Tough sleep
If you want a good night's sleep, this isn't the place. The bed was old and creaky. I furniture is old and uncomfortable. The website was misleading in that we thought we were renting the whole house but ended up in the dark bottom story.

Nice place but overpriced
Would have been a pleasant stay. Nothing special, just a place to sleep and hangout when not out and about. My party was initially myself and my 5 kids. Paid what felt like quite a bit for 3 nights. Not a huge deal. The place I usually get was booked and I needed something. On the day of check in, 3 extra people (teenage daughters friends) wanted to come. Ok, no problem, I'll bring extra stuff (blow up mattress, extra blankets, food, bathroom supplies etc...) to accommodate. The more the merrier. The morning after our first night the property owners knocked on our door upset about the 3 extras and the fact that I did not pay for them (had no idea the room rate was based on #of people......I'm in the wrong business) then they started rambling about re-using towels, and limiting water usage, and mentioned it is ONLY a $55 dollar cleaning fee. Felt like I was being lectured on my VACATION. I paid for 3 nights during which the owners have no obligation to provide anything extra. No cleaning service, no room service, no extra anything. I paid my own money to bring extra things to accommodate the 3 other people. But that wasn't good enough. Paid these people another big amount for them to not provide anything extra. And I left the place very clean as I ALWAYS DO. Was very hard not to use every dish and cloth in the place and leave it dirty, but i just couldnt do it lol. Trip ruined and feel taken advantage of. Had to cut back on things we had planned because of that. Like an entire day of activities. 6 teenagers and a 9 year old gets pretty pricey. Will not use this location again. The place I usually stay is much nicer, less pricey, and nobody has ever bothered us, not even once over petty things like this.

About the host

I grew up in a small farming town of Holstein, Ia. After graduation and Beauty college, I re-located to city life in Des Moines, Ia. I met my husband through a co-worker whose husband also worked at the Firestone Tire plant where my husband was employed for 32 years. My husband served 4 yrs in the Navy prior to his working at the tire plant.
We married in 1988 and have two daughters.
When my sister and her fiancee bought property on a mountaintop in Mountain View, AR we visited the area and decided to purchase property here as well. We fell in love with the beauty of the location and were fortunate to find property with gorgeous, mountaintop views! We moved here in 2004.Our daughters were just going into high school. As a result, it turned out to be a great transition for our family.
We started our Cottage rental in the fall of 2012. My husband decided to make use of the goose neck trailer we had and transformed it into the Tiny house on the mountaintop! My husband is the master of carpentry skills and landscaping. All the hard work that went into creating the place we call "Home " is credited to my husband's vision and talent.

Why they chose this property

With the panoramic, gorgeous mountaintop views, we knew this had to be the place to start a new life with our family.

What makes this property unique

We have gorgeous, mountaintop views and solitude to enjoy! We enjoy the wildlife and the pleasure of Star gazing that you just don't have in the cities.
We've provided a setting that welcomes families and children to experience a peaceful setting. There are covered areas to enjoy the outdoors and yet, not have to be in the elements during inclement weather.
In 2015 both our daughters chose to come home to have their outdoor weddings here! They were both beautiful settings and we were thrilled to have them performed here on our property.
We are a small business, but, we sincerely enjoy our guests and treat everyone as family. I provide guests with some kind of baked goods to welcome them to our 'Home '!
