About David Hills

David and Catherine are the 10th generation of the family living on the farm ( Est 1655 by Joseph Smith) ! It is a place of history, beauty and fun.

Fun facts about David and Catherine:

First, we are passionate about people and different cultures. We have traveled far and wide and this is reflected in our home. Catherine has been a midwife for 17 years and brings her passion for Mexican artists into the home. She also is devoted to salsa dancing, motorcycling (1966 BMW), learning Spanish, grew up with deaf parents, and is even pictured on the new Smuttynose Bouncy House beer label!

David's interests include sailing, motorcycling (also), ping pong, anything to do with sustainability, and people. And he gets to be Catherine's husband! Together we have 5 adult children who we love and adore!

(Also, we know the area REALLY well and love to turn people on to special places)

Great family vacation with lots to do!

  • 5 of 5

David and Catherine's home is a special spot. Emery Farm has a lot to do. We biked & hiked the property. Walked the trail down to the dock and tried to fish at the River. We helped the farmers pick peaches. The ping pong table, swing and fire pit were added fun. Every morning we had coffee, cider donuts and fresh fruit at the farm stand. Holly and Maria have fresh coffee, fruit, veggies and pies at the stand.

Situated close to Downtown Portsmouth and Jeness Beach , a family can tour all of the shops, historic spots, great restaurants & surf at the beach!

UNH is close for a quick visit. Kittery outlets are also close for shopping.

Gorgeous, beautifully appointed home with recent updates.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful four day stay at Emery Farm House with our children. David was easy to communicate with from the start and greeted us upon our arrival to show us around. During our stay we enjoyed recreating on the trampoline, using the ping pong table, playing chess, cooking in the fabulous kitchen, visiting the farm stand daily, and just relaxing. The house is close to many attractions: downtown Portsmouth, Water Country, Ogunquit and Kittery, ME.

Inviting and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

The first impression of the house was that it was very inviting and welcoming. As soon as we stepped into the house it felt like a place we would enjoy. All of us enjoyed the yard, some of us just sitting, some on the trampoline, and the breeze was great.

We did not get to spend too much time there sure to wedding activities but what time we were there was relaxing.

Magical and picture-perfect vacation home with sensational style!

  • 5 of 5

This was one of our very favorite vacations ever. The property that this house is on is simply magical, and has been owned in the same family for over 360 years. The home itself is incredibly tasteful, and could be pulled from the pages of Architectural Digest, with beautiful antiques, artwork, comfortable furnishings, and modern finishes. The grounds are exquisite with plenty of things to do and explore. Their family farm stand next to the property offers the best in fine produce, and healthy gourmet food items, (we also bought some artisan pottery), and it also features a petting zoo with darling farm animals. There is also a beautiful river on the other side of the property to enjoy a scenic walk and/or swim in. The owners David and Catherine were so very wonderful, hospitable, and kind too, a great experience. We are looking forward to going back again, and have been raving to friends about oir incredible time there. They already want to join in our next trip! Enjoy, you will be thrilled with your stay there!
