Overview

About the property

Campo Fiori Ghetto panoramic terrace, fountain view, 3 Br 2ba in Historic palace

The "Turtle Fountain apartment" is a most elegant and panoramic apartment with terrace enabling the view of most Rome's sights and domes.

The property is composed by the apartment, elegant, inviting and perfectly equipped, situated at the first European floor (second US floor, with elevator). The apartment faces the famous fountain Turtle Fountain, which can be seen from the windows (thus the name "Turtle Fountain apartment"). The fountain, ended built in 1588, is one of Rome's finest, and there are four copies of it only in the USA. You will have the impression of nearly touching it from your windows, where it makes the backdrop view, just as if it were a painting. In summer, if you will leave the windows open, it will be your lullaby at night.

The apartment, as mentioned, is also endowed with the "Turtles Nest", i.e. a panoramic terrace / roof garden, with view of most Rome's sights and domes, and also with an additional, small but perfectly functional kitchen, so you don't have to go back to the apartment kitchen to prepare food and drinks.

The apartment is within Palazzo Costaguti, one of Rome's finest and most renowned historical, aristocratic palace, owned by the same family since 1578. The owners took great care to prepare this finest apartment with utmost care and attention to detail.

The apartment comprises:

- 3 double bedrooms (two matrimonial and one twin bedded) and 2 bathrooms;

- 1 spacious and comfortable sitting room-dining room;

- 1 full-fledged kitchen (with own door), with very complete equipment;

- as mentioned, the "Turtles Nest", i.e. the panoramic terrace / roof garden with additional kitchen.

The property is perfectly furnished and equipped: AC, all mod cons, internet Wi-Fi, landline phone, washing machine, dishwasher, HD TV with satellite dish and English speaking channels in the sitting room (digital aerial TV sets with local channels in the bedrooms), Hi-Fi stereo that you can combine with your Bluetooth devices, hair dryers, iron, iron board.

The property was just entirely renovated and furnished. It is silent, with double glazing, and elegantly decorated.

Write to us, and we will send you 40 more photos and videos of the property, and also of its location! We look forward to hearing from you!

About Owner/Manager

[Photo of the owner, the Marquis Dr. Costaguti]. MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER:

Like all my brothers and relatives, we belong to a famous Roman noble family, the Costaguti - Afan De Rivera, who moved to Rome in 1578 from Northern Italy to become treasurers of the Catholic Popes. We have become since then part of Rome's history, and generation after generation, though we now make our living by means of different professions, we all still have great attention to maintain our family reputation, also regarding hospitality. We sincerely hope that you will be pleased with our property, and that it will allow you to experience Rome's history and its charms as no other apartment would.

Owner/Manager purchased this apartment in 1578

Why Owner/Manager chose Centro Storico

If you come to Rome attracted by its wealth of sights, this property is ideal: in fact it is perfectly located in the heart of the historical centre, between the famous locations of Campo de' Fiori , the Jewish quarter, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon and the Roman Forum. All Rome's sights truly are at a stone's throw. The palace faces the world-acclaimed Turtle Fountain, which can be seen from its windows.

What makes this apartment unique

(1) You will be perfectly in the heart of Rome, exactly in its middle, between the famous quarters Campo de' Fiori, Jewish Ghetto, Piazza Navona, Pantheon and Roman Forum.

All the sights will be around you, or you can reach them easily on foot.

(2) The panoramic terrace / roof garden enables you to have views of Rome's sights and domes, while having a meal "al fresco" in the table and chairs under the gazebo, or in the sitting area, or enjoying a BBQ.

(3) Uniquely, the terrace has an additional, separate kitchen, enabling you to cook, prepare your meals and drinks without having to go back and forth to the apartment kitchen, saving time and strain.

(4) The apartment is most elegant, and situated in one of Rome's most famous and central historical and aristocratic palaces: Palazzo Costaguti, where my family lives since 1578 (!).

(5) From your windows you will be able to see, and to nearly touch, the world-acclaimed Turtle Fountain, considered by many Rome's most charming.

(6) Due to our family's care for hospitality and to prepare fine properties, the apartment was entirely renovated and furnished this year 2015. You will find it impeccable, and with all modern comforts / appliances.

(7) Because hospitality is important to us, your stay is important to us. We strive to make your stay as comfortable and meaningful as possible. We ask you to reciprocate by having the same attention for our property.

We look forward to hosting you - Arrivederci!

It is endowed with a spectacular terrace with views of Rome's domes and views, also including table and 6 chairs, a sitting area to watch the views, and finally an incredible "sky" kitchen to cook in the very terrace (in addition to the one of the apartment), complete also with BBQ. It is an unobtainable property, loved by all our guests!

Lovely apartment in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

Clara met us to let us in to this wonderful apartment. It is beautiful, the beds were comfy and the space was appreciated. The bathrooms are updated and very stylish (as is the whole apartment).

The location can't be beat. Easy walk to Campo Fiori (10 minutes), Pantheon (25 minutes), the Coliseum (10 minutes), the Vatican (35 minutes). Restaurants in every direction (try Cybo near Campo Fiori).

The only disappointment was the terrace (one of the main reasons we chose this unit). It was lovely and the pictures are correct, but it is 5 or 6 floors up from the unit. There is a lift, but we expected it to be more easily accessed from the unit. You don't just step back into the unit to grab a forgotten item. Unfortunately, we ended up not using it at all.

We would recommend this place highly, and would choose it again.

Thank you Clara and Dr. Morris.

Owner's Response: Dear Doug, it was a pleasure hosting you, and thanks for taking the time to write the review. In the property presentation we mention clearly that in addition to fine views from the windows onto the beautiful Turtle Fountain, there is access to the panoramic terrace by means of an elevator, which is only 1 meter distant from the apartment door. The terrace is only 4 floors up (it takes a few seconds to get there), and it enables guests to enjoy spectacular views of Rome's sights and domes. The terrace is also endowed with table and chairs to dine out, an ample sitting area, BBQ, and - uniquely - also with an own kitchen, in addition to that of the apartment, very well equipped. Actually, things should be seen differently. In old Rome's centre, not even the rich and famous have such an amazing panoramic terrace, especially in consideration that it is situated on the roof of one of Rome's most famous historical Renaissance palaces. Its use is a kind concession of the Costaguti family, so you should consider it as a great advantage, which very few Rome visitors experience. It is also very easily accessed at any time, by means of the elevator situated at an arm's distance from the apartment entry door. Many guests hang out in the terrace most of the time. We look forward to your promised return, and to sip with you a glass of fine wine in the terrace while enjoying Rome's views.

Quiet, clean and great location!

  • 5 of 5

Six adults were perfectly comfortable in this apartment. Fully equipped kitchen with groceries only a five minute walk away. Superb views from a rooftop covered terrace with elevator access and a nifty tiny kitchen area to prepare appetizers and open some nice Italian wine. Clara greeted us with a warm welcome and some lovely strawberries. Washing machine in kitchen. Dried clothes on the small balcony off twin room on a portable drying rack made us feel truly European. Two bedrooms have queen beds. Third has two twin beds. Two bathrooms, one with an updated shower was more coveted than the other. Nice large couch in living room. Good WiFi but needed to be reset a few times. Six phones and three additional devices challenged the system. We would most definitely return to this inviting apartment in Rome.

Beautiful apartment in a terrific location

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I took our three sons (23,20,15) and a girlfriend (22) to Rome for spring break week. We were most fortunate to spend it in this terrific apartment which was beautiful, comfortable and very-well located to everything we wanted to do. We were able to walk everywhere and enjoy terrific restaurants, pastry shops, and little stores for provisions. We owe much gratitude to Morris and Clara for making us feel so welcome. If you are considering a trip to Rome, I hope that you are able to book this wonderful home away from home.

As we strive to improve it all the time, you will find it improved in many little details. Arrivederci!

Thanksgiving Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The Turtle's Nest apartment was a wonderful treat for me and my family. The apartment itself was everything described and more. The bedrooms, bathrooms and common spaces are lovely and well appointed. There's something special (at least for us "young" Americans) in looking up and seeing 500 year old beams in the ceiling -- knowing that the building you are staying in was built in the time of Michelangelo! Though the Palazzo itself was build 500+ years ago, the apartment was fully updated with all of the conveniences of modern life; the best of the old world and the new! The Palazzo Costaguti was in a perfect location in Rome. The Jewish Ghetto and all of its wonderful restaurants was right around the corner; the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and Campo de' Fiori are all a short walk. I can't think of any of the Roman sites that we visited that weren't a pleasant walk away.

Morris (Dr. Abate) took care of all of the arrangements for the apartment with great helpfulness and efficiency. He arranged for drivers to meet us at the airport on arrival and a car service to bring us back. We were met at the apartment by Ms. Clara. She gave us a warm welcome, showed us around the apartment going over the various “mechanical” features and got us settled in. After the apartment proper, she brought us up to the roof deck. If only the weather had been more accommodating, it would have been a spectacular place to open a bottle of wine and watch the sun set over the rooftop of the city before starting our evening explorations of the city.

Would I recommend this apartment to someone else -- without question!

Thank you Morris and Clara for a wonderful vacation

Owner's Response: It was an honour hosting you and your family. You are kind and friendly persons and you made our duty easy and pleasant. So sorry about the weather: the sky was clear during many weeks before and even after your stay, as it is normal in Rome. All this makes us hope for your return!

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful apartment! Two couples and we couldn't have asked for more in a place to stay. The apartment is impecable and what a wonderful location. We walked to all the sites and always enjoyed coming back to our very comfortable accomadations to take a break from the record breaking heat! Plenty of great restaurants within easy walking distance. If you are a runner this apartment even offers great access to the trails located along the Tiber.

Morris and Clara were great to work with and we even got to meet with the owner when we arrived. Morris gave us a wonderful history lesson on the apartment and the area as well as providing us with a great pamphlet filled with helpful information for our stay.

We truly could not have asked for a better apartment or better folks to help make our trip to Rome such a wonderful experience! Thank you!!

Owner's Response: Dear Lonnie and friends, we were delighted to assist you, you have been perfect guests! You were also able to explore quite a bit of the location, where one has the embarrassment of richness, and you ended up giving us a precious tip on a restaurant! We look forward to your next visit. We always strive to improve the property, and now there is a new entry, the "Turtle Nest", i.e. the panoramic terrace with gazebo, table to dine "al fresco", sitting area, BBQ and an additional panoramic kitchen. Arrivederci from Morris, Clara and the owner!
