Natural beauty is right!

  • 3 of 5

If you enjoy gorgeous mountain views and lovely gardens, then you will appreciate this beauty spot. It is casual living in the countryside. The owner was very good to deal with and available when we needed to communicate with him. The interior of the home needed some updating which I understand is soon to be completed and will make for a very comfortable and relaxing stay....within driving distance to lots of great outdoor activities. Ideal for families and reunions.

Fantastic Fall Outing!

  • 5 of 5

Grandma's Gift was the perfect place to relax after a long day of biking, hiking and just taking in the beauty of The Laurel Highlands in the fall. The property is a short distance from the turnpike and many area atteactions, but is tucked away in seclusion that makes for the perfect peaceful getaway with gorgeous panoramic views. The owners went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable during our stay. The condition of the property exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be back with the rest of the family. Thank you Grandma's Gift for an amazing weekend we won't forget!

Lovely spot for a fall getaway

  • 4 of 5

Perfect location for access to Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob [and/or for many outdoor activities].

Beautiful property. Responsive owners. Would be very comfortable for a group.

We were there during peak fall and if there weren't so many things to do in the area, we could have comfortably sat on the property drinking hot cider and walking the grounds.

Who could ask for anything more?

  • 5 of 5

We loved Grandma's Gift so much, we extended our stay an extra night. Peace, tranquility, beauty both inside and out.

We were on our way home to NYC after many weeks away teaching and lecturing. Decided we needed a break outside Pittsburgh before heading back to Real Life and our piles of mail. This place looked beautiful online, so we decided to try it.

From the beginning, Max went way out of his way to ensure that we had all we needed to arrange our stay. When he says "Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions," he really means it! His replies were prompt and informative, and he was very flexible in organizing paperwork while we were on the road before getting here.

Once we arrived, we knew we were in good hands. Sheila was very welcoming, and made sure we knew where everything was. Her front door wildflower garden is beyond belief: beautifully planted, a gardener's delight, and I have never seen so many butterflies in my life. We took nice walks around the property, which is large and well-maintained. But mostly we just read, napped, cooked, ate, watched the butterflies in the morning on one side of the house, and the glorious sunsets in the evening on the other.

I slept better here than I have in ages: pretty much all you can hear is birdsong, and all you can see is spectacular views of the mountains and forest, with not a person in sight. The floor to ceiling glass windows on both sides let in great amounts of light, without making you feel exposed to anything but fluffy clouds or moonlight.

We were just one couple, so we shared the lovely master-bedroom with its soaking tub. (For larger groups: The second bedroom is beautiful, and nice and private. The loft upstairs is utterly charming, with its own bath and lots of sunlight, but doesn't really give privacy. The bedroom in the basement is Kids Only: underground, small windows, with 2 big beds across from each other that would be a lot of fun for kids to bond, but not really for adults.) We particularly enjoyed the decor, which is tasteful and artistic, made us feel right at home. The local wood and stone indoors is stunning.

We brought food (stop at the Appletree? Farmstand just before getting off 138) and really enjoyed cooking in the open kitchen, with mountain views.

It is a short drive to Fallingwater and the state parks, both amazing - but to be honest, relaxing here was the best part of our stay! We hated to leave.

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a weekend getaway and came across this vacation home named Grandma's Gift. I e-mailed to inquire about availability and Max (owner of the property) quickly responded giving us details about the home. We loved the description, pictures and the location of the property!

The home has a huge backyard equivalent of a small baseball field overlooking the hills of Laurel Highlands. You could just spend hours on end reading a book and/or drinking a beer, enjoying the view as the summer breeze brushes by. We spent 90% of our time playing with our kids in the backyard and they absolutely loved it!

Great location, warm and wonderful hosts, perfect home to get away from the hustle and bustle and to disconnect from the busy life. The home has everything you'd need for a vacation with family! The Ohiopyle State Park is a 10 min drive.

Turn those tablets and phones off, and just come here to relax and enjoy nature! We'd go here again in a heartbeat.
