Hill Flats DC is an owner managed luxury 1880 brownstone on the first residential block across the street from the Library of Congress and Folgers Shakespeare Theater. Just a short walk away you will have immediate access to the US Capitol, US Supreme Court, and The National Mall.

This is the ultimate location if you are looking for immediate walk-able access to all of Washington DC's historic sites.

The building is also just few blocks away from Eastern Market and Barracks Row. For public transportation the property is a short walk to Union Station and Capitol South Metro stops in addition to numerous bus lines.

There are dozens of restaurants, cafes, and bar's within a few minute walk. There is also a neighborhood grocery store around the corner. Capitol bike share is located nearby. Walkscore is 94.

The private apartment is on the second floor of a 4 unit historic 1880 building. The flat has been freshly remodeled and has a fully appointed kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, and marble bathroom tile. For your sleeping arrangements we have 1 queen size pillow top mattress bed, 1 Full size memory foam bed. We also have an additional queen size air mattress which is available upon request.

The unit comes with everything you need to make your stay comfortable.

This is one of the most charming and well preserved buildings on one of the most desired blocks in Washington DC.

Since being built in 1880 numerous Senators, Congressmen, artists, and academics have all resided at what is now Hill Flats.

The building was previously used as a lecture hall and residence for scholars conducting research at the Library of Congress which is across the street.

Due to the buildings immediate proximity to national monuments, the National Park Service and Washington DC has designated Hill Flats a Historic building and has registered it under the Capitol Overlay and Fine Arts District. This designation ensures that all preservation is conducted under the direction of the Architect of the Capitol.

Great location, bring earplugs

The location was great to be able to get to the Capitol and other attractions. Good setup for visiting DC. The apartment was loud- the gate movement and traffic were noisy in the mornings, but the noise from the apartment above was REALLY loud. You can hear each and every step from the people upstairs late into the night. There was also no window coverings whatsoever on the bathroom window . Bring earplugs, and your stay will be fine.

Owner's Response: We will have the window cover put on ASAP! We have one that had broken right before your stay and had not been able to replace it. In regard to the people upstairs, we are sorry they are so heavy footed and that with the old historic nature of the building, footsteps can be heard. We are putting an oriental rug up there that should greatly damped the footsteps. In terms of traffic noises, this will unfortunately be a very difficult problem to avoid in the city! Best of luck and we hope you stay again!

Great location, clean and comfortable.

Would have given this five stars except that the kureg wasn't working and the bathroom sink was very slow to drain. Small details only. Comfortable bed, recently upgraded kitchen and bathroom, close to sights and restaurants. Would highly recommend this for two people.

Very cozy and awesome location😍

We were very pleased with our stay. Gene, the owner, couldn't have been more accommodating. When we arrived, the keurig was missing. After a quick message to him, he arranged for one to be placed in the room. Also, he allowed us a late checkout due to our flight time being changed. The location was awesome-just a short walk to all the most desirable sights. His tips on food were spot on as well. We utilized this information several times during our stay. The only thing I would change is to maybe have a curtain or shade over the bathroom window as the sun was blinding mid-morning. However, that's certainly was no show stopper for us. If the opportunity presents itself for is to visit D.C. Again, we will certainly try and stay here again.
