The Greene Family Farm is a 75 acre pastoral farm nestled in a valley in the Appalachian foothills of Tryon, NC. More specifically, our farm is located in the small community of Green Creek, NC just 3 miles from the Tryon Equestrian Center (TIEC) on Pea Ridge Road, Mill Spring, NC. The home is very large and can entertain large parties of up to 12 people with its outdoor patio, recreation room, large kitchen, 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and 2 living rooms. The entire house was completely remodeled in 2015. We have a scenic pond, a rumbling creek, hiking trails, and equestrian trails on our farm. There's also a wonderful large barn we are currently remodeling to serve our equestrian visitors. The farm is one of the closest large farms to the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC).

About Don Greene
We are a family native to Polk county since 1865. We've raised our 4 children here and though we our journeys have taken across the U.S. at times, we have enjoyed coming back to this farm our entire lives. Don is a minister and landscaper and Joan is a speech language pathologist for Spartanburg County schools. We now live just across the border in South Carolina.
Don Greene purchased this Farmhouse in 1865
Why Don Greene chose Tryon
We are excited to have the opportunity to share a farm our family has loved for generations! The rolling hills, mountain views and cascading rivers of Green Creek, NC were a hidden gem only known to the locals that cherished this area until the fabulous Tryon Equestrian Center opened last year just 3 miles away. We welcome equestrian enthusiasts, cyclists, hikers, wine explorers and those looking for an amazing getway nestled in the Appalachian foothills.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
Our farm is in a scenic valley, that offers privacy and unbroken views of the landscape. A road winds through the middle of our property, making it very accessible and easy to explore. We have rumbling creeks, rolling hills and a scenic pond to offer our visitors!

Sports & Adventure Activities
Our third stay in three years. Love the house.
We have stayed here three years in a row while we attend horse shows at Tryon International Equestrian Center. The house is spacious and well kept. Plenty of room for our group. The Green's are good hosts.
Beautiful house and property!
We enjoyed our weekend at this beautiful home! The house was clean and the pictures on the internet were spot on! We loved that each bedroom had a theme. Don was so easy to work with! The house was so close to TIEC. We will most definitely be staying there again! Thank you Don for everything!
Great family home
We skipped the beach this year and went to the foothills. What a nice house. The kids loved the pond across the street and the fish that are there. One fish would follow the kids around the lake as we were walking.
The house is well maintained and the only issue we had was the washing machine. Don was quick to respond and said he was going to replace the unit.
It is secluded and that is what we were looking for this year. We ate all of our meals outside and it was so peaceful.
Great New Years Trip
We had 11 people and had plenty of room at this house. It was great b/c there were 6 bedrooms and 4 full baths and plenty of room for parking! We loved being tucked out in the country, but still had a close drive to dining, grocery stores, and an easy drive to Asheville. We went to 2 wineries that were extremely close to the house. We had a great meal at a little town close by called Landrum and ate at The Hare and The Hound...Definitely recommend. Don was very accommodating and very quick to respond. Awesome house, we loved it!
Family Christmas trip
Our family chose this house for our family Christmas get together because it was close to Spartanburg. The Greene Family house is very comfortable and welcoming. There was plenty of room for our group and the house is very well maintained. Very pretty and relaxing area. The bedrooms are all a nice size with comfortable beds. We all enjoyed our stay at the house and the decorated Christmas tree and little Christmas touches throughout the house was a very nice. Thanks Greene Family for sharing your home. We would definitely stay again.
A Great Family Holiday Retreat
This was our second Thanksgiving weekend staying at the Greene family farm. This host is so easy to work with and so accommodating. They had tables and chairs in the large sunroom off the kitchen for us ( we were feeding 17 this year). They added a pool table and a TV in that room which all the guys enjoyed. This home is in driving distance from Spartanburg and Greenville so local family members could go back and forth each day. A large new bathroom was added downstairs so there are really two master bedroom suites. The home is spotless, all the beds comfortable, and very nice linens are provided. We could not have asked for better accommodations. The guys played golf at a nearby course and shopping is close by. We spent lots of time rocking on the front porch and sitting on the patio in the back. A fun time was had by all.
Nestled in the Appalachian foothills, we are one of the closest large farms to the new Tryon International Equestrian Center.
Take a self directed wine tour! We are located next door to Mountain Brook Winery and we are within 4 miles of Overmountain Vineyards, Russian Chapel Winery, Green Creek Winery and Parker-Binns Winery.
We are very close to the best whitewater kayaking east of the Mississippi at the Green River Narrows. The Broad and Green Rivers are within 3 miles and a creek on our property runs into the Green River.
Explore the great hiking in our area, especially the several fantastic waterfall hikes within a 15 minute drive!
For cyclists, their is very little traffic on our scenic roads. Their are numerous routes, including the Assault on Mount Mitchell and Assault on Mount Marion road races that route through the middle of our farm!
