About Jim Harter and Anneke Leffel

We started coming to the Berkshires a few years ago and just fell in love the area. We lovingly restored this home and filled it with our collection of antiques. We are looking forward to sharing this with you.

What makes this house unique

As you walk into the Victorian Manor, built back in 1876, you are reminded of its history right away. The beautiful front porch features marble steps that came from area's quarries started in the late 1800's by one of the original owners of this house, the Deely family. The Lee quarries provided marble for many of the turn-of-the century estates that are now scattered throughout the Berkshires, as well as some of the monuments in Washington DC.

In our recent renovation, special consideration was given to restoring the house to its original form, as well as furnishing it with fixtures and antiques matching the time period. Most of the home's original wood floors have been restored, as well as the original doors and hardware. Enjoy the charm of the parlor room, with its bay window and adjoining library, with a very special antique Quarter Sawn Oak Secretary.

Modern conveniences can be appreciated in our renovated kitchen, with Carrara Marble countertops and large stainless steel stove. Cook to your heart's content, while friends and family sit around the ample butcher block island.

The upstairs bathrooms feature with subway and hexagon tiles, designed to match the period of the house. One special bathroom even has a pedestal sink from 1899! All bedrooms have their own bathrooms.

Comfortable large house full of character

  • 5 of 5

I loved this property and the owners are super responsive. The first night the heat kept coming on (user error!) and the radiators are noisy. The owners solved our problem and the next night was quiet! Great open kitchen and dining plan for socializing with friends. We were 4 adults, 2 teenagers and 4 kids and there was plenty of room for everyone. All the amenities. Great location for a ski weekend at Butternut. We'll be back if they'll have us.

Clean, fresh, open, great for a family get together

  • 5 of 5

My whole family was very impressed by every aspect of this property. Appliances were high end, walls were fresh, floors very clean throughout, beds comfortable. A great old home restored beautifully.

We liked also the give and take cabinet, where people had left coffee's, teas, pasta... and use and replace as needed.

The only challenge we had was figuring out the fancy coffee maker. It took four of us, so maybe a simple instruction card! :0

We would stay here again!

beautiful, spacious home

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent a wonderful summer in this gorgeous home. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and clean, and the kitchen is updated with a 5 burner stove and large island. The outdoor space is great with a fire pit and hammock! Conveniently located to shops and restaurants in the Berkshires. Has a private feel, even with neighbors close by. Highly recommend!

Great Location for a Berkshire Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Great location for a concert we attended at Tanglewood. The house had everything we needed and comfortably fit us all. We enjoyed the patio and fire pit and the fenced in area was ideal for the dog. We would definitely return to this house :)

Lovely home with room for all!

  • 5 of 5

This lovely home is brimming with character and charm! The rooms are comfortable and amenities modernized without taking away from the home's original character. The owners were extremely responsive to any questions or requests we had and although we spent most of our time at the house, the town of Lee is quaint and a very short walk from the house. We definitely hope to return in the near future!
