About this property

Serene Log Cabin Nestled Among the Battlefields

This custom built log house (sleeps 4-5)sits on the original spring house foundation from the early 1800's. The house is in the foot hills of the Maryland Mountains near world class golf resorts, ski resorts, shopping, antiquing, fantastic hiking, and some of the nation’s most important historic battlefields. The cabin is all wood inside and out. It has a large stone fireplace, as well as a classic wood stove which can be used for cooking and baking. Unfortunately due to a few incidents we have changed our policy to no wood-burning fires inside the cabin. We do have a fireplace insert that holds fuel cans that burn for a nice cozy atmosphere without endangering our guests or the cabin. We’ve recently installed a new heating and AC system so the cabin is warm and toasty in with red and cool in summer. The bedrooms are actually open 2 open loft areas with a catwalk connecting them to a central landing. The upstairs is open to the downstairs and leaves the cabin with a large spacious feeling. The 2 beds are built in and each loft has a small seating area and a private balcony. There is a small convertible sofa that can be extended for 1 additional sleeper. There’s a deck off the back, overlooking the main house’s back yard and the neighboring horse fields. The back deck in the mornings can’t be beat for sipping coffee and watching the horses as the dew burns off the fields.

Cute little cabin.
Very cute little cabin. Stairs to upstairs are steep, but manageable. Bed was comfortable. The chair that pulls out for bed is full size. Not terribly comfortable because there is a wood piece that is about 1/3 the way from the back of the chair that you can feel through the cushion, but it was still a good option for someone who has difficulty with the stairs. The bathroom is small with airplane type toilet, but that was kind of fun. There is a louvre door to the bathroom, so not much privacy, but we made do. It served us well for the 2 of us and the 2 dogs and the quirkiness made it fun too.

Not great
If i would have know that there was down decorative pillows i would not have stayed. My family reunion was cut short to my extreme allergies to down. Throw pillows upstairs to try to get some relief...but throat was sweeling shut. My one son sprained.his ankle on the rolled off driveway. Horrible parking. The cabin was very dusty with all the knick knacks and unable to wash the walls. Im sure others would enjoy it but it just was a bad experience. Oh the door know is loose unable to lock. Debbie D.

Quaint little cabin
Started rather bumpy. Finding the parking is a challenge. The driveway is hidden which in itself is not a problem. Getting into it could be. We drive a compact and still had to take several swipes to get into the parking spot. Certainly not perilous but tight all the same. We were warned before arriving that it is tight parking. I would not suggest driving a full size here. The only other things worth mentioning are that there is another house sharing the lot less than 50 yards from the cabin and the decks could use a cleaning. We had a nice time.

Cute cabin
The cabin we stayed in was a very cute cabin. I especially liked the upstairs loft area. Our only suggestion would be for the owner to leave a few instructions in the cabin itself. We blew a fuse and had to wait for the owner to respond before we could find the breaker to flip. Otherwise we throughly enjoyed our stay.
