Overview

About the property

4 Bedroom, Two Bathroom Log Home With Large Screened Gazebo On The Beach.

The Cottage is located just 20 minutes outside of picturesque Marquette. This is a unique property blending the original 1920's cottage with a beautiful new Hiawatha Log home addition. Lake Superior is just steps outside the back door and viewed from almost every room. There are 4 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms making it perfect for a few families or couples. A new 65" TV and sound bar over the wood burning fireplace make football Saturday's or late night movies a cozy spot. The kitchen is fully stocked so dining in is a pleasure whether cooking or grilling outside.

Adventurous days can include hiking Sugar Loaf mountain for panoramic views of Marquette County and Lake Superior, jumping off the cliffs at Black Rocks into crystal clear water, hiking into waterfalls or kayaking/tubing down the nearby Autrain river. Shoppers will love the quaint downtown. Make sure you visit Donker's, the best candy shop and soda fountain in Michigan, or the local brewery's and the Portside for a great lunch and libation. Otherwise stay close and spend the day relaxing on the beach, having a back yard BBQ, enjoying bug free sunsets in the gazebo or just reading a book on the platform directly looking over Lake Superior.

Our family actually rented this cottage many times and we believe that the best review is that we had so many fantastic times here that we bought it as soon as we heard it was for sale! In addition to the TV , there is a newly remodeled downstairs bathroom as well as all new Pottery Barn bedding and down pillows. New pictures will soon be up. The gazebo has also been newly furnished with a conversation area filled with comfortable rocking chairs and a table for dining or cards. Strung lights give this a great atmosphere in the evening. It makes wonderful sunset viewing a nightly pleasure even if the bugs are out! The Cottage has been a great vacation spot for our friends and family all season long and we look forward to sharing it with you.

minimum three night rental. July and August, weekly only, Saturday to Saturday

Beautiful house on a beautiful beach

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this place! Plenty of space for everyone to spread out. The kitchen has everything you could need for cooking and serving meals. The gazebo was a nice quiet space that even gets wi-fi. The beach is beautiful. You can walk at least a mile in either direction from the house. We felt like we had the entire lake to ourselves most days. We gave my in laws the master on the main floor and actually chose the loft for ourselves. One bed is at the top of the stairs and overlooks the living room but the other is almost around a corner so while there is no door, it is private and does not have the household traffic of the main floor. The house is easy to find. The owner was easy to reach and responded to questions before and during our trip. We would for sure stay here again. Thank you so much!

Fantastic place!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with friends and family during our wedding week and we couldn't of been more pleased with the place! The black flies were only bad two of the days and the outside gazebo gave us refuge. The beds were super comfy and the kitchen was well stocked with supplies. We highly recommend this place! The beach was beautiful 👍

Great vacation place!!

  • 5 of 5

We recently rented this awesome cottage and absolutely loved it! It is in a perfect location for seeing Pictured Rocks, Marquette, hiking, biking, swimming, and just relaxing. We had two families with kids and there was plenty of room. The beach is beautiful, nice and sandy for the kids to play all day. The owner has furnished the cottage well, plenty of beds and places to sit. The kitchen is very well stocked with kitchen accessories and utensils. I can't say enough good things about this VRBO, we are already looking forward to our next stay there!

Amazing house with everything you need for a wonderful stay + beach + lake views!

  • 5 of 5

Spent a week here with family and had a tremendous time. I do not believe that a better experience could have been achieved in this beautiful part of Michigan on Lake Superior. The home was extremely well equipped -- the kitchen had everything we needed plus some and there were lots of additional fans (which we used since we liked having the windows open) and a couple space heaters (although we didn't need them). There was lots of space for people to spread out while remaining really cozy and comfortable.

The lake access and gazebo were great as well for extending our living space out to the beautiful beach. The pictures don't do it justice ... the beach is nicer than many ocean beaches I've been to and the clean/clear water and sandy and not-rocky water entry made for excellent swimming conditions. The home location is perfectly suited for doing things in both Marquette or Munising and a trip to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore was easy.

A few notes ... two of the "bedrooms" aren't totally separate rooms, they are in the loft accessed by a stairwell and they share a bathroom. One sleeping area is open to the living area below (where the large TV is located) and persons in this bedroom cannot see into the other sleeping area upstairs although there is no physical door that separates these areas. This was not a problem for us but if someone was extremely light or sound sensitive, or has children this may be useful to keep in mind.

The wifi sometimes came in-and-out so I wouldn't want to be here if I needed immediate/constant internet access. This was actually a good thing for us as we were more easily able to disconnect even though we were impressed that they were able to provide internet in this remote location. Lastly, regarding cell phone service we are AT&T customers and there was little to no signal most of the time. Again, not a complaint but rather an FYI.

In summary - this home was a wonderful location to get away from it all and experience the Yooper life! We hope to stay here again in the future.

Great place and beautiful view of Lake Superior

  • 5 of 5

This was a really great house. Everything was as presented. It is a nice layout - a couple pretty private rooms, one bunk bed room - those beds were less comfortable for our adult sons but would be fine for smaller/ lighter folks. The master bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was very well supplied and everything worked! The gazebo was great.

We walked on the beach every day and didn't see one piece of garbage and only one person - once. The water is beautiful. The boat trip to Painted Rocks was great and our adult kids did a great 10 mile hike on a trail along the rocks. I'd definitely recommend this house.
