farm equipment. John Goddard is the fourth generation owner do Goddard Ranch and Equipment.

I love the ranch life and wanted to have a guest house. In 1998 we moved an old house to the ranch and renovated it. What a job!! We later added a bathroom and extended the family room. Then in 2002 my husband bought a house at a farm sale which we moved onto land east of the ranch house. Hence the "east Cabin. So now we have two guest houses that we offer for people who want to experience rural country living.

Mary Godddard purchased this house in 2002

Why Mary Godddard chose Lenora

The East Cabin is surrounded by trees with a creek running south of the house. The area is home to deer, turkey, pheasant, raccoons, rabbits, coyotes and other wildlife you will enjoy seeing. It is an excellent place for family reunions, family vacations, hunting, retreats, or any other reason to get out of the city and enjoy the serenity of nature.

The main level of the cabin has two bedrooms with twin beds in each. Dinning area and living room. There is a full kitchen that includes refrigerator, gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, and all dishes and cookware. There are two bathrooms on the main floor, one which is handicapped accessible. The main floor also has a LazyBoy chair that pulls out to a twin bed.

The lower level has sliding glass doors that go out onto a patio with a view of the trees the surround the cabin. There is a family room with two sofa sleepers in the lower level, one queen size and one regular size, also a pool table and TV. The lower level also has a bathroom combined with laundry facilities.

The attic room has living space and a balcony with a wonderful view of trees and prairie land.

Notes:
The East Cabin is located in a very scenic setting. Plenty of adventure watching the wildlife and being under a beautiful sky and a panorama of stars at night! Our guests are totally free to do as they please. Yes, you can pick the flowers! There are many activities in our area. The Graham County Fair and Jayhawker Redo is the last week of July. The Jayhawker Redeo is one of the best redeos in the country, with many rodeo champions attending. This area is loaded with history. There are oopprotunities to find fossels on our land and Castle Rock, near Oakley, Kansas, is a great place to find shark teeth. We have great cafes and restaurants that serve HOMEMADE food and the Hill City swimming pool is free to all. From September to January is hunting season. Big game, upland, turkey and dove hunting are all very popular. There are also two lakes for fishing very close Our area is very much a rural hometown communtiy where the people are very friendly but won't invade your priviacy

Great cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This property was perfect for our hunting trip. It was fully furnished with everything we needed and more. We were able to access near bye hunting land and Mary offered us some valuable information about where to go and some tasty cinnamon rolls. The pool able offered some great after dinner activity.

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this cabin this past weekend with another couple and had an absolutely wonderful time. The cabin is so clean, adorably decorated, and very welcoming. And meeting the owner, Mary, was a treat (not to mention the delicious cinnamon rolls!). The cabin was stocked with everything we needed and we felt right at home. And while it was unbearably hot while we were there, we were still able to enjoy a bit of the outdoors by finding a shady spot for the picnic table. We also witnessed a couple of great plains thunderstorms and a herd of does and fawns visited us right in the back yard. We had a wonderful time
