About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, Sleeps 4-6

Rustic and charming getaway in the Laurel Highlands. Enjoy country surroundings 3 miles from downtown Ligonier and all its wonderful shops and restaurants.

Recently renovated, contemporary kitchen, gas fireplace and wood burning stove, sunny sunroom and rustic fire pit are a few of the amenities that will make you feel welcome. Rolling hills and wildlife surround this built-into the hillside cabin.

Gourmet style kitchen, every amenity except a microwave. Snack bar for hanging out or preparing a meal. If you like to cook, make sure you visit the area farm stands and especially the Ligonier Country Market on Saturdays 8-12:00 May-September. Amazing, awesome market with juried vendors. The market features organic meats, produce, plants, wineries, baked goods, fresh and prepared foods, handmade craft, delicious food-pierogi! grilled pizzas! fresh squeezed juices! Don't miss it, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

2 nice sized bedrooms, recently painted and finished with excellent beds and bedding.

Extra sleeping available - Serta blow-up bed. Let us know and we'll make it available.

Cabin decor is an eclectic mix of furniture- antiques, thrift shop finds and interesting artwork and artifacts. "rustic!"

Sunroom is a combination living room and dining area that is the favorite place to hang. 9 windows give you a leafy view to the woods and meadows .

Industrial style staircase leads from the upper level to the lower level entrance, complete with flowering garden on each side. Where this cool welded hunk of metal staircase came from, we don't know, but we love it and it is a favorite spot to sit.

10 minutes from Idlewild, famous children's amusement park, built in 1800's and considered one of the top children's parks in the world.

The town of Ligonier is 3 miles away with its many restaurants and great shops.

About Tom and Lenor Mirochna

My husband Tom and I grew up in Michigan and have lived in Woodbury New Jersey for over 30 years. We love where we live, about 15 miles from our favorite big city, Philadelphia.

We Love our urban area but also really enjoy the peacefulness of trees, streams and farms like we have found in the Laurel Highlands.

We purchased this cabin in 2009 after one of many over-the-years road trips to visit family in Michigan.

Tom and Lenor Mirochna purchased this cabin in 2009

Why Tom and Lenor Mirochna chose Pennsylvania

We affectionately (?#%$$XXX) nicknamed the cabin our 'money pit.' Many years later (it seemed like MANNNNNNY) we have completed the renovation, or what I like to call phase one. (Tom, my husband does not agree with that but I digress) We love the area and enjoy the peacefulness of the countryside. We also Love the fact that there are many things to do outdoorsy or artsy, fun shopping, a quickly improving foodie scene and must see experiences within an hour away- Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water and Flight 98 Memorial to name a couple.

What makes this cabin unique

We like the fact that you can see many stars at night. And we like the fact that we 'unplug' a little while we are at the cabin.

A place to relax from it all

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful stay I had in Ligonier! I was visiting the area for work and needed a place to unplug at the end of the day. This cabin fit the bill perfectly. It was quaint, quiet and in a secluded lot surrounded by nature. I saw deer each morning and the downstairs area with all it's windows was a perfect place for that. The kitchen was very modern as was the rest of the cabin. It was a wonderful stay and I would stay again as well as recommend this to any travelers in Western PA

My husband, toddler, and dogs thouroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was charming, well-equipped, and perfectly located. Lenor and Tom were delightful hosts...they were very responsive and accommodating, and they provided wonderful recommendations for restaurants and events in the area. We enjoyed the new deck and the dogs loved exploring the surrounding property. Thank you so much for the wonderful weekend. We hope to see you again soon!

Perfect family get away!

  • 5 of 5

2 adults, 2 toddlers, and a puppy here. We just adored our stay at "the Cozy Cottage," as our three year old has dubbed it. Everything was just right, the welcome basket was the sweetest touch, and the setting was so serene. Thank you for the perfect spot to land after busy days at the many near by Laurel Highlands attractions.
