Why Chantal chose Bridgton
We bought this property because I love water and my husband likes skiing and the mountain, so it was the perfect fit.
What makes this Bungalow unique
Waterfront, can swim to small islands. Good fishing. Boat launch literally across the street for access to deeper water and different fishes. Gorgeous view of the lake and sunset. Amazing fall colors. 5 minutes to Shawnee Peak. Downhill skying, snowmobiling, ice fishing, skating, cross-country skiing. Biking. The snowmobile trail starts at the corner of the property.

Loved the little town of Bridgton. There were many shops and boutiques with unique items, the Rufus Porter museum gave some interesting history. We visited the farmers market, got smoothies from Nectar and had the freshest, most delicious lobster, mussels and clams from the little red fish market. The property was clean and accommodating with nice views of the lake and mountains. The one drawback was that the property was on a main road with a lot of traffic. Also, because the boat launch for the lake was directly across the street there were always trucks of boat owners parked in-front of the property, do I didn't have the naturesque privacy I had expected. We did enjoy the toasting marshmallows in the fire pit and I saw loons on the lake one morning, which was a big plus for me. When all is said and done, it was a great get away.
Overall good experience
Overall we had a nice visit to a beautiful state. For my husband, he was disappointed there was not a coffee maker as stated in the description and there were blinds missing on windows facing the road. Not sure why that was but we survived.
Thank you for your review. I fully understand how disappointed your husband was. The carafe broke while preparing the place for your arrival and we didn't have an extra on hand. This made me realize that we should always have an extra carafe just in case. The coffee machine has a new carafe. For the missing blind, incident happens during rental season and it is very difficult to clean and repair in the 5 hours that we have between renters. The blind will be replaced before the new season.
Thanks for staying with us
There were some nice thing about the house. The access to the pond was great. The free use of kayaks, paddle board, and paddle boat were fun. There were lots of games, puzzles , & toys available for all ages in multiple languages. There were plenty of dishes and silverware.
However, there were a few things that were unpleasant. First, when we arrived, the house reeked of a musty, damp basement smell. With all windows open day and night, it took several days to clear, and the couches still smelled when we left. Both mattresses were uncomfortable. The screens all had small holes, so there were lots of insects in the evenings.
This was neither good or bad for us, but the house is right across from a boat ramp. There are trucks with boat trailers parked up and down the road in front of the house from very early morning to late. Good to know if that might bother you.
If you rent knowing it's a little rustic and camp-like, you might be ok. If those things bother you, you might want to keep looking.
Great get away
Perfect spot for us to spend time with our grandkids. We made some super fun memories paddling around in kayaks and making s’mores. The house was clean and comfy with plenty of helpful instructions.
Property was very cleaned and well stocked. Had a nice view of the lake from the back yard.
Nice cottage on the lake
We had a great time. Great location on Moose Pond. The kids agree.
