About Kenton

We are the three offspring of the owners, Helene and Richard, who purchased the Ocean Point condo property as a second home when it was built in 1973. Our parents still use the property on occasion. Their main residence is about one mile away in the house we grew up in, so Pacific Beach holds fond memories for us all. Over the years the condo has been a long term home to two of us at different times with just a few long term renters in between. Our family recently decided to make the condo available to vacationers with the three of us, Ralph, Kenton and Kinkani, assisting in the affairs of the condo. We will be available by phone if you have any questions. We have all enjoyed the plentiful restaurants, shops and close proximity to miles of beautiful coastline. Creating the Beach Abode has been a joint effort, and all of us are eager to make your stay a memorable one.

Kenton purchased this condo in 1973

Why Kenton chose San Diego County

The Beach Abode is located in the Ocean Point complex, a four story building that sits directly in front of the beach and steps away from the beach access stairs. Before it spreads beautiful sandy beaches that are perfect for sun bathing, swimming, jogging, and surfing. The entire stretch of beach is regularly groomed and cleared of seaweed. When our parents first saw this complex being built they jumped on the chance to have a second home right by the ocean with all these features. The unit is on the south-facing side of the building with a peek view of the ocean and Crystal Pier from the bedroom window. The view from the living room window looks north toward Mt. Soledad, with swaying palm trees scattered near and far.

What makes this condo unique

Our complex is uniquely situated next to a beautiful walking and biking path that takes you within minutes to numerous restaurants, shops, bars, grocery stores, and bike/surf board rental shops. In addition, you can stroll to the end of Crystal Pier for a spectacular view of the coast line or a likely siting of passing dolphins. Don't miss a breakfast at Kono's right in front of the pier, or just enjoy a coffee next door while gazing at the surf. A little farther down starts the beginning of the boardwalk which takes you several miles down the beach toward Belmont Amusement Park. It's a great bike ride, and if you want a more tranquil setting there's a path just across the street along Mission Bay. There really is no need to get in your car, but if you do the condo is about a 20 minute drive to the world famous San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park, 15 minutes to Sea World and 10 minutes to the spectacular cliffs, seals and shops of La Jolla. Surfers will love the short walk to a beach break or an excellent point break a little farther down the beach.

Nice apartment next to the sea

  • 5 of 5

The rooms are friendly and relatively modern furniture style, clean and in a quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed the nearby shops and restaurants, the kids loved the pool with jacuzzi and of course the sea next door! The beach was awsome. Because the whole building was under construction, our apartment manager Kenton gave us some discount, even in advance. The only issue we found permanently difficult, was keeping the sand out and drying the towels, since you are not allowed to leave stuff outside for not bothering the permanent residents there. There is a large laundry in the basement though. We were staying there for one week with our 2 teenage boys and would definetely recommand it.

Small condo, close to the sand.

  • 4 of 5

It was under construction, so hard to have a final impression of the condo overall. The unit itself was clean and comfortable. Only downside was no extra toilet paper, only 1 ice tray. Those small things certainly didn't change my vacation, just small inconveniences. We were very close to the beach, restaurants and shopping. I would love to stay there again.

Great condo easy walking from the beach and plenty of great restaraunts.

  • 4 of 5

Had a great time in this stylish condo. It was clean, comfortable and well equipped with beach towels and chairs etc. The bed was huge and comfortable - it was all just great. Would come back in a shot if I find myself in San Diego again. Parking space was a real boon as it gets busy so close to the beach.

The neighbourhood was excellent - Konos for breakfast was worth the wait in line and the bakes bear custom ice cream sandwiches were stellar.

Construction of the building affected our stay.

  • 2 of 5

The condo was lovely and clean. It also included everything we needed for our stay, umbrellas, beach chairs, etc. The area was also nice. It was close to the beach and the boardwalk. However, during our stay, the building was under construction. This negatively impacted our stay. The noise from the construction was unpleasant. There were several construction workers inside the building and in the pool area. Thus, there was no privacy when in the hot tub or pool. The parking space assigned to the unit was unavailable during our stay as construction workers took it over. I expressed my concerns to the manager. He was courteous in his response and offered a 25% discount, which I accepted because it was too late to book another place.

Were it not for the inconvenience of having to deal with the construction, I believe our stay would have been fine. I would not hesitate to book this condo next summer if the construction is over.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed our unit. Sadly, the weekday construction issues are outside of our control so all we can do is forewarn guests and offer discounts. The construction is scheduled to be finished in July 2017. We have a second parking spot in the garage so there was no problem with parking.

Great beach condo for the price. Steps away from a beautiful beach.

  • 5 of 5

This condo was very clean, open with great amenities. Kenton was a great host and made sure we had a wonderful stay. Right on the beach with several great restaurants within walking distance. Close enough to all Southern California adventures. My family loved the condo, pool and jacuzzi. The condo contained all we needed for a fun day at the beach, toys, chairs, a cooler and boogie boards. Plenty of room for a family of 4. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location and Beautiful Condo!

  • 4 of 5

Overall the stay was excellent. We had 2 vehicles with us and it was great that this was one of the few places with outside and garage parking. The condo itself was great with all amenities included. It has quite the shock and awe effect while walking in, and very spacious. I would have rated 5 stars but the lack of central air made our stay extremely hot. It was 80+ degrees outside for a few of the days and even with all fans running was a little uncomfortable. We also cooked on the stove and only 2 of the burners worked. If you don't plan to cook, this won't be a problem at all. All in all I would definitely stay again, as long as the temps outside are cooler.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the nice review! We have purchased a portable air conditioner to combat the hot days and I tested the stove and found everything working normally. Perhaps the "sure simmer" button had been pressed keeping the burner on the lowest heat level.

Map

Car: recommended

Our condo is also a short drive to La Jolla Shores and its spectacular sea cliffs and caves for kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving and a breathtaking seaside walk to a seal resting beach. This is a must-see destination for any traveler in San Diego. Scripps Aquarium in La Jolla is another great stop. Surfers will enjoy miles of beach breaks up and down the coastline, including several point breaks. Nature enthusiasts will also like Torrey Pines State Park in North County, where you can hike among historic pines, sandstone formations and panoramic vistas of the Pacific Ocean. It is also the site of a world class golf course. Whale watching boats are nearby too. Lego Land is 30 minutes away, Disneyland is 90 minutes away.

The world famous San Diego Zoo is about 20 minutes away, along with Balboa Park and its historical museums and space theater. Another 20 minutes beyond that is the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, which we highly recommend. Sea World is very close by, as well as a marina for all kinds of boat rentals. The US Navy's presence is big here, so you can even tour an aircraft carrier in downtown San Diego.

These are just a few of the many attractions in San Diego County.
