About Liz and Earl Ashurst

I am an lllinois girl who came to love the mountains after meeting my love at BYU (a Utah boy) lo many years ago. It has been his dream to own a piece of a mountain all our married life. We have moved around quite a bit and now reside in Texas. Our 6 children (and 19 grandchildren) are scattered around the country. We have had to rent a facility to all be together. We have worked hard to make this home a place where we can all be together. With the ''bunk house' finished above the garage, we finally have that.

Liz and Earl Ashurst purchased this house in 2015

Why Liz and Earl Ashurst chose Wallsburg

Driving up Provo Canyon one day with my son who lives in Midway, I asked him to turn off at the sign that said Wallsburg. We had driven past it many times and wondered what was there. We were amazed at this wonderful valley so close to so much and yet so off the beaten path. We zeroed in on an amazing A-frame nestled up on the bench. My husband and I decided it would be the perfect gathering spot our family and are anxious to share it with others. With main house that sleeps 17 and (in summer and Fall) the unheated bunkhouse that sleeps 15 as an add on, a group of 32 can be easily accommodated.

What makes this house unique

The location is what hooked us on it. Close to Provo and Orem in one direction, almost across the road from Deer Creek Reservoir and the Provo River; minutes from ski resorts and the Midway/Heber attractions.

We love the views from the 2 story 'A' window, the log staircase in the great room and the huge deck.

Most of all we love hearing our granchildren giggling under the quilts in the bunk beds after a family meal at the amazing tables my husband made!

This is a very comfortable house to enjoy year round. Go to the reservoir in the summer, enjoy snow sports in the winter or just stay 'home' and relax. It is not a luxury house but well supplied and maintained. The house is NOT air conditioned but if you open up the windows when the sun goes down, it will cool off quickly on a hot day and you will find yourself closing the windows before long. The bunkhouse which sleeps another 15 is available at an additional fee during months when heating is not required. Call for details if you are interested in renting it.

Very nice cabin

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. We had 12 adults, 6 couples staying. 1 couple stayed in the basement living area. Everyone had their own room and was very comfortable. The view was amazing and the kitchen very well stocked.

Response time from the owner was a little slow. But we never needed help during our stay so this wasn't a huge inconvenience.

We recommend this cabin, especially for large families with children. There was so much to do!

Peaceful gettaway with family

  • 5 of 5

Everyone enjoyed the weekend stay. We really liked that there were multiple rooms with a few beds each. The location is very serene. Very fun home for group activities and space to spread out. It's great to feel tucked up above everything and remote, yet just a short drive to a larger city for restaurants/grocery. I am looking forward to staying here again!

Amazing Family Reunion Site

  • 5 of 5

We loved our 3-night stay. The owners were so accommodating and hospitable. The facility was ideal for our group - plenty of good beds, kitchen and dining conveniences, and a peaceful view of the valley that was so incredible. The kids loved the neighbor dogs to play with, even on the trampoline, but we fear one boot left outside near the porch must have gone home with a dog. Otherwise, our stay was really memorable and absolutely unforgettably pleasant!! What a great place to make priceless memories together!

Great Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at this cabin! We had 16 people and there was plenty of room for us. We loved the fully stocked kitchen, bedding, games, and movies. The big kitchen and large eating area were especially great. The yard with the play set and trampoline were a hit with the kids, and the owners were great to work with. We would definitely come back!

A very family friendly cabin with a great kitchen!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at this cabin over MLK Jr. weekend. The cabin, linens, and property were very clean and well kept. The living spaces were large enough for our group of 14 to feel comfortable and not cramped. There were plenty of toys, games, books, and dvds to keep us entertained. Unfortunately there was no snow, but we still had a great time and only left once to go into Heber. The kitchen is really well stocked! Plenty of dishes, spices, and appliances to cook for a crowd. We ran into a small problem with the outside garbages being full from a previous group, but the owner was very responsive and promptly helped us solve the problem.

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfect for our girls retreat. We loved the long kitchen tables with benches where we could all sit and play games. The kitchen was beautiful and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and warm with the room heaters. The only problem we had was getting the wood pellet stove to turn on. It didn’t turn on until the day we were leaving. So it was a little chilly in the basement family room. But, we had a wonderful time staying here. It was a great place to get away. We enjoyed heading over to soldier hollow one day for some sledding and then back to the cabin for more fun! I highly recommend it!
