About this property

This is really my grandmother's house and has been recently renovated. Kitchen and bathrooms have been updated. The home is situated on 45 acres of woods, waterfalls and gorges. This is a Homeaway/vrbo exclusive. We only advertise on there web sites.The home is 5.5 miles from Ithaca and all its resources.
If you like Fishing, start out with the Cayuga Inlet, a stocked trout stream, about 100 yrds from your front door. along with several other local streams you can enjoy numerous locations on Cayuga lake, from Lansing to Ithaca. You can also bring your own boat or take a local fishing tour on Cayuga lake,or 45 minutes away is Seneca lake
For NASCAR Racing fans, Grandma's Country Home is only 45 minutes to Watkins Glen.
Do you like state parks ,we have some of the best in the state. Robert Treman is only five minutes away,or check out Taughannock Falls State park with its 215 foot waterfall.
Are you into museums. check out the Museum of the Earth or the Scientcenter right downtown. It would be a 45 minute trip but the Corning Museum of glass is very cool.

Enjoy the surrounding area full of activities, spend the day hiking in the backyard, enjoy trout fishing, or just come and relax. No pets.

great place to use as home

This is our second stay at Grandma’s house. Great location and the house and property has everything we need. Some traffic noise but not a problem because we like to get up for our local hiking adventures. The kids love the tire swing and basketball hoop Robert is a great host.

2024 Eclipse Getaway

The property was exactly as advertised and we were swayed by all the other 5 star reviews. The host, Robert, was communicative and gracious. Great location, a nice clean house, older with nice character and modern touches in all the right places, on a really nice piece of property. 10 minute drive, if that, to downtown Ithaca. Would definitely stay here again!

Grandma's house for a pleasant stay

The house was clean and beautiful inside. Instructions for the property were detailed and easy to follow. It was located in a great location to easily get to all the local waterfalls and the town of Ithaca for great dining and entertainment. The deck and sunroom were a special favorite for evening gatherings with the family. The property was beautiful and we enjoyed walks back to the creek in the woods. The only thing that takes away from this awesome property is all the traffic on the road out front. We would definitely come back to Grandma's house again.

Grandma’s house

Wonderful old house. Clean, kitchen equipped nicely, bedrooms comfy, not luxurious but really comfy. Enjoyable stay, close enough to Ithaca to make it easy to get to.

Comfy stay at Grandma’s house

Our family ages 2 to 80 had a nice extended weekend with plenty of space, big enough couch for all, nice bbq and big kitchen for birthday celebration. Beds were comfortable and plenty of towels for all. We even took a hike or two on the property with beautiful walnut trees. Host was helpful and accommodating. I would def stay here again. We wish we had made it to the creek.

My wife and I are basically small town country people. We love the outdoors but we also like to venture out and see different things. From parks to museum's to college town night life we enjoy it all. When we had this property handed down to us we had to decide whether to keep renting it out as a home or to try something new. We wanted to be able to share the joy we had as kids growing up in this area and maybe relive some of our own memories here.

Why they chose this property

This home has been in the family's possession for over 75 years. My father was born and raised here. It was the "over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's House we go." After years of neglect we decided we wanted others to enjoy the grandmothers house that we once did. We started almost a year ago on the mission to bring the memories back to life. With some 45 acres of woods and streams I don't even need to leave the premises to relax, but with so many other things to do around the area you could easily spend the whole summer here and never get bored.
