About Jacqueline Sarsfield

I am a fun loving individual who loves travelling and meeting new people. My particular passion are the animals here at Rock Cottage and the beautiful unspoilt landscape. My interests are walking, photography & cooking. I love to go walking around this part of Ireland and exploring all the beautiful sites. My passion is to go to the local farmers' markets and cook with locally grown produce.

Jacqueline Sarsfield purchased this chalet in 2014

Why Jacqueline Sarsfield chose County Cork

I spent much of my childhood here in Ireland having been born in Dublin. I moved full time to Ireland in 2014 from London.

What makes this chalet unique

Having rented Rock Cottage for over a year, I decided to purchase this beautiful place and continue with this well established holiday accommodation business. The gardens, paddocks and surrounding hillsides are stunning, particularly the 360 degree view from the top of the garden overlooking Dunmanus Bay, The Sheeps Head and on the other side the hills and Mt Gabriel.

Perfect, peaceful, property in a beautiful location.

My wife and I stayed in the Rock Cottage chalet for a leg of our honeymoon across Ireland, and we couldn't have enjoyed our stay here any more. As others have stated, the setting is extremely tranquil and quiet, and you can even see the ocean from the hill atop the property! We so enjoyed exploring the area, including the nearby Mizen Head Peninsula and the lovely towns of Schull, Goleen, Crookhaven. We also took a ferry out to a nearby island for a day hike - all of these activities are minutes away. Best of all, Jackie and Jonathan were extremely kind, helpful, and accommodating hosts, and we would absolutely love to stay with them again in the future. We honestly can't say enough good things about our stay at Rock Cottage. Thank you again for everything, Jackie and Jonathan!

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

This nice little cottage is very well located and has got everything you need for amazing holidays.

There are beautiful paths around the area, with stunning views.

As well you'll find some great attractions, like the mizen head and the Barley Cove Beach.

Even on bad weather days you can perfectly relax or play with all the animals on the property.

We really miss the two adorable donkeys, Barnie and Bambie and the cats and dogs.

Jacqueline and Jonathan are very friendly and helpful.

We definitely want to visit them again.

Thank you very much for such a beautiful holiday.

Best regards

Perfect Place to Stay, ideal location

  • 5 of 5

Can't say enough positive things about the chalet and hosts. The setting was peaceful. The property is a tucked away and there is no car noise, which is exactly what we wanted coming from a city. The bed is VERY comfortable. The whole arrangement afforded us the best nights sleep my wife and I have had in ages. Kitchen has everything needed and is stocked with some essential items like cooking oil, salt, pepper, tea bags, etc. The hosts are wonderful and shared some farm fresh duck eggs. Not a far drive to explore the peninsula. Make sure you go to Three Castle Head and do the little hike up to the top overlooking the castle and water. Breathtaking. Anyhow, no regrets booking this property. This made our first trip to Ireland very memorable.

Peaceful Country Escape

  • 5 of 5

What can't I say about our stay in this sweet little cottage. My daughter just adored the little cottage, especially when she saw the Ms. Sarsfield had put a teddy bear in the bed for her and several books. She even had toys for my little girl to take to the beach. And she couldn't get enough of all the animals she got to see during our stay, especially the donkeys that always came to the gate to say hello.

I just didn't want to leave, it was everything I was looking for. The property was peaceful and quiet. I could enjoy a nice peaceful evening after a day of sight seeing. This little cottage was the perfect size for the two of us. We even enjoyed evening walks after dinner on the property. And the communities we visited were amazing, full of very helpful and friendly people.

Everyone I know that is planning a trip to Ireland I suggest to them Rock Cottages and visit the area we were in. I just can't say enough good things. We will be contact Rock Cottages for our second visit.
