About Christian Williams

Tired of life in the Chicago suburbs, in 2004 we moved to the small town of Glendale, Utah near Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon off of Highway 89. We've made Glendale, Utah our home, but also have a love of the mountains with a mountainside retreat near Brian Head Ski Resort as well as living part time in Vienna, Austria.

Christian Williams purchased this house in 2004

Why Christian Williams chose Glendale

Southern Utah was always our ideal vacation spot and we planned all of our vacations hiking and backpacking the many national parks in that area. So we decided, why not move to the place where we make our vacation? We purchased this small country side cottage, built by a pioneer 100 years ago, and have extensively remodeled and added on to it in a way that preserves it's countryside charm.

What makes this house unique

We love our home for many reasons. Note least of all is the fact that it is situated in the middle of some of the most beautiful, pristine countryside on the planet.

But as we've lived in the community, we've grown attached to our lovely neighbors, including the elderly single woman who raised 10 children in our home back long before we owned it and it was much smaller and now lives just across the street and has become like a grandmother to our children.

Aside from the history of the area, the location is tucked away off of Hwy 89, isolating us from the noise, but still quickly accessible to for day trips or hiking excursions in the outdoors.

City park and playground is located just one block down the street, next to the firestation. We have a large lot with 2 acres to explore, right on the hillside. It is possible to go hiking right behind the home and keep exploring the beautiful hills around Glendale. The home is off the main highway in a safe location for children, some berries and vegetables planted around the property seasonally that you may feel free to enjoy. We have two cats and a friendly rooster who show up occasionally on the property. This is our family home - please no smoking or pets and be respectful of the property. Feel free to enjoy all the books and toys, but return them to the place you find them!

Nice spot

  • 4 of 5

The home was nice, great accommodations for a larger group with children, great location to travel between parks... The grounds were a bit unkept.., but overall the house was a nice place to stay, and wind down in the evening great kitchen and lots of room for our group of 9 including 4 children ages 3,8,11, and 13 all had lots of space to play, or hang out with some privacy..fenced back yard was nice to sit on patio and let kids run around...... Good spot

Perfect location for Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks

  • 4 of 5

Our family loved the house! Plenty of room for six of us to spread out during the small amount of time when we weren't visiting Zion, Bryce, and the Coral Pink Sand Dunes. As advertised, it's an old house that has had plenty of updates so there are a few quirks, but overall it's a great place to stay in southwestern Utah. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need for cooking except the food. Tons of blankets, pillows, and towels. Our son absolutely loved all the toys and games-that was his favorite part of the trip!

The only negative was that there wasn't an A/C unit in the master bedroom, and it got a bit warm on the last night of our stay in early July. We would definitely recommend this home to our friends/family, and would also stay here again if we have the opportunity!

Great vacation home for our family!

  • 5 of 5

We were so happy with our stay at this home for our vacation! We spent 4 nights here while visiting Zion and Bryce National Parks. The house located about halfway between both parks which is exactly what we wanted. It was big enough for our family of 10 and well equipped with everything we needed to make our meals. We stocked up at a big grocery store on the way to the home and Terry's store about 5 minutes away had the little things we needed to purchase while we were there. There were plenty of beds, linens, and towels for us and enough space for everyone to be very comfortable. There were record temperatures while we were there, but the window air conditioners and ceiling fans kept the house very comfortable, even while we used the oven. We have kids ages 17 years old to 7 years old and it was so nice that there were toys available in the house for the younger kids to play and some games for the older ones. The wifi was also excellent, which really matters with teenagers ;) I would definitely recommend this house as a rental, much cheaper for our family as we always have to rent two hotel rooms, it really was a perfect fit!

Spacious country home

  • 4 of 5

Well Glendale is a small old and quiet village. The house is set back from Highway 89, so was quiet. We had rented a place close to the road around Glendale before and we could hear every truck that went by. It was nice to be in a peaceful house. We really enjoyed the big and open country kitchen with all the supplies we needed.

Glendale is roughly mid point between Zion and Bryce. So is a good location to visit both parks without having to pack up our bags.

The only drawback is that both the bathrooms are downstairs. It was a bit inconvenient for some of us who were sleeping upstairs.

We arrived on a Sunday, and the country market a short distance away was close. This was our fault and we forget that the owner had alerted us of this situation. Fortunately, we did have some food with us.

Great For groups and children

  • 5 of 5

The home was great for a large group. The kitchen is newer and has everything we needed to prepare meals. The kids loved the property and playing on the pirate ship. The upstairs room is also cute for children.

Great get-away in a beautiful Utah valley

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place for our group of 8. We wanted to be close to the parks but away from the tourism. This cozy spot in a small town made us feel like we were at home. Great kitchen! Beautiful views from the property. Grocery store nearby. Close to Zion, Bryce, and Coral Pink Sand Dunes.
