Overview

About the property

2 bedroom, 2 bath with loft, within walking distance to Alyeska Ski Resort

Come relax in this adorable 2 bedroom, 2 bath, and loft, Ski Chalet. Master bedroom has 1 king bed, spare room has 1 queen bed, and the loft also has 1 queen bed and 1 air mattress. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you may need, that's if you get sick of eating at all the delicious restaurants in the area, Double Musky, Jack Sprat, and Chair 5, just to name a few of our favorites. This is the perfect home away from home for all your Girdwood adventures. After a long day of skiing, hiking, mountain biking, or fishing, come relax next to the fire place, or take a dip in the new hot tub! We also have a BBQ and an outdoor fire pit for your enjoyment. We are on a large corner lot, easy to find, yet secluded. Peek-a-boo mountain views from all the front windows allow you to check out the mountain conditions. The chalet is roughly .5 miles from the resort. Its up hill on the way to the resort, so skiing home would be a breeze. Just a short drive brings you to the impressive cross country skiing trail system, in case downhill just isn't your thing. Alyeska has recently opened up an extensive mountain biking trail system for you summer adventurers. There are ample hiking trails in the area, including Winner Creek, a favorite of mine. Girdwood is a great middle ground to explore towns south of anchorage as well! A short 25 miles south is the town of Whittier, highly recommended for fishing or a sight seeing tour of Prince William Sound, which offers an abundance of marine life in the summer months. Orcas, Humpbacks, otters, and birds to name a few. Keep driving south and you'll find yourself in Seward, Kenai, Soldotna, and Homer.

Really clean, cozy

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here for a weekend this August (during the local Blueberry festival which I also highly recommend coming to see if you're in the area). The house was really clean when we got there and a lot bigger than I initially thought from pictures and was a perfect little getaway for us. Definitely would stay here again. Unfortunately we didn't have time to use the hot tub but it was tucked around the side of the house, very private!

Great experience. Loved the house and location. Plenty of room. Nice and clean. Loved the theme of bears and moose. Had some extra stuff we didn't expect like a hot tub, air hockey table , games, etc

Great location

  • 3 of 5

The cabin was in a great location between Anchorage and Whittier. Very quiet place. However there are a few suggestions to make to the owner. The first and most important is to please get darkening curtains. For guests that are not from the area it is very hard to adjust having light through the night, specially in the bedroom areas.

The pots and pans need to be replaced, the Teflon is all worn out and this is not a healthy situation for cooking. More kitchen appliances are needed for those who want to do some cooking in the cabin.

Also to have more instructions on how to use the electric appliances that are available would be great,. It took us two days to figure out there was Netflix ....

Maybe some outside maintained of the yard would keep bugs away...

Owner's Response: Hi Patricia, Thank you for your honest review and I'm sorry you didn't feel you had a 5 star stay at our cabin. I am going to address each of your concerns below. As for the curtains in the bedrooms, we have both blinds and curtains in both rooms. We feel this is plenty dark enough, and with most of or clients being from out of state, we have never had any other complaints on light. Maybe on your next visit to Alaska bring a small eye cover? The pots and pans and kitchen, thank you for brining this to my attention. It has been a while since I was there, the pots and pans have been replaced with brand new stuff! As far as kitchen appliances, I cannot figure out what you mean. We have stove, oven, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, coffee pot, rice cooker, blender, toaster, everything that I have in my own home. If you would like to email me what you feel was missing I would be happy to address it. On the appliances, I have pretty detailed instructions on how to use both TV's in the home. I do not have the Netflix detailed because this is my own personal account, if people figure it out, that's fine but I don't advertise it. As far as the bugs go, that is Alaska in the summer time, Mosquitos may as well be the state bird! There really isn't a whole lot we can do about the landscaping, its in the forest. If you look at all the neighboring homes, none of them have landscaping. I will bring down some citronella candles, and bug spray is always an option as well! I hope I have addressed all your concerns and that corrections have been made to help the next guest. Enjoy the rest of your summer! Thank you so much for staying with us. -Jessica

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

This a great spot for a relaxing weekend. Two nice bedrooms and a huge loft that looks over the living room. We were a small party but with three beds and a few air mattresses you could easily fit more. The hot tub was awesome and the air hockey table was a fun bonus. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back!
