About Robert Argetsinger

My wife and I are basically small town country people. We love the outdoors but we also like to venture out and see different things. From parks to museum's to college town night life we enjoy it all. When we had this property handed down to us we had to decide whether to keep renting it out as a home or to try something new. We wanted to be able to share the joy we had as kids growing up in this area and maybe relive some of our own memories here.

Why Robert Argetsinger chose Newfield

This home has been in the family's possession for over 75 years. My father was born and raised here. It was the "over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's House we go." After years of neglect we decided we wanted others to enjoy the grandmothers house that we once did. We started almost a year ago on the mission to bring the memories back to life. With some 45 acres of woods and streams I don't even need to leave the premises to relax, but with so many other things to do around the area you could easily spend the whole summer here and never get bored.

Best stay ever!!!

  • 5 of 5

Grandma's house is highly recommended. I rated it 5 star for cleanliness, comfort, location and hospitality of the host. We were greeted by the owner and made us feel comfortable in Grandma's house. The house is very close to Cornell and of course to Wegman's. I will definitely stay here again.

Grandma’s was Grand!

  • 5 of 5

This property was an awesome location for my family of six to stay at for a graduation weekend. Robert was great to work with as well. The road noise is notable, but it didn’t prevent us from enjoying each other’s company on the deck. I booked this 18 months in advance, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Thanksgiving around the Hearth

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I, along with my brother and his wife, drove over from Maine and rented the house for a week to provide a gathering place over Thanksgiving with my nephew, his wife and three children (ages 6,4, and 2) who live near Ithaca, and her father who was visiting from California. The four of us were full-time residents while the others visited for meals, play time, and evenings by the fire. The kids loved the tire swing in the tree, the expansive fields, the sectional couch, and the magical fire in the fireplace. We never turned on the humongous TV, but employed the wi-fi connection constantly once we figured out which network we were supposed to join. The beds were comfortable, there was an ample supply of bedding and towels and we all enjoyed the shower in the downstairs bathroom. The kitchen was equipped with some nice heavy pots, full service of dishes and cutlery for 6-8, a generous supply of paper goods and an assorted sampling of staples such as coffee, tea, sugar, flour and spices. The property is very clean and well-maintained and Robert, our host, was solicitous and accommodating, bringing fire wood aplenty when we inquired about the fireplace (which drew perfectly in all weather). Although the location was a bit out of the way from Brooktondale where the kids live, it was very close to downtown Ithaca, grocery stores, restaurants etc. and also to two state parks. Outdoor lighting could be improved as we had a hard time identifying the driveway in the dark but that wouldn't be a problem in high summer. The little kids named it Holiday House and it served us well in that role.

I can't say enough about the beautiful house!

  • 5 of 5

Grandma's House was well suited for 4 adults, the living room is spacious with a large comfy sectional couch and a large TV to watch plenty of movies on Netflix. The kitchen is fully stocked and it even has two coffee makers, one of them being a Kurig Machine, all you need to bring is your own food. My husband enjoyed cooking on the outdoor gas grill and we even saw some deer while hanging out on the deck! The house was very clean and the beds were comfy too. We were only 20 minutes from Cornell which we visited our daughter there frequently and it is also close to the many waterfalls and wineries in the area. Thank you Robert for sharing your Grandma's House with us.

A charming house in a beautiful setting The hillside behind is so pretty in the sunshine. Everything inside seems almost brand new - I loved the cool drawers in the kitchen that finish closing by themselves! The size and layout was perfect for our family group and there are many accessible attractions that suited our interests. One of our group said that of all the places we've gone for our reunions, this was her favorite.
