About Gail Bindi

This home is owned by the Bindi family from Michigan. We purchased this home because of the location, and the ability to house multiple family members across generations. We like to cook big family meals, take walks on the beach, sit on the front porch with a glass of wine or cup of coffee, and enjoy all the great things South Haven has to offer.

Gail Bindi purchased this house in 1997

Perfect for our group of eight

  • 5 of 5

A great house in a great location. My adult children, my parents and myself all had plenty of space. The house was very comfortable. While it’s a little dated and there are a couple of topical issues (leak somewhere in the kitchen, damp basement) it was more than made up by the great sitting areas, the location and the overall character of the place. I really appreciated the kitchen being fully stocked with cutlery and dishes.

I would definitely recommend. It’s a great value.

Girls Getaway

  • 4 of 5

The house totally served it purpose for our girls getaway. It made the getaway comfortable and totally affordable. We found most everything we needed with a well stocked kitchen. We cooked in four meals during our stay so it was really nice! The location was fantastic for a multiple walks to the beach - walks downtown to shop and explore, we loved it!!

Black mold on dining room ceiling

  • 2 of 5

Unfortunately we did discover black mold on the dining room ceiling from an apparent leak from the upstairs bathroom shower stall that had previously been plastered over. Mold abatement is an arduous task having had to go through it ourselves in our own home when a burst pipe went undetected. It requires the right company that specializes in removal of mold and is a major repair. I write this review because this is a nice home with good intentioned owners but who also appear to be managing on a minimal budget. There were multiple improvements still to make - a soiled couch, an old blistered deck ( no bare feet!), loose railings on the front porch, uncovered swtchplate in the garage with exposed although capped wiring next to back door.

Great location and great potential. Gail was responsive and changed her cleaning crew due to some of our minor cleaning complaints. She was sincere in her apologies to us. The real test is in making this home safe for future renters with some expensive not just cosmetic repairs.

Owner's Response: Update from owner: We value renter feedback and are always looking to make improvements to our home. Please note this review is based on opinion and is factually incorrect! There was mold reported for the first time by this renter. We sent a maintenance person, who determined this was caused by a small leak under the upstairs bathroom sink (directly above the dining room). We subsequently had the pipe repaired, and the mold tested. IT IS NOT TOXIC BLACK MOLD. We removed the drywall, dried out, bleached and repaired the ceiling. The mold inspector gave the house a clean bill of health for future renters. Also- Front porch railing was repaired, and new cleaning crew performed a deep cleaning in October, at the end of the the 2017 rental season (including carpets and upholstery). Additional maintenance and improvements will be made in the off-season.

needs attention

  • 2 of 5

Beds very uncomfortable, not enough room to open both trundle beds, large kitchen appliances need updating (oven handle broken, refrigerator ran constantly, micro old), water pressure in showers pitiful, kitchen drawers need new glides (they either stick or fall off the track), cookware/bakeware needs to be replaced (old), grill fell apart & needed to be replaced. Cleaning service has a lot to be desired - cleaned a 9 room house in 2 hours?

Owner's Response: Update from Owner: Grill was replaced with new grill. Cleaning Service has been changed. We value the input of this client, and will be making updates to the kitchen, cookware and other areas of the house in the off-season.

Charming and great location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in South Haven and loved our accommodations. The house is old and charming. The front porch was our favorite and the location was awesome. One block to the beach, one block to the river, walking distance to downtown, & great for bike riding & geocaching. Great week for both families!

This house was perfect for our visit to South Haven!

  • 5 of 5

If you want a perfect location for your South Haven vacation, this house is for you!

It is 3-4 blocks from the South Beach and 3-4 blocks from the shops and restaurants in town. The neighborhood is very nice.

While the house maybe 100 years old, the owners ongoing refurbishing makes it feel much more modern. The kitchen, dining room, living room, bedrooms and baths are in very good condition. The front porch is very relaxing and well- appointed.

If you are an "old timer", there is a very nice American Legion just across the street.

Gail Bindi is excellent to work with, very responsive and helpful.

I hope this house is available for our next trip to South Haven.

Lake Michigan- South Beach
Car: recommended

South Haven is a beautiful beach town on the shores of Lake Michigan. Enjoy long walks on sugar-white sandy beach just 2 blocks from the cottage, and stroll out on the pier to see the lighthouse and the beautiful sunsets. The marina and Black River are one block away from the house and you can watch the boats go in & out or sit and listen to an outdoor concert. Short walk to downtown restaurants, bars, boutiques, movie theater, ice cream, salon/spa, farmer's market, Kid's Corner... and short drive to sand dunes, U-pick farms, wineries, golfing. South Haven has it all!
