A little touch of The Hamptons in the Otways. Set on a large bushland property with a backdrop to the Otway National Park, the recently renovated and extended house is situated on the Great Ocean Road overlooking the iconic surf break at Cathedral Rock.
There are spectacular views over the ocean, extending from the Split Point lighthouse at Airey’s Inlet to Loutitt Bay and the Lorne pier. There are three large decks where you can enjoy this near perfect scenario. Tanglewood is equally enjoyable in summer and winter.
Tanglewood is a very private and tranquil space with simply stunning views from almost every room and yet is only 5 minutes on the Great Ocean Road to the buzz that is Lorne with its superb beaches, restaurants shops and art galleries.
Wake to the warbling of the magpies, then enjoy breakfast on the deck sitting at the magnificent 3.5 metre red gum table and watch the surfers catching waves.
There are regular visits from kangaroos, king parrots, rosellas, kookaburras and the occasional echidna and koala. At twilight you may hear the hooting of an owl and last but not least, in winter you can watch the whales on their annual migration south.
Tanglewood with its soaring ceilings is a beautiful, spacious, light and bright place to relax. Guests often remark that they never want to leave. Tanglewood encompasses all that is best about holiday accommodation on the Great Ocean Road—panoramic ocean and bushland views, spacious accommodation, a peaceful, private and tranquil space only a short drive to the buzz that is Lorne.

Other amenities include a pool table, DVDs, a CD player and a wide choice of CDs. There is a good selection of books, magazines, and board games and jigsaws.
There is no rubbish collection at Big Hill. Guests have access to Lorne tip and also Anglesea tip. There is information regarding this on the frig door. All rubbish must be removed by guests and not left outside as the neighbourhood fox will spread it all around the garden!
