About the property

2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Tranquil Field And Wood Views From This 2nd Floor Getaway

We look forward to welcoming you to the Coach House on Dutch Neck, with warm, natural colors and woodwork that evoke feelings of a cabin in the woods. In fact, the Coach House is located right next to the Peter's Pond Preserve, part of the Medomak Valley Land Trust, with direct access to the hiking trails and a beautiful 10 acre pond. Dutch Neck Road has its own public boat launch as well as the Osborn Finch Wildlife Sanctuary.

When you arrive, you will walk up the stairs into the spacious kitchen/living room. The open floor plan with windows all around and ceiling fans everywhere will ensure your comfort in the summer, while a gas stove will easily complement the baseboard heating in other seasons. Caribbean Heart Pine floors warm the kitchen, living room, bathroom and hallway, while cozy wall to wall carpeting will cushion your feet in the bedrooms. Each space has it's own thermostat so everyone will be comfortable.

Down the hall you will find the two bedrooms, each with queen beds, ceiling fans, big windows and plenty of drawer space. The bathroom has a beautifully stone tiled and glass enclosed shower, a large vanity, Kohler fixtures, and a full size LG washer and dryer. Towels and linens are provided.

When you don't feel like eating out, you will enjoy cooking in the large kitchen with plenty of granite counter space, full size range/oven, and microwave. The table has plenty of room to seat six people. The kitchen is equipped with all the dishes, utensils, glasses and mugs you will need, along with basic cooking necessities, and a Keurig coffee maker will make your mornings easier.

Just outside your door you will find a lovely patio with a Weber gas grill, table and chairs for 4 for your outdoor dining pleasure, and a cozy gliding love seat so you can fully enjoy the peace and quiet on Dutch Neck.

Waldoboro features some local favorites such as the Narrows Tavern, Borealis Bakery, and Moody's Diner. Within 20-40 minutes you can find wonderful lobster wharfs, and the quintessential small Maine coastal towns, Damariscotta, Rockland, Rockport, Boothbay Harbor and Camden.

We also have put together a binder of information for you on the local area - all the inside info on things to do and places to eat. And of course we are available to answer any questions that will help to make your Midcoast Maine vacation the most fun and memorable!

About Keith and Karen Langendorfer

Keith and I (Karen) bought our home here in Waldoboro in 2012, a beautiful 1810 Cape on 30 acres of land on the beautiful Medomak River. Keith is originally from Long Island, while Karen grew up in New Jersey. A frequent vacation destination for us, Maine was a natural place to move so that we could enjoy the beauty we fell in love with, year round.

Why Keith and Karen Langendorfer chose MidCoast and Penobscot Bay

Mid-Coast Maine has a wonderful mix of restaurants, shopping, culture and natural beauty. Our property has that natural beauty in abundance, with views down a gently sloping hill to the Medomak River, open fields, and beautiful woods.

What makes this house unique

We built the Coach House in 2015 on the foundation of an old barn, across the street from our house. It provides a cozy comfortable place where friends, family, and guests can stay - a wonderful "home base" for exploring the beauty and uniqueness of Mid-Coast Maine.

Quiet, clean, thoughtfully furnished and supplied - relaxing and lovely!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 nights at this lovely vacation property. The location is ideal for day trips to several of Maine's most charming coastal villages - including Camden, Rockport, Boothbay, Wiscasset, and more. You'll do a bit of driving, but it's worth it. This is a great vacation property if you enjoy peace and quiet; convenient access to green space, a walking trail and a lovely lake; and, the opportunity to relax in clean, well-furnished, and well-supplied accommodations. The owners have made extra effort to ensure your trip is convenient and easy - they even supply guide books, maps, and magazines with tips and suggestions for things to do and places to eat. We had some great meals and experiences that we wouldn't have, otherwise. Definitely, recommend this spot!

Karen and Keith thought of everything.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. Karen and Keith set everything up as if they were going to stay their themselves. They even put some frozen blueberries in the freezer for us. Thank you. I know if we come your way again, we will be staying at your place.

Coastal bliss

  • 5 of 5

Another great stay at the Coach House! Highlights this trip were lobster at Muscongus in Round Pond, local oysters at Newcastle Publick House, and Round Top ice cream in Damariscotta. Karen and Keith are wonderful hosts!

Great location; high quality accommodations...

  • 5 of 5

and the hosts were wonderful, treating us like valued guests. WE COULD HARDLY HAVE WISHED FOR MORE. One warning - this marvelous place is above a garage. If you have difficulty with stairs, you might think twice. However, the Langendorfers were quick to offer their help if we needed it. They were most considerate and kind.

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

The Coach House couldn't have been more perfect for us and our 145lb "gentle giant" English Mastiff 9 month old pup Chewbacca. Karen and Keith have thought of everything and are also readily available in the event that there is something you need. Waldoboro and Dutch Neck road are great locations for strolling with your pup(s) and (in typical Maine fashion) most everyone will wave as they pass you by. There are so many dog friendly spots to go (visit bringfido.com for reviews and tips). Not to be missed....the hike behind the house down to Pete's Pond (wear bug spray!); South End dog park in West Bath and meeting Karen & Keith's two beautiful golden retrievers Maddie and Cody. Thanks for an amazing vacation....we'll be back!

Ideal Get-Away Location

  • 5 of 5

This is an amazingly well-appointed vacation retreat with high-end fixtures and furnishings. I kept thinking the owners must have built this for themselves as I'm used to vacation retreats being furnished with yard sale hand me downs rather than Ethan Allen. Another surprise was the large dog crate in the closet at the top of the stairs along with dog bowls and dog towels. It's Maine so you generally don't need air-conditioning but being on the second floor, the ceiling fans in each room were much appreciated. Mid-Coast Maine is one of our favorite get-aways and we loved exploring Pemaquid Point and taking the Appledore Schooner out of Camden harbor while our daughters took a guided kayak tour of the harbor. When it rained, they had a nice collection of games as well as wi-fi for Netflix streaming. Hannaford's 5 minutes away so ready access to groceries or many fine restraurants.
