Farmhouse with Magnificent Sea Views

Bedrooms 4
Property type farmhouse
Minimum Stay 4 nights

About the property

4 bedroom farmhouse sleeps 8 near Dingle

Old farmhouse refurbished as a holiday home with magnificent views of Dingle Bay, Skellig Rocks and the Atlantic. Four bedrooms, sleeping 8. €400-600 per week. Excellently situated for exploring the Dingle Peninsula and surrounding Kerry countryside.

The Dingle Peninsula has a lot to offer. Dingle Town (12km) has plenty of pubs and restaurants to suit most tastes. There is traditional Irish music and dancing for the energetic; and some of the finest seafood to be found in Ireland. Dingle Town hosts an aquarium and the most famous local attraction is a visit to see Fungi, the friendly Dingle dolphin, at the mouth of the harbour where he has lived for twenty years.

Also in the area there are pottery and craft stores, one of which offers the opportunity to test your own pottery skills! Excellent golf courses, sandy beaches with shore angling, and bike hire is available; as is horse-riding. There are many archaeological sites in the west of the peninsula with plenty of walks linking them, most notably the Dingle Way. The property overlooks the impressive Iron Age Dunbeg Fort.

The house itself has four bedrooms (3 double, 1 twin), and is able to sleep ten. An infant’s cot is also available.

The living room boasts an open coal / peat fire, with the house also having storage heating. There is a large, walled front garden with fantastic views and a private drive up to the side of the house. Worth a special mention is the Stone House restaurant and bar, which is a short walk from the house.

The house offers the opportunity to stay within easy reach of the Dingle peninsula’s renowned tourist attractions; whilst retaining a quiet and idyllic setting overlooking the expanse of the Atlantic Ocean.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The house had everything we needed, and our children enjoyed the presence of the dogs and cats in the farmyard behind, not to mention the cows and sheep across the road.

Location is ideal, to the extent that we didn't travel more than eight miles from the house any day during the week, but visited three great beaches, an aquarium, three historic buildings and two museums, as well going hill-walking and sea-kayaking. You could not ask for better views of Dingle Bay

Third time staying at this home and we had a great time (again). We enjoy the views, the lambs, the farm, the family, the towns, the people, the walks and everything else about this place.

Excellent farmhouse and hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We had a family reunion with 8 of us! Mary and din helped us feel right at home. The one bath took some scheduling but was a pleasant reminder of the old days!! She checked in us regularly and we enjoyed our visit. The storehouse restaurant just down the road was excellent drinks and food. Great hosts there too!!

Can't fault it!

  • 5 of 5

Very accommodating family and great traditional Irish farmhouse similar to what they use to be like! Any assistance and advice was great from the family and the location even though hesitant initially on taking due to distance from Dingle town worked out fine plus the added benefit you don't get to wake up with the views from the front of the house like this in too many places around Dingle.

'Twas a Grand Stay for the Month of April 2014

  • 5 of 5

Upon arrival at "Jack's House" the first impression was the spectacular view. This was confirmed by the periodical stopping of tour vans in front of the house. Our month long stay was highlighted by the birthing of lambs and calves on the farm next door. Our neighbors, Denis and Mary were gracious and welcoming. They made our experience one we will never forget. Ireland is a beautiful country; but it is the people you meet that stay in your heart. My wife and I highly recommend Jack's House for the beauty of the area and the warmth of its neighbors.

stunning views and cute little lambs

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 3 adults and 2 children who stayed 4 days at this property. The views are stunning, since the front of the house faces the Atlantic and the Iveragh penninsula. The beds were comfortable, and there was ample room for us. This is a traditional old farmhouse like you see them all over the Irish countryside - my husband and his sister were delighted since they grew up in pretty much the same kind of house. The kids didn't care much for the view but loved the lambs - we were there during lambing season and I think 16 lambs were born while we stayed there. The caretakers next door, despite being so busy with lambing and calving, took time to let the kids hold and pet the lambs each evening - a big thanks especially to the daughter of them, who was lovely with our kids. Location-wise, the Dingle way is accessible on foot by walking about 400m or so along the Slea head drive (which passes in front of the house), and we did a bit of it (not much - kids complaining too much), with amazing, gorgeous views. Dunbeg Fort is right next door, though we didn't go there on this trip. Dunquin and Cumenoole Beach are pretty close. Our recommendation for cafe fare and beautiful, stunning pottery made on the premises is the Louis Mulcahey Pottery and Cafe in Clogher, on the Slea Head drive a little after Dunquin. We ate a light lunch there every day. Highly recommended.

We would definitely stay at this property again!
