My husband and I wanted to celebrate our 2nd anniversary in Hawaii and wanted to stay somewhere that wasn’t over populated. The Mango Retreat was the perfect spot! It’s so close to the north shore and it’s beaches and located right by the historical town of Haliewa. The house itself has such a homey feel to it. It was so welcoming and perfect! It’s kept very clean and all the amenities were available. Jaclyn provided all our beach necessities needed and even had a nice surprise for us when we arrived. We highly recommend staying here and will come back to this same spot on our next visit!

great location but not clean
This is a great location for hanging around the north shore. However, the place was not clean when we arrived. It was obvious that the bathroom mirror had not been cleaned and the counter had dried toothpaste on it. The floors in the bathroom had dirt spots as well and what looked like trails of dead insects, ants maybe? We noticed immediately after removing our shoes once inside that the floor was also not cleaned. You know that feeling when your floors are dirty and you walk around without socks? Gross. There were spider webs in places there shouldn’t be if the place is actually thoroughly cleaned after each guest. The bed is TERRIBLY uncomfortable. If you sleep on the right side of it as a couple be prepared for it to obnoxiously squeak every time you move. I needed a massage after sleeping on that bed for a few nights. The place has potential. It’s patio area is really nice and the washer and dryer are a major perk. It just falls short in so many other ways. The dishes in the cabinets were dirty too. It seems that cleanliness and decent furniture are the main issue here. The host did not respond to my initial concerns promptly but when she finally did a day before we were to check out she was kind and offered to refund our cleaning fee. Which never happened. There certainly are better places out there. Hopefully this review will encourage the host to fix some of the major issues (the bed) and find a new cleaning crew.
Two weeks 3-4-18 to 3-17-18
A little bit hard to find. So, follow directions from the manager. Google maps gets you a few blocks away. The interior was just as pictured. Kitchen cabinets and appliances are new. Bed was very comfortable. I was there for two weeks for work in Schofield. It was a 20 minute drive to Schofield. Less than an hour to Honolulu. Fairly private location even though it is just off a main road. Air conditioner worked well for keeping the bedroom cool. Bathroom/ shower was roomy and nice. The washer and dryer worked well. Haleiwa North Shore shopping and restaurants just a few blocks away. A short drive to North Shore beaches. Size is good for two people. It does not have an ocean view, but the vegetation off of the porch and yard is tropical and nice. I would stay here again. If you have a picky wife who likes luxury, this is probably not for you, but if you want a practical, fairly priced stay, this is hard to beat.
Quiet and private area for 2
We had a great time staying at the place, there was plenty room for my wife and I, the area was quiet and no one bothered us while we were there. Having boogie boards and snorkels available was also a great addition.
Nice Oahu north shore rental
Comfy 1 bedroom rental with modern kitchen & bathroom. Loved the step in shower, the comfy couch and the location about 2 minutes from Haleiwa. Huge, unique dresser in the bedroom so we could unpack. It had a window air conditioner, which was crucial, because it's pretty close to the road. We used the AC on fan mode to drown out the traffic noise at night and slept fine. It was a very busy time, with a surf competition at the Pipeline about 20 minutes away, so the traffic may be much less at other times. Nice TV with cable which we used to follow the coverage of the surf event. Enjoyed our 3 nights there very much, but light sleepers be aware!
