Great, relaxing stay at a fully furnished cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

Very nice, secluded cabin in the woods. Has all the amenities of home, including AC, heat, Direct TV and WiFi. Plenty of space for the two of us plus our 20 month old Daughter, who enjoyed exploring the property. There are steep stairs inside the cabin, but we brought a child gate which kept her from climbing those unsupervised. If you're looking for some peaceful solitude in the fun town of Christopher Creek, this is a great choice. We'll be back.

Private escape in the woods!

  • 4 of 5

I had never been to Payson and I was looking for a cabin not too far from civilization but a nice wooded private setting. Place was great had everything you need and more. If you are into birding you will love the Acorn Woodpeckers. I got an awesome photo. Also saw a pair a painted redstarts.

Not for the elderly or chronically ill/needs upgrading big time

  • 3 of 5

My bad. I did not pay enough attention when booking. But there is NO bedroom downstairs. All 4 beds are in a "loft" that one must reach by going up narrow, slippery, twisting stairs. No privacy-so best LOVE your sleep mates. The bathroom (one) is downstairs. I have a connective tissue disease and a chronic gastro disease. This was very difficult for me. Also one of my small dogs fell down the stairs. although no fault of the owners, the loft was very hot as it was in the 90s. There are two window A/Cs (one up one down), but not effective for day upstairs. This is a small cabin. I would not do more than 6. Where would all sit? We were also lacking table space. We wanted to start a puzzle, yet the only table is the dining table with 6 chairs. Needed that space for food and meals. Small kitchen. Main sitting room: one small couch, 2 chairs, no coffee table. Not much shade outside. A porch for 2. The owners were very sweet, but I think the charge per night is too high for what you do (or don't) get. (Was $200 per night over a holiday weekend--I regret the expenditure.) If they did some remodeling, extended the porch, invested in a downstairs bedroom, and updated the kitchen (no stove--("decor")only--you get 1 convection plate & electric skillet). It's also the little things that count: replacing a broken, unusable ceiling fan upstairs? Having no hangers in the one closet, pull latches on drawers broken, defrosting the refrigerator that froze all of our produce and then could not be used, better sitting options, coffee table? Again, sweet, communicative owners, but some care, attention to detail as well as some money needs to be invested in this rental property. I would not rent again unless upgrades were made. Not to be disrespectful, I'm just being honest. Honesty helps owners improve. For every good review, there are dozens who just remain silent, not taking the time to review. They simply stay silent and just don't return. For reference, I have used VRBO and rented often. I hope my comments are taken as constructive. Having nothing but "good" reviews is misleading when making vacation stay decisions.

Owner's Response: Thank you, we do appreciate your feedback. We do intend to keep the rustic, cabin feel, however, we always want to make sure our guests are comfortable. In reviewing our communication when you later requested additional guests, we were very specific about the loft sleeping arrangements. Our rate has remained constant at $150 and we did not charge for additional guests. We do hope that you enjoyed your time up at Christopher Creek, thank you again.

Fun Experience

  • 5 of 5

This is a rustic cabin that is away from everyday life. We had a good stay and found the host to be very easy to deal with on issues. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who needs to get away and unwind. It is in a quiet, beautiful area.
