Why Amy Barnsley chose Fairbanks
We love where we live and are happy to share this property and our knowledge of the area. Fairbanks is an amazing place. Staying at the Fairbanks Aurora Haus will make your visit so comfortable. The location is great, just a five minute drive to the university and restaurants but away from the busy streets of town. The washer and dryer and fully stocked kitchen are just what many travelers need.
What makes this House unique
The views of the aurora in the winter are outstanding. The Aurora Haus house is located next to an open field that provides an unobstructed views when the northern lights are out. Our lovely little guest house is perfect for small families who want more room than a hotel, like to have a full kitchen and laundry available.

Beautiful house! Amazing Northern Lights views from the house and huge backyard!
The house was well stocked and very comfortable. But most importantly it's location, big glass windows and backyard with almost 360 degree of clear sky views were amazing. The location of the house is really good - close to the city, but away from any light pollution. We got to see northern lights right from inside the home. However, the northern lights we got to see from the backyard were much better than the northern lights tour we booked.
Would love to come back and stay here again.
Great time at Aroura House
This is a beautiful place. We loved it. Everything we needed. Quiet, perfect for viewing the Aroura. Out of 3 nights we saw it one night. That was great. We would stay here again. Thank you for your hospitality, Amy!
We loved staying out of town and even saw the Aurora!
House had everything you needed and was private and very comfortable. We were happy to come back to our little haven in the evenings. We hope to come back!!!
Perfect location !
Great location ! Relaxing environment in what feels like the country, yet close to downtown. Had moose in the area, which was quite enjoyable.
Be sure to visit the Fairbanks Farmer's Market for some grilling on the back patio !
Accommodations were just as advertised. Beautiful property and views, convenient location, quiet and spacious. Would definitely return and not hesitate to recommend to others.
Perfect Property - Loved It!
My husband and I absolutely loved this property. We stayed for 3 nights. There is loads of space, the kitchen area large, the sitting area perfect, and the bedroom just right. We could not have asked for anything more. The location is very good for exploring the Greater Fairbanks area such as the historic downtown, Creamer's Field, and nearby towns like Fox and Ester. There is a grocery store to pick up breakfast and lunch picnic items. One evening we grilled chicken on the gas grill provided on the back deck. Sitting outside in the evening was very relaxing. Although there is constant daylight, the shade is good. The view of the large pasture like yard was excellent, even though no wild life emerged from the trees. We discovered upon arrival that there is a grass landing area for small airplanes next to the property. One airplane took off just as we arrived. We saw no others during the rest of our visit. It would get a little warm inside the house but the window shades worked well. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable as well as bathroom. The property is located in a residential area a short drive to the University. We took a walk around the grounds and found our way on one of the side streets. We felt safe the entire time. Thank you for contributing to a memorable Alaskan vacation.
The Fairbanks Aurora Haus is located very close to the city of Fairbanks, but away from the city lights. The home is adjacent to an open field with amazing views of the aurora during the winter months. It is just 2.6 miles from the University of Alaska Fairbanks which has an renowned museum and Botanical Gardens. The university's Large Animal Research Station gives daily tours and is less then one mile away. Alyeska Pipeline viewing, Gold Dredge #8 and other sites are all nearby.
