Located on the hill in the north side of El Centro, across from historical landmark Cristo Rei park and church, this executive condominium offers breathtaking view of the city and the Andes mountain range from the large windows in every room. See the magnificent views change from dawn to dusk, and in the evening, thousands of warms lights glimmer from below and in the distance. The condo is fully furnished with modern, stylish furniture. It provides spacious living for 2 guests and can accommodate up to 4 guests comfortably. The large kitchen is equipped with stainless steel appliances and fully stocked with nice dinnerware and stemware. Rental includes utilities, cable, internet.
Some of the best features of the condominium:
***Filled with Natural Light***
With all the large glass windows, the unit is filled with natural light. The bedrooms have large glass windows which allow gentle morning sun to stream in. In the evening, warm city lights glimmer and twinkle in the dark. The windows offer a sweeping view of Cuenca and the mountains surrounding it. Once in a while, beautiful fireworks can be viewed from the comfort of our living room, office and kitchen. The four-story building is similarly filled with natural light, its common areas are fitted with glass windows from floor to ceiling. It is one of the most beautiful modern buildings in the city.
(In our past experience staying elsewhere in the historical center of the city, rental apartments or hotel rooms can be dark, cold and damp.)
***Fast Internet Access***
In this day and age, fast internet access is necessary, not only for internet calls, but also for streaming. The WiFi speed in our condo comes in between 18 to 20 Mbps in the living room, significantly faster than the old infrastructure allows in most parts of El Centro (where internet calls may be prone to dropping). For internet security reasons, we choose not to use signal repeaters in the condo. Music streaming, such as Spotify, can still easily be used in the bedrooms.
Not to be overlooked, at the end of the day after a long exploration, it would be nice to watch some channels in English. We upgraded our subscription to Gold package which includes about 40 channels in English, including CNN International, BBC, Bloomberg, Cinemax Movie Channel, E!, TLC, AMC, TNT, music channels, etc. In addition, there are more than 100 other channels in Spanish (an excellent way to learn the language) and other international languages, such as French, German, Portuguese, Chinese, etc.
A North American-sized washer and dryer pair is located inside our unit. A dishwasher, which is not very common in Cuenca, is available in our large kitchen. An elevator, which is even more rare in a four-story building, is a nice convenience after a major shopping excursion. The windows in our bedroom are outfitted with double pane glass to reduce noise. Furthermore, for those who prefer complete silence, we offer complimentary ear plugs. For those who come with a car, or would like to rent a car for a period during their stay, there is a secure dedicated garage space under the building.
***Modern Plumbing and Water Storage***
Our building is outfitted with modern plumbing. It is common throughout Ecuador, including the historical center of Ceunca, that guests of hotels and apartment rentals are directed to dispose of toilet paper in the garbage bins (rather than the toilets) to avoid overwhelming the plumbing systems that were built in older times. The contemporary construction in our building means that this is not a concern for our guests.
Also, sudden interruptions in water service are common throughout El Centro. Our building has a backup water system, so you will not be affected by such unannounced cutoffs.
***Close to Multiple Parks***
Nearby, the vast courtyard/ park of the historical church offers an excellent opportunity for stretches or morning exercises. 2-3 times per week, there is community-led Zumba dancercise for 1 hour in the early evening. About 5 minutes walk from the condo, the largest park in El Centro, called Parque Libertad, is nearing its completion. The park, and its massive belvedere (mirador) overlooking the city, have been finished, with the tower and community building nearly done. The city poured $25 million into this project.
(The view from our building’s common rooftop terrace is even more amazing.)
